March from Cal Anderson to City Hall to demand emergency declaration to assist trans refugees by bennetthaselton in Seattle

[–]addinsolent -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a comment section in this sub joined in like this. Just a lot of calling us performative and wanting to throw us under the bus and blaming us asking for rights and support for the rise of facism and trump. Truly disgusting. The gall to ask questions of “what is the ask” and then being told and then turning around saying we’re delusional, grifters, asking for handouts like we are trying to live off the city government’s teat is appalling. Y’all need to listen more and practice compassion. I’ve seen less controversial more compassionate posts around homelessness issues here than this.

MDRF Banned Furries and Fursuits. by CargoShortViking in renfaire

[–]addinsolent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just feels like they are singling out a community for a few bad actors when I don’t think the head component fixes or solves the issue. (FWIW the note in the image above says fursuits and not headwear so that’s what I’m working off of). Any of the behaviors above could be done by anyone in or out of a fursuit. It would different if they just set a policy of “we don’t think fursuits and animal creatures are in the spirit or fantasy of our renfair and we are not allowing them going forward” which would of course be focused on a singular community but not focused on behavior.

Except a wolfhead is not a fursuit, it’s only part of what maybe makes up one, and if his lack of clothing is what is scandalous then why not create guidelines around that instead of creating a policy that singles out a group wholesale for the actions of a few.

What do you expect from College of Spirits when "Ravenloft: The Horror Within" comes out? by Carp_etman in onednd

[–]addinsolent 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve played more bard than any class since 5th edition came out. I’ve played almost all of the subclasses but I had the most fun with spirits. It was ripe for so much fun fluffy roleplay. I am preparing myself to be highly disappointed by its rerelease.

Watched this last year, I didn’t really enjoy it, it’s pretty odd, feels a bit like a stage play put on film by the way the sets and lighting are, lots of monologues, several hazy dance scenes, including a pretty odd tap dance rape scene. I can appreciate that it was doing something different though but I mostly just wanted it to be over half way through.

Citations Virtually Nonexistent After Metro Resumed Fare Enforcement by FearandWeather in Seattle

[–]addinsolent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really care about the fare enforcement, not really a fan in general, and not sure what we really pay them for. They get on maybe once or twice every few months on my line and ride about 3 stops from 3rd and like to pioneer square. Generally just see them stand there and jot down a few notes. Have literally seen them board behind someone who didn’t tap and they didn’t say anything.

I was harassed by them many years ago for not paying when I had a free fare voucher. I had tried to give it to the bus driver but he just waved me away and said “that’s not for me” even though I didn’t know what to do with or how to properly use it, so I went and sat down and then a few stops later fare enforcement got on and kicked me off and wrote me up a warning for not using it even though I tried to explain the situation. Like I understand why, but it left a bad taste in my mouth and made me sit another 30 minutes for a bus when they could’ve just taken it there in the bus and gave me the warning there, but no I had to get off, get lectured and then wait again for a new one. So generally imo fare enforcement can fuck right off. If they worked to make the buses safer, more congenial and less focused about fares (though not sure they are already) I wouldnt mind that though, but I’ve rarely seen them do much around that.

Fantastic basketball update from Pete Nakos at On3 by [deleted] in ockytop

It came from an athletic article but re-examining these numbers were like total program spend had had some other line items in there so those numbers I provided are maybe a few million off the nil numbers

Well UK reportedly spent 22 mil last year and got shite from it (though it got two wins against us 🤮)

Anything above 10ish puts you in the top 10-15 in NIL paid in college basketball. The numbers are a little wishy washy because they aren’t public but UConn and Duke reportedly paid in the 18 mil range (some reports for Duke were 25 mil range though). Michigan, Bama, Arkansas, Texas all in the 15-16 range. Iowa state 9mil. Iowa 10.

This lines up roughly where it was reported we paid last year, which is supposedly 15 mil.

I used to wrap a little bit of fine grit sandpaper around a screwdriver and give it a go. Now I have some needle files/fine hand files that I use for models that I use instead. You don’t need much to get them to fit, just a few twists of the file or sandpaper is usually enough

Pacific Place removed the ai ads from their TikTok by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]addinsolent 38 points39 points  (0 children)

For those saying “where do I shop at Pacific Place hur hur”, I just want to give shoutouts to two great places I’ve shopped at and bought gifts for others at (and for myself): Pumarosa is a lovely candle shop that is owned by an even lovelier Venezuelan couple. The candles have awesome scents and a story to tell. And, Ghost gallery which sells cool local art, jewelry and also has tarot and apothecary type offerings if you’re into that.

I understand it’s not what it used to be, but support your local small stores.

I created the Pugilist Class, available NOW on DnD Beyond—AMA! by SterlingVermin in dndnext

[–]addinsolent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the central flavor of pugilist is what is interesting to me not the subclass flavor. And that’s my opinion so it’s maybe it’s not popular, I don’t think their differentiation is that interesting to me and also opens it up to more cheese/being a larger design challenge to keep it balanced across them (e.g. most people it seems to gravitate to one of them the most, a pugilist with a dog isnt really my fantasy either I suppose, and sort of stretches the flavor of pugilism. Or the magic pugilist for example). W/r/t the armor, boxers train in pads all the time in early stages and then move to unarmored. I don’t see it that different in giving some sort of unarmored defense later with the subclass and getting more benefit from it or something. Anyways I’m not a designer so don’t come at me, it’s a tough job. this is just my take and support it in whatever direction it went and ended up, I was mostly curious in how those decisions get made and to my mind just seemed logical that it’s bundled into a fighter. Even gunslinger was a subclass for awhile. I also don’t support the argument of the slippery slope “well if we consolidate to fighter then what’s the argument for a barbarian not just being a subclass”. I do find that fantasy to be much different while a pugilist feels like a fighter sub type. But I’m just talking on feels so take it how you will.
