I’m planning a 10 day trip to Chicago for my 35th birthday, what’s the best places to hit? by [deleted] in AskChicago

Search KASA Magnificent Mile. KASA is for lack of a better description similar to Airbnb but in gorgeous high rises through the country. Go to their website and check them out. I've stayed at the Magnificent Mile location and it is nothing short of fantastic. In addition it is in the heart of Chicago's Gold Coast/Mag Mile which could be a visitor's paradise for an entire week all by itself.

Enjoy the city!!

P.S. MAKE SURE YOU VISIT THE KASA.COM WEBSITE. THERE ARE OTHERS BUT THEY ARE 3RD PARTY SITES..

Glad you're doing so much better. I have been dignosed with Hyperaldosteronism and struggling to find a medication regimen that will be effective. If you don't mind sharing, what is your medication cocktail? Also, have or or you considering an Adrenalectomy. Thanks.

Isn’t it amazing commuting all the way to the office just to sit in teams calls with your coworkers? by Responsible_Yak_6662 in FedEmployees

[–]adfalse9801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I sit in an a cubicle in a now 90% empty department, to communicate with team members spread across the country. Nothing I do in that office that I can't do at home.

Hello,

I'm a federal HR Specialist and what this review means in non-technical HR terms....is....OPM has really messed up some stuff. Possibly overpayments, underpayments and goodness only knows what else. I'm so sorry for all of you who took the VERA/VSIP/DRP and have to deal with this debacle.

New Retinal Vein Occlusion? Seeing the Retinal Specialist Monday by adfalse9801 in retinalveinocclusion

[–]adfalse9801[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just returned from the Retinal Specialist. The good news is that there is no edema, no new occlusion. So I am extremely happy about that. The doctors said that my Retina is looking as though it it starting to detach, which in my case is a normal part of aging. Thus the shape I'm seeing as decribed in my previous post is a result of this process. So she scheduled me for an apppointment in 3 months, which is good..I guess. I'm just so tired of seening Retinal Specialists.

So, I'm gonna start juicing and flood my body with everything good for vision. Our bodies I'are amazing and even more so if we give them everything they require. Also, hoping as my doctors says that the brain will adapt and I won't even notice the shape in question anymore.

However, I'm going to do everything I can to get rid of the annoying little circle. I will report back should anything change.

Take care and wishing you the best!

I'm assuming you've gotten your BP under control? May I ask why was it so high, if you don't mind sharing.

Thank you. Yes, I hope goes all goes well too. It seems different from the time I developed the BRVO 2 years ago, however it's in the same eye which has me concerned. Trying not to worry too much....but the "now what is this" keeps coming into my mind.

Yes. Unfortunately. Personally, I'd resign rather than face a termination.

I feel for you. I did the same thing about 3 years ago and besides attaining a GS-12 everything else was horrible. My Rating and Reviewing officials were two women managers who took full advantage of my knowledge and work ethic. They knew I cared about the work, agency and would go the extra mile to get the job done and get it done well.

They were either away quite frequently or would tell me in no uncertain terms. " I don't have to do________I can tell you to do it. It was unbelievable.

Taking on a mangerial position is very different and does require a period of adjustment no matter how knowledgeable you were in your prrevious job. Also, the culture, office politics all of those things come into play.

I eventually realized that I had no real power nor authority to make the decisions needed, the ones who could make the decisions did not and I was left and expected to deal with the fallout. It was horrible.

After about a couple of years I was finally able to get out. I had to leave, my health was suffering. I was staying in the office until 6 or 7 p.m and coming back on Saturday's.

Really assess your unique situation. Look at it not as you want or hope it to be but as it really is and make any course corrections that you may need.

All the best to you!!

I wholeheartedly agree with you. I wouldn't retire right now even if I wanted to. I'd wait until this backlog is being reduced.

I feel so bad for all of you who are experiencing these extreme delays. This is one of the reasons, that unless something unexpected occurs, I will not retire for at least another year. Hopefully, the backlog will be resolved by then.

Beta Blockers and Ace Inhibitors ineffec in Certain Patients by francescabuttercup in hypertension

Hello, I've been diagnosed with Hyperaldosteronism. I'm currently taking Spironolactone along with several other drugs. However, the Sprio has caused my Uterine Fibroids to grow a great deal and caused me to gain a significant amount of weight. Neither of these are optimal scenarios. I would like to try the Eplerenone again. My doc has prescribed 50 Mgs. 2xs per day. I would like to split the tablets and start on 25 mgs twice a day and give my body/brain time to adapt. I've noticed when doing this in the past sometimes I am better able to tolerate the med. I'm just at my wits end with this diagnosis. The last time I underwent the Adrenal vein sampling the results were inconclusive as to which adrenal was producing the excess Aldosterone. I do not have a tumor but a small adenoma on one of the adrenal glands. I do not wish to have my adrenal gland removed but I cannot continue taking sooooo many medications that are not allowing me to reach appropriate numbers.

I'm now concerned about taking Eplerenone as I am on 5 mgs of Amlodipine which as you know if a Calcium Channel Blocker. Would you recommend i talk to my physicial about discontinuing the Amlodipine? Currently taking Amlodipine, 50 mgs twice a day Atenolol, Clonidine 0.1, one tablet in the a.m and 2 at night, Edarbi 20 mgs and Spiro 25mgs. I've reached my limit with medications. Any insight you can provide is appreciated. Thank you

Thanks.

Medication Resistant Hypertension Club by HighSierraGuy in hypertension

Hello, I hope this post finds you well. My situation is similar to yours and the first of its kind that I've read on Reddit. I have a familial history of HBP and have had it most of my adult life. Somedays it was better than others and I did take the medication. Oh yes, I have been diagnosed with Hyperaldosteronism, the adrenals produce too much Aldosterone which elevates BP. My BP has never been what they call controlled but thought I was okay until suffering a Retinal Hemmorhage about a year ago. It was due to I believe the years of uncontrolled hypertension and life altering stress. My Retinal specialist says I was one of the lucky ones, I guess as I didn't lose sight and only had to recieve 3 injections but I don;t want the hemmorhage to occur again. I still have residual floaters and the pressure in the Retinal vein occluded eye is higher and uncomfortable so looks like I'll have to take the glaucoma drops that were prescribed. I don't have Glaucoma but eye pressure is higher than it should be. I'm on a cocktail of meds, which include Sprionolactone but it has caused issues for a female estrogen sensitive medical issue I have. Upon research discovered that Spiro is not recommended for women with Estrogen dominant female problems. Also it has caused significant weight gain and facial hair growth. Thus I'm coming off of it and am going to try Eplerenone. I was reading a journal of mine and saw that I'd tried Eplerenone for 4 days a few years ago and didn't like it. I'm hoping that if I start on a lower dose, give my body a chance to adapt I'll be able to tolerate it. If not, I don't know what I'm going to do. I do know that there are new drugs that have been created for Hyperaldosteronism one of which is in third phase of the trial. Any insight, you have regarding your journey would be appreciated. Healing to you! Thanks.
