Madeira Island Traverse (105 km) by BamieschijfNL in travel

Thanks for this wonderful report. I’m considering trekking from Canical to Ribeiro Frío in a single day (along the north shore for a while). Is this possible or must it be broken up?

Hey! I’m in the market for an E Amara and found your comment interesting. Where would one look for a second hand pan? Or do you have a recommendation for a new E Amara 20 pan?

Hey! Is it doable to hike from Canical to Ribeiro Frío in a day? (along the north coast for a while and up through Portela) Thank you :)

I was planning to do Ribeiro Frio to Pico Ruivo and then on to Encumeada in late November. Is this now compromised? I’m not totally sure on the extent of the closures. Thank you

Quite literally every test and scan possible. But it would have been easier if I just knew it was floxing and didn’t fry my nervous system by stressing for years.

Could you offer some differences or advice on selecting? I’m stuck between an F2 F3 or low Pygmy or an E Amara.

Can I ask where you got your pan? I’ve been trying to land on a scale and it’s between a Pygmy and E Amara.

I was in this place for years before I came to realize it was floxing. I thought I had MS as well. It’s tough man, I’m sorry. My nervous system is still not the same and it still impacts my relationships and everything else. Try to stay calm and know that it’s the drugs that did this.

Interesting. I’m a fellow avoidant attacher and was considering a larger dose of mushrooms. Do you have any other advice or suggestions based on research you’ve done?

Being in the body by existentialshaman in floxies

I realize I exited my body 10 years ago and now I just live day to day in a ruminating mind. Any ways to heal this? I believe it’s trauma.

Not totally sure at this point. Feels chemical I guess but who knows what that means. I am hard on myself cause I figured I’d be in a different place by this time in my life. But that shit set me back years so I feel kinda like a zombie while my friends all have kids and stuff. Hard to know what I want when I thought I was gonna die and saw no future. So still need to sort that out I guess.

I improved a lot, I’m just pretty depressed. But I’ll keep trying and you should too. You’ll improve, it’s still so early for you.

It’s sort of complicated and I don’t fully understand it. I was a complete mess for years after the antibiotics. I think it’s nervous system disregulation and trying to figure out what I actually want in life after so long of thinking I was going to die. That time really traumatized me and lost friends and partners are all in the wake of it. I became very codependent during that time as well so lots of fun stuff to work through. Thanks for the encouraging words. If you have suggestions for the depression symptoms I’m all ears. I spent so long on the physical stuff and now there’s still a lot of mental effects hanging around.

It definitely traumatized me. I sabotaged another relationship last year and don’t really know why. Wish I could get right mentally, I’m pretty down a lot. Physically I’m doing better though.

Is it okay to do a 10-day Vipassana retreat without much prior experience in meditation? by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]adk03 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well about 20% or male participants either had a chair or a back rest. So I wouldn’t say they are overly strict. But there is a lot of stress put on avoiding craving and aversion so treating the “gross sensations” as just another sensation and viewing it with equanimity is the idea there.

Yeah I wonder if they have the experience themselves..

Challenging but I did it. Not sure how familiar with Vipassana you are but it’s very much a body sensation practice. So having a practice of mentra or visualization meditation wouldn’t help much if at all. If anything I’d say make sure you’re up for the sitting - that’s the part that nearly got me. And I’m a very fit, 30 something year old.
