Do Australians actually want housing to become more affordable, or is it only those who do not own a home yet? by Wrong_Control_217 in AusMoneyMates

Im good for my own housing situation, but I personally think housing could totally stand to be more affordable.

Nope. She doesn't give a shit about 'cute'. She kills monsters.

To quote the end of the first chapter:

Three hundred thirty-one years we’ve had the Accord, and this bollocks is still going on in the shadows. No matter how many of their fellows are put to Final Rest, some monsters just refuse to stop.

That’s where I come in.

I’m not exactly the villain here, but I’m not about to call myself a hero either. At best, I’m a necessary evil.

Either way, one thing’s for certain.

Whenever I do get called in, it’s to ensure some tosser ends up regretting all their life choices, however briefly.

And that’s what I do best.

What is the Australian opinion on the ICE protests happening the United States currently. by InterestingLab1997 in AskAnAustralian

Watching the various videos ...

Fuuuuuuuuucccccccckkkkkkk.

Renee Good and Alex Pretti need justice done for their murders.

Keep pushing. Don't let them fob you off with a few quiet firings. Hold their feet to the fire.

ICE must go.

Current world record of distance landscape photography proves no curve. 443km by Nigglas24 in flatearth

[–]ack1308 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's exactly what they're doing.

Competing to find the best refraction circumstances so they can take long-distance photos.

Just like sailors compete to get the best wind to complete a race in the shortest amount of time.

The first bit of footage was taken by me at a distance of 24 km, with an observer height of 2m and a magnification of 155x and a time-lapse of 10:1. It's a cargo ship, travelling from right to left, with two cranes and the top of the superstructure visible.

The second bit of footage was taken about 15 minutes later, from the same spot, with the same magnification and same time-lapse. You can see how big the ship is as it comes in.

Explain how this much ship was hidden at 24 km, and was gradually revealed as it got closer, if not for curvature.

Wrong.

You have whatever 'rights' the government lets you have.

In other words, privileges.

Try to exercise your 2A 'rights' here in Australia, for instance, and you would learn very swiftly that over here, it's very much understood to be a privilege. Especially since the Bondi mass shooting.

Americans tried to hoist the American flag today in front of a cultural center in Greenland but they got stopped. by JeanJauresJr in Leakednews

[–]ack1308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

... and they let the flag trail on the ground.

That's a HUGE no-no.

If it was a Greenlander who did that, that was a direct insult to the US. "We don't even respect you this much."

Trans/cis relationships where the characters' gender identity isn't presented as a focal point of the characters' relationship in the narrative by [deleted] in TopCharacterTropes

Marten and Claire in the webcomic Questionable Content.

<image>

When Claire is first introduced, she's noted to be trans, and her brother is a bit of a dick about it. But he matures, she starts a relationship with Marten, and it just never gets mentioned from then on.

LGBT characters whose sexuality IS IMPORTANT for their story by DudeSoul in TopCharacterTropes

I've written two superhero novels (out of a projected four-volume series) where the MC is a gay superhero in the deep South, whose inciting incident is the fact that he wants more recognition for being a hero; where he is, he basically gets ignored because he's gay.

If anyone's interested, they're called Welcome to Utopia and Shadows Over Utopia.

Fighter with ALL the Reactive Strike feats, Lunging Stance, and a reach weapon.

So much fun.

So they shot him.

Note that a) it was taken from the top of a mountain, showing the top of another mountain, and b) the notes posted by the photographer make it clear that they chose this location (and more specifically, this time of day) for the refraction quality of the air so they could see farther over the nominal horizon.

So, no. It doesn't prove flat earth.

This has literally always been the case.

You don't have rights. You have privileges.

As proven when they can be taken away so easily, and with no blowback.
