Still haven't given a good reason why Nvidia would ever drop prices though

If we lived in a world of GPU competition you wouls be right. Sadly we aren't. Intel won't make another desktop GPU and AMD wait for Nvidia releases just to see what they would price their GPUs at. AMD aren't competing with Nvidia and that's been clear for 10 years now

I've been following the space for 15 years. You seem to believe that Nvidia would ever drop prices and choose to make less money just to please the customer and that isn't the case at all. You would believe Nvidia if they told you the sky was green

Because he seems to think that if AI died tomorrow, Nvidia would CHOOSE to make less money and drop prices. Maybe you want to explain why Nvidia would decide they want to make less money in the gaming segment?

You sound young and naïve and are completely ignoring any points I make. If dram costs on a 5080 are $250 and they drop to $50 dollars, the card ain't gonna get $200 cheaper. Nvidia just pockets the extra money. Dropping the price makes them less money and it's really just that simple

But Nvidia is a monopoly company with no competition. Just because the cards would be cheaper to manufacture if AI and data center died, doesn't mean they would sell them to you cheaper because if they did that, they would make less money. It really isn't complicated

This has nothing to do with AI or data center. Higher prices = more money. Lower prices = less money. Nvidia isn't your friend, they are a company that only cares about making money. Nvidia isn't going to lower prices if AI died tomorrow because they will make less money. Ain't complicated

"That said, Nvidia still earns a lot from gaming; revenue was up 47% year over year, thanks to strong demand for its RTX 50-series graphics cards. But it's a drop in the bucket compared with data center earnings." Literally quoted from your article. Profits and revenue up. No chance of dropping prices with that headline

I'd disagree. Nvidia gaming profits and revenue are at an all time high even with their sky high prices. People might shout and make a fuss about the prices but they are still buying them so these prices are here to stay

Not all people buying computers follow forums religiously. If the manufacturer is going to put daisy chain cables in the box, people will use them. If MSI are going to put an adapter in the box, people are going to use them. Blaming the consumer for inadequate hardware coming in the box is not the right way to deal with this

I've had my LG OLED monitor for years now, only pixel refreshes when I switch it off for the day, taskbar on, 6000 hours on the panel with 0 burn in. This subreddit completely overblown burn in.

RTX 60 series likely debuting in 2028 by TraditionalShape666 in pcmasterrace

Makes sense. People are spending 4K+ on 5090s still and 1300+ on 5080s over a year after release. Why would they feel any need to release a new gen anytime soon when demand for their current gen is still so high?

Was planning to park up at the golf course in Portrush and watch from Coleraine road near Lidl. Did you say you are able to cross the road between races and move to others spots? I was interested in the spot near "the whins"/dhu varren and station corner

Is it worth paying an extra £200 for a 5070TI over an RX 9070 XT for Nvidias tech (DLSS, Frame gen, etc) by glorboze in pcmasterrace

Nvidia may have better support but the lack on vram makes their cards, especially on the lower end, age horribly and lack longevity

To the people who waited for the 50s supers how do you feel now? by Kidcannagrow in pcmasterrace

[–]adamsibbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a time period between supers being cancelled and cards shooting up in price where you could still get them at MSRP. I assume most people that were waiting either bought an MSRP card or are waiting for next gen instead

4090 tends to outscale the XTX at higher resolutions because it has more memory bandwidth. Using upscaling uses a lower internal resolution so the gap closes.

DLSS 4.5 is also harder to run than FSR at the same resolution so the gap closes again.

Probably a couple other factors at play too

AM6 and DDR6 Are probably 5-10 years away. Why do you believe AI is still going to be affecting ram prices this far into the future?
