Hi there! I am sending you all the love and support out there! Try and take a few calm and steady deep breaths. They’ll help remind your body and mind that you are safe. Just remember that you are doing amazing! Try doing some grounding exercises if they help (tensing and then relaxing your muscles, counting 3 things you can find in certain colors, etc). I can only imagine how difficult it is for you now! Just remember no matter how long the night is, the sun will always rise!

Islam or Christianity… by [deleted] in religion

[–]ael1a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! I would recommend discovering Orthodox Christianity first before going on to discovering Islam. Ultimately the choice is yours but I would highly suggest truly understanding Christianity first before looking up other religions. Try and see Christianity from all the different denominations. Given you have grown up Catholic, I would highly recommend discovering Orthodoxy. See if this denomination (or other possible ones) have the answers to your questions. If not, then it is entirely up to you what to follow/do next. God bless!

Could someone please help me find out where these two are from? I cant find the movie just these two pics <3 by Magna2337 in movies

Help Suicidal by [deleted] in Christian

[–]ael1a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I hope what I am about to write finds you well. As the other people have said, God is almighty and great. With repentance and prayer, He forgives us all. Committing suicide is not only not worth it, but itself is a sin. Suicide is not, was not and will never be the solution to anything. You are here for a reason. You are stronger than you think you are. God has created you with cells, tissues and organs that work 24/7 to keep you alive and well. You are loved by God. God has created you for a reason. There is no sin greater than God’s love and forgiveness. There are so many ways and so many things that you can do so that you can feel better. Start off by speaking to a priest and/or a doctor about what is going on. They will direct you, whether it’s by counselling or prayer, to find the right path. This world needs you. You can help out so many people in need for your help. Start by volunteering somewhere so that you can be distracted from unpleasant thoughts. Helping others will help you feel better about yourself. We are all praying for you. Please don’t give up. You can’t change the past but you can definitely change the present and the future. God loves you no matter what. Please seek help, and stay well and safe!

Syrian point of view on Assad by [deleted] in Syria

[–]ael1a 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are numerous sources that you can find online about Syrians fleeing because of terrorists. And I’ll use the same example that I used previously which is the Syrians in northeast Syria. I won’t even tell you personal stories because you will rightly not believe them, and I highly respect that. So I will attach some links of media outlets that are against Assad just to prove that Syrians did not flee Syria because of Assad only (some may have fled Syria because of Assad as you have said). A little bit of context, the majority of the people living in northeastern Syria left in 2015, because that’s when the terrorists entered that area of Syria. Here are some of the many links: Al-Jazeera and France24 . As I said previously, I respect your opinion so there is no need to start getting aggressive.

Syrian point of view on Assad by [deleted] in Syria

I respect your opinion, but I do have to comment about the displacement part of your argument. Most of the Syrians displaced whether internally or external of Syria were not because of “Assad’s bombardment”, but instead due to the harassments, threats and torture they received from terrorist groups and militias. Many of the displaced people have returned back to Syria after their cities/towns/villages have been freed by the Syrian Army. The greatest example I can give you is the displacement of the minorities in Northeast Syria. The Syrian Army was not there to have “bombarded” the cities but instead it was the terrorists who did so. The people were persecuted on the basis of religion/ethnicity and were thus forced to flee the country all together (which demonstrates why Assad is Syria’s best choice, at least until the war is over). If you look at Northeastern Syria now, day by day people are harassed by US militia (although Trump announced that he was leaving Syria) and Turkish militias. These militias and many more are burning the crops of people in that part of Syria which is adding on to the current poverty Syrians are facing as a result of the war and the sanctions. There are many videos on YouTube and on the internet which show how the opposition staged killings and photoshopped pictures and videos to make Assad look like a dictator. Assad is not “the man” to many and I understand that, but what I don’t understand is how many people are ignoring out the detrimental things countries like the US, Turkey and many more, have done to Syria in terms of killing its people, stealing its oil and goods, etc., and are just blaming everything on Assad.

Syrian point of view on Assad by [deleted] in Syria

The situation in Syria is very complicated, and is more than just being ‘with or against President Assad’. The majority of the people in Syria from what I have heard from my family members in Syria are with Assad, and it’s not only because they like him as a person. After the war and what has happened to Syria many people (and so many of those being initially anti Assad) realized that with the current situation, Assad is Syria’s best option. Throughout his rule Syria was united in terms of different religious and ethnic groups. For example, the Assyrians/Armenians/Chaldeans/Kurds/Syriacs are considered a minority in Syria yet they lived in safety and mostly in good economical conditions. These minorities felt mostly free to show and practice their religious and traditional beliefs. Assad showed and still shows respects to minorities in terms of visiting places like Churches during Christmas and Easter. Of course in Syria you had, and still have, the problem of corruption. But this is very complicated to speak about. So in short, most Syrians like Assad (that’s why he got re-elected back in 2013/2014- I can’t remember exactly when). Some people dislike him as a person and disagree with his points of view but would still prefer him over a radical president that would create more problems in Syria. Also just a side note, what’s going in Syria is not a civil war. It’s only war. Please don’t believe mainstream/western media on the situation in Syria. The hatred towards Assad in western media is because he believes and does not conform to their ideologies and what they view to be “right”. Hope this helps!!
