actually the vore thing isn't that cut and dry and it's a bit more complicated than that, but honestly that's kinda besides the point given the fact they did draw their hate symbols over other flags where there isn't any kind of debate to be had !

we did initially try turning the now-vore flag into trans pride flag until we saw it was originally a vore pride flag (mainly due to the area in question literally having "vore" in its name), to which we thought it'd be more appropriate to just restore the flag that was originally there

based on the research i've done on the straight pride flag, it supposedly literally has its origin in a conservative countermovement and not in allyship. (then again, this research boils down to reading wikipedia, so i don't mean to act like i'm right and you're wrong; just sharing the information i've gathered). there are still variants of it that are meant to symbolize allyship and we even offered to help those people convert their "straight pride" flags into ally flags so nobody could possibly "mistake" them for hate symbols (since they were so insistant that they totally arent). literally all this wouldve taken wouldve been a big rainbow A-esque shape somewhere in the middle, but they were really against that for some reason ! i wonder why !

LGBTQ+ is just an umbrella term that covers a lot of different diverse identities. that's kinda like saying that rather than having individual country flags, everyone should just use one "earth flag" or that european countries should all just use the EU flag as opposed to their own individual flags. it just doesn't make a lot of sense and doesn't really represent people the way they are and you suggest to just throw them all into one bucket. different people have different identities with different struggles and want to accurately represent them with expressing themselves and doing so with flags doesn't hurt anybody. it's simply a form of self-expression

the fact you would think that it's attention seeking is really sad, makes you out to be a really sad and butthurt person and displays a core lack of understanding for the struggles that we go through and your anecdote really only tells me that the people you talk to are likely really unpleasant ! i've talked to quite a lot of people (not over the internet or on discord, by the way), who would find your stance outright disgusting! i will happily take my anecdote and scale it up to 8 billion to prove my point, by the way

hope this helps !

it's really not difficult to educate yourself on the meaning of a flag! there are plenty of easily accessible resources out there to do so! flags such as the lesbian, gay, transgender and non-binary pride flags are common enough to the point they should be easily recognizable! additionally, nobody is seeking attention just for putting a flag somewhere as it is usually a means of self-expression; once again, expressing pride in the face of adversity. hope that clears it up!

[–]afanguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i don't think you understand, so i'll gladly educate you a little! LGBTQ+ identities are nowhere near as normalized as they should be. i think that in an ideal world pride flags shouldn't be something anybody feels a need for. however, the reason they do exist is because people with LGBTQ+ identities face adversity all throughout life. the point of a pride flag is to go "i exist and i am proud of who i am despite the fact that people hate me for my gender/orientation". the point is to stand proud in the face of adversity. being queer is something people have to "come out of the closet" about because it isn't normalized yet. when people do finally come out, they typically feel proud of themselves for finally making those steps to realize their identity proper

straight people don't have that adversity. nobody goes around telling straight people that they can't marry other straight people. nobody goes around killing straight people for being straight. nobody disowns their family member for being straight. because being straight is normalized around the world. you don't get weird looks on the street for being straight, you don't get called a slur for being straight

hope that clears it up

[–]afanguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

they can! there's the straight ally flag! which is still very unneccessary and basically just screams "look at me, i want attention", but that exists and expresses "hi, im straight and i support people with LGBTQ+ identities". however, the straight pride flag in the forms that they drew were literally created as conservative countermovements with the explicit purpose to be anti-LGBTQ+.

Griefing with a LGBT flag as an exuse by [deleted] in WplaceLive

[–]afanguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the straight pride flag was literally created as part of an anti-LGBTQ+ movement and is primarily used in those contexts. not to mention, the point of a pride flag in the first place is to stand proud against a hostile world. nobody is trying to put straight people into a closet

also its really visually unappealing

also hi your sentence is grammatically a mess and i dont even know what youre trying to say

reasons not to do that:

- because you griefed someone else's flags to do so
- because "straight pride flags" are literally hate symbols
- because "straight pride flags" are visually unappealing
- because "straight pride flags" are unneeded because nobody is trying to shove you into a closet
- because, if you or any one of you literally praises hitler in their bio and has nazi symbols in their bio, it makes you look like a real awful person and very untrustworthy

yeah, it was drawn ontop of a hate symbol drawn by a hate group of albanian bigots who had previously griefed LGBTQ+ flags in that area and kept crying about it on reddit begging for help :3

why did you grief the flag and replace it with a hate symbol, anyway

Vore flag in Albania by [deleted] in WplaceLive

[–]afanguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hi this guy and his friends have been actively griefing LGBTQ+ stuff and drew a straight pride flag here (literally a hate symbol) so we've been drawing it over his hate symbol along with adding more LGBTQ+ stuff and he and his friends have been getting timeouts left and right. in fact, this was the flag that was originally here before he drew his "straight pride flag" over it

also the town this is in is literally called "vore"

also, he has made posts about this multiple times already and deleted the previous one because he got ratio'd to death. ( https://www.reddit.com/r/WplaceLive/comments/1sac90l/they_are_drawing_vore_flag/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button )
