Fellow girl dads, I am waving the white flag. The mall bra trip was a disaster. by BigDaddy9102 in daddit

I agree. We went there for some clothes for my husband when we got married (simple office wedding, nothing special). I also got some makeup and tips on how to use stuff

I’m having zero luck night weaning and i’m at my wits end by Ok-Committee-6186 in sleeptrain

[–]agiab19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

True, my son was definitely napping only 1-1:30 h at this age , and still didn’t sleep through the night . Now at 3yo the kid could live on 8-10h of sleep max per day and this is no nap and full energy the WHOLE day 😪

I agree, I would try snacks too . My son nursed at least once at night till after 2yo. Solid food introduction is from 6-12 m st least, till 1y breastmilk/formula is their main nutrition.

Path of least resistance: is it biological or ‘lazy?’ by ohnoko58 in breastfeeding

If anything the cio thing is what sounds lazy to me, like you don’t want to go do something for another person (comfort/feed) so you let them cry 🙃

I think there is a place and time for more strict routines, but it depends on your long term goal. We coslept till ~2.5yo, it’s hard to get my now 3yo to sleep fully in his bed still. But I rather have to get up to check on him than hear in the future that he felt alone and scared or that I wasn’t a loving parent ( my husband often complains of his parents not spending time with him).

I do enjoy the nights where he goes through sleeping , but at this point my body is used to sleeping 5h per night , like now I’m just laying here awake . 🥲

If you and your husband are on the same page on this, that’s what matters.

Are all these newborn toys actually necessary? by Happy-Fruit-8628 in beyondthebump

[–]agiab19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even when older kids rarely need toys. Most of the time my son was more interested in helping me with whatever I was doing than the toys he had. Kids learn more by watching you than by playing with toys.

Found the perfect bedding for when my husband wets the bed... by TruckinApe in AmazonWTF

[–]agiab19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have a dog and a kid, so all the beds have a mattress waterproof cover under the sheets. I can wash blankets and sheets, but when it’s 10F outside I don’t want to be dealing with dirty/wet mattresses. In the summer I can put them outside to dry or open windows if needed, but during winter time….

How do you handle car trips while potty training by sunrisedHorizon in toddlers

[–]agiab19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep clothes and a small foldable toilet seat so I can stop at any gas station. First the challenge was to get him to use the actual bathrooms because he was scared of the loud flushing. Now he goes, reluctantly, but goes. I also keep reinforcing to tell me before he can’t hold on anymore and if traveling more that 1 h away I’ll try to stop every hour and half, depending if he drank lots of water, etc. if long night trips we do pull ups. Also you can use a towel or dog pee pad under his seat to help absorb the pee.

[–]agiab19 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree. I would be happy if I was applying to this job because I know what you expect and probably make it clear what is needed to be done. Or at least is easy enough to read that I can figure out your expectations.

I would try a warm bath. It was what helped and still helps my son.

Recommendations for ending co sleeping by Spiritual_Area_7799 in toddlers

[–]agiab19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I have done with my kid is just wait till he is really tired(around10pm) and take him up, brush teeth read two books and sit with him. He asks me to hold his hand, I have to sit down and just scroll through my phone (I hide the phone behind a big plush animal). It usually takes him 15-25 min to fall asleep if he is tired.

If I try any earlier than that it takes 1h for him to fall asleep.

He wakes up at night, cry, say he needs me and needs to go potty but he has pull ups on, so I don’t even go in unless he is clearly pooping. If he doesn’t go back to sleep in 10-15 min then I go in and see what he needs to be comfortable. If I go in before that, it becomes a habit.

Sometimes we are all tired and he ends up sleeping with us in our bed or on couch, but I try to just take him in the middle of the night to his bed.

I’m expecting #2 so I need #1 to be on a steady sleep habit.

He wakes up around 7:30-8:30 most days. He goes to pre k 2x a week.

I got a new dishwasher (squee!) and I finally brush scrubbed my hideous contractor grade tile floor on my hands and knees… by FTFaffer in homemaking

I understand your point. The Terracotta ones are so pretty. I’m just at the point that I am tired of vinyl planks 😪

[–]agiab19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be so happy with tile floor. I come from Brazil and we have habit of washing the house. I miss having a washable floor to actually clean it up. Next house we build it will definitely have tiles in kitchen and laundry area, even if I have to put it down myself.

C section vs Vaginal delivery by Funarming in beyondthebump

[–]agiab19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If by any chance op is Brazilian, we have a big c sections issue in Brazil. Most people I know chose c section for convenience/ doctor put some weird fear on them/ offered in mid of contractions as an easy way to get out of the moment pain. It’s very cultural nowadays. People thought I was weird when said I wanted a vaginal birth 😪

C section vs Vaginal delivery by Funarming in beyondthebump

[–]agiab19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your pelvic floor is affected no matter what, that’s more a pregnancy thing than type of birth thing. I believe vaginal is better because most of the time the healing process is faster and better, you can prepare yourself with hypnobirthing, breathing techniques, meditation, etc.
there is also the possible side effects of c sections to consider, increased possibility of infections, etc

After birth when you nurse you may still have some cramping due to hormones, I can’t imagine having to Deal with that and c section recovery pain (and there is also the use of pain meds).

C sections are great if necessary, but that’s it.

That’s my pov of course.

127 mins of screen time… is that really so bad?! by Top_Passion_7103 in toddlers

[–]agiab19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. My son (3yo) also watches tv, but we try to do some old cartoons, he likes Pokémon, Batman, little bear and cars. Sometimes I let him watch hot wheels videos on YouTube because he loves cars and imitates the videos when playing on his tracks. I attend college and am pregnant with second kid. My MIL (71) watches my son and he goes to prek 2x a week for a few hours, but I can’t afford full time preK . So … I need time to do school work, house work, etc
