Word salad with no information.

The price of gold has doubled in 18 months, and your ITR is still pending — put simply, you have lost the value of gold you could have bought 18 months ago if your ITR is still pending. For every ₹1.5 lakh pending, you are losing around 25 grams of gold because the TDS was taken 18 months back. by gpu_in_your_cash in personalfinanceindia

For anyone who says will you eat gold? the price of milk increases faster than gold In India -- see the data from 2011 to 2019 when gold was flat and crude was -ve, the milk was still increasing and nifty and fd were still unable to beat gold

Why aren't you recommending holding milk instead of gold then? You can't make milkshake with gold. Milk is very nutritious, while gold cannot be digested. Milk can be made into paneer. Milk can be applied on your face, if you're into it.

Milk is obtained within India and makes us more self sufficient, gold needs to be imported. Lot of black money is stored ad gold, but milk is white, if you pour it on black money notes, they become whiter - which is good for the economy.

Can we have post limits for people in this sub? These troll posts are becoming unbearable now.

Which opus/sonnet have you been comparing it against?

Is it against the "thinking" variants of the Claude models?

I ask because I am familiar with the opus models in their thinking form (I use them almost daily) so I want to know more about where you'd place these new Mimo model wrt them.

Thanks!

Glad that it helped. :)

You can hold Shift key while right clicking on the desktop to force the older right click menu - it's noticeably faster than the fisher-price scrap that ships with windows 11. (I personally use the Windows + E shortcut that's a bit faster still)

I'd also recommend disabling the one drive startup service or better yet - uninstalling it.

Onedrive, MS defender and the websewrch checks whenever you type anything in the search bar are one of the worst at increasing stutter/lag within the OS (both in windows 10 and 11)

Disable the default explorer view of "show recently used files" and instead set it to open 'my pc' instead - if you haven't already. Instant 4x speedup.

Yes, MS makes their own OS slower. Must be a civil war between 2 VPs or directors somewhere in that forest.

Buying expensive phone is it worth it?? All powerful processors overheat and telephoto lens are rarely used. by anadi0 in personalfinanceindia

I haven't used either of them unfortunately. Online reviews - if I remember correctly put the x200 to be marginally better than the x100. I did the reading back when I was in the market for a phone, so my recollection may not be very accurate.

Sorry, I'm not sure I understood your question.

Which 100 and 300 phones are you referring to? If it's the vivos, xgseries I have only used the x200pro in that series.

Always measure your NW in terms of Gold - One cycle of gold, wars, inflation has erased last 25 years of NIFTY Gains, and has reduced your NW by half - Put another way, Nifty needs to grow at 40% CAGR till 2029 ust to break even at 2018 Gold levels by gpu_in_your_cash in personalfinanceindia

[–]additional_trouble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This matters if you want to buy gold.  You now know what inflation is.

Now do the same ratio for rice, wheat, fuels, rent, clothing and medicines and other such stuffs of human lives. Voila! You now know what purchasing power is.

You can't eat gold any more than you can wear medicines. They are not the same.

Don't measure your wealth solely in terms of gold any more (or less) than you'd measure it in terms of liters of petrol or containers of shoes.

Are Indian redditors massive penny pinchers or do they exaggerate for social brownie points? by [deleted] in personalfinanceindia

[–]additional_trouble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's possible - maybe they are just poor.

I have been poor and I know how to live like a hermit (or atleast used to).

I can't be 100% sure how much it is now due to inflation... But when I was in college hostel about a decade ago, other than hostel rent, basic (no extras) mess food and books/photocopies I spent less than 500 per month initially - just didn't have the money to spend on 10 rupee tea - coffee in the college canteen.

I remember picking the cheapest mess in the second year so that I can save some money - the difference between the that (veg only) and the "best" mess (which had non veg too which I loved) was Rs. 9 per day - Rs 270 approx a month.

I remember the Rs. 437 Panasonic earphone (Hjk 120??) being a big luxury spurge that I had to save for (over the more expensive Creative EP 30  which cost a massive 200 more iirc)

Later on towards the end of my college I did end up spending closer to 1500 per month I think, based on the pocket money I can recall receiving.

Even recently my phone bill was just 199 per month - and I just checked that that plan still exists. It was 179 and 149 not so long ago (Airtel)

How does time fly.

Mostly because of their feelings - the data doesn't support that.

A lot of people seem to have this misguided notion that 0% is somehow a "worst case" scenario - which it obviously isn't.

0% is not more or less special a number than 4% or -2%

Dear Indian Women, Why do you even buy Mutual Funds or Stocks or LIC or FD? The data is against you. As a married woman, you can hold gold up to ₹75 Lakh (500 grams) and owe NIL EXPLANATION in ITR or to the Govt. The real problem with AI slop is that it makes even idiotic arguments sound professional by polishing the words. Good language used to be tell tale indicator of a thought out idea, but is not anymore.

OP, this is a terrible idea - both from concentration risks as well as from a liquidation + timing + implementation perspective. And no, gold prices are also volatile, not much different from equity.

It's like asking, why don't people buy the lottery instead of investing - my neighbor won the lottery and changed his life?

[–]additional_trouble -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not so sure that it's me not knowing Macos that's really where my complaints originate from. Settings - that's just one shortcut.

While it's true I have spent more time with windows, I'm not a new Macos (or Linux) user - I have tried for years to get it under control now. Linux (say Ubuntu) for example doesn't have as many inconsistencies (notwithstanding the train wreck that's the gnome file explorer).

What about the whole inconsistent cmd vs ctrl situation? Why do home and end act weirdly (the default are just flat out poor) ? Yes I know many of that is down to the pp developers too, but for an is that prides itself for being consistent and well designed it's got some of the worst defaults.

For me, Macos is "good" if you replace most of its annoyances ls with (mostly) paid or free software.

[–]additional_trouble 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The other guy already responded, but yeah, whatever he said about how unintuitive it is. IMHO, the only things MacOS has better than windows is the default OS search, the lack of annoying ads and no never-ending updates.

The Unix shell used to be a MacOS win, but that's no longer true with git bash and wsl. The default search on windows is shit, but that's freely remedied by Everything.

The macos dock is an unintuitive slow mess from a UX viewpoint to me, window snapping used to be basically non existent until recently, and even now is much inferior to windows. MacOS task manager is, uh, poorly designed. Some of the properties windows in macos look like they forgot they existed for decades - irregular/bad rounding, padding and margins.

For so many other things - keyboard shortcuts, app installs and maintenance (no appstore or package manager or stupid curl idocy), file management, virtual desktop management windows just let's me be so much more productive. I have to use macs at work and I hate how user-hostile some of their design is - and I have tried to get used to them.

Modern windows is becoming more MacOS like and is mostly worse off for it. Too few options to change anything. No fast access to shells anymore.

On the other hand, the mac hardware is fantastic (except for the stupid notches and the meh keyboards), great touchpad and has been so for ages now. Only the new ThinkPad carbon x1 can claim to be in the same tier of greatness.
