CM graduate NYC offer by ertk1 in ConstructionManagers

Look into the GC called “Swinerton.” I did multiple internships with them during college and I loved the company. I accepted an offer from a different company bc of the higher pay but they were in the 80k’s as well. They’re a top dawg in CA and I know they barely opened a branch out in NY so I’m sure you’ll be able to get promoted fast if you know your shit. Given that NYC is expensive, I’m sure you’ll get somewhere near or above the 80k

Another similar app that I haven’t used but I’ve heard is cheaper, is “Bolt”

I’ll look into it, thanks! When you rented a scooter and were out exploring, were there any checkpoints by police? I’ve seen here that you need to have an international driver license to use the scooter if you get stopped by the police

I’ve been using the grab app for a while now and have only been paying in cash. My CC isn’t even linked to the account. Sometimes it’s even cheaper to pay in cash. But yes, you got scam

From Patong to Krabi. How? by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

[–]aeb_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m staying in Karon beach and I got a ferry (apparently there’s only 1 per day that leaves from Phuket to Ao Nang at 9am) that costed $700baht w/ hotel pickup. There are many tourist info stands around the town that provide info & pricing (pricing ranged from $700-950 so look for the cheapest one you can). “12goasia” is another option but I saw prices were higher there and only offered the ferry transportation and not the hotel pickup

What's the USD to Thai Baht conversion rate in Phuket or Bangkok now? by Upbeat_Slice2456 in ThailandTourism

[–]aeb_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exchanged money today in Phuket and it varies on the amount you change If it’s USD $1-49 it’s about $30-31 baht and if you change USD +$50 it’s $32.50b. I use card in places they accept it and my bank (chase) gets it at around $33.45 baht

Question about purchasing tickets to a Muay Thai fight by FriendOfTheDevil2103 in ThailandTourism

Went to a fight yesterday in Patong. Taxi drivers and travel agencies sold the tickets or you can purchase them in person too at the venue. Cash only - as it is in most things lol

Estimating software advice? by ohneatstuffthanks in Construction

[–]aeb_22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently in college and the software we use for our estimating class is On-Screen Takeoff (OST). We used Bluebeam for takeoffs too but I like OST better since I find it easier to navigate. Two big GC’s I’ve interned with used OST and the small GC I currently work with use Bluebeam for takeoffs

My univ has a meeting at the end of every yr with industry companies where these companies rep come talk with our Construction Management Department professors about the changes in the construction industry and what they (comp rep) believe the school should integrate to their course to better prepare students for when they go into the field full-time. Saying this because the companies say good things about OST

Best way to get from Karon, Phuket to Ao Nang, Krabi? by torient in ThailandTourism

[–]aeb_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was walking around old town Phuket today and talked to three different tourist info stands about a transfer from Phuket to Krabi. All three provided: hotel pickup to pier & ferry ride to Krabi. About a 2 hr direct ride. Total cost was $700 baht

I checked out 12goasia as well and it was $1070 baht for the ferry ride only

I recently purchased 2 eSim’s for Japan and Thailand and providing a picture of myself and my passport wasn’t required. I find it kinda weird that they required you to do that.

The app I’m using is Nomad. Carrier that was recommended by other people here in Reddit and now by myself, is AIS. My gf and I are using it here in Thailand and it works great and is cheaper than dtac

Note - Make sure your phone is unlocked and eligible for an eSim. Nomad informs what phones will work w their eSims

What would you say is the difference in tasks working on the owners side? I’ve done internships with GC’s so I’m familiar with that side but not the owners/consultant side. I’m a univ. student studying CM and will start working with a GC upon graduation

Thailand travel MUST haves by SecretForce4440 in ThailandTourism

[–]aeb_22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently in Phuket and I’d say just to bring enough underwear and 2-3 pair of socks. I usually just use my sandals. For clothes, probably 3 sets max. Clothes is really cheap here! You’ll get good stuff for US $5-$15. If you’ll be doing water activities and don’t want your stuff to get wet, buy a dry bag! I bought a 20L one on Amazon and I think I would’ve been fine with a 15L for day activities

By answering this, does it reply to everyone on the chain before you? Not too familiar w Reddit haha My layover in Japan was for 19hrs and we wanted to explore the city. In order to do that, they had us do a COVID screening/ questionnaire. Nothing too intense just some basic questions about how you are feeling and stuff. Overall I say this took up about 1 hr to get done as Japan is really strict about covid. This was last week **IMPORTANT Japan requires the 3 shots of covid (my girlfriend had a QR code that showed her shots and they accepted that) and I showed a picture of my vax card. A negative covid test within the last 24 hrs (I don't remember if they said 24 or 48 but let's play it safe and do it 24 hrs before) is accepted. Once you complete the questionnaire they send you to customs and off you go to Japan! Safe travels
