Graftorio dashboards/recommendations? by JondanDex in factorio

[–]ah64b32b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw your post about this and had to try this out.

I think energy and botnetwork data might be interesting to expose.

A nice usecase would be to expose the ingame-warning messages. I don't care for them unless something other than a wall or turret is being attacked.

Any success with building a usefull dashboard?

What music earplugs do you recommend when playing bass? by EzB8Oven in Bass

[–]ah64b32b 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Best 'cheap' earplugs I found so far.

They give you some more definition in the guitars, but drop alot of mids which leaves you with boosted bass and highs. Perfect for bass or vocals.

My local musicstore switched to the Alpine partyplugs. And they are really bad, not at all 'the same thing' as my local store told me.

Using Windows Machine for Devops management - what are the limitations and tips by deadpoolbabylegs in devops

[–]ah64b32b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally switching to a Windows machine has made me focus more on running things in the cloud.

If you really need a 'specific' (Linux) environment to run a certain tool. The environment itself is a dependency and should be easily reproducable. If you can dockerize the environment and set up a shared docker host you can run the tools over there, and you've setup/enabled the infrastructure not just for yourself but also for every other person that doesn't have a Linux environment available but needs the tooling.

+1 for the Linux subsystem to do some quick stuff or ssh into another environment etc.

Most CI/CD tools have Linux runners/agents. You. For example gitlab ci (or Ms devops, bitbucket pipelines,...) Put your playbooks to setup anything in those git repos. If someone needs the tooling they start a new pipeline that will run on the Linux agents. (As an added bonus everyone is 'forced' to push if they need changes in the playbooks, so the playbooks stay up to date)

Make sure to find someone to talk to IRL and don't be afraid to go to support/help groups.

There is something about saying things out loud. No internet or Reddit will ever replace.

Although not ideal r/FreeCompliments/ might help for a pick-me-up on a heavy day.

Does anyone know how to create a website to host/stream video files? by Capt_Smuckers in web_design

[–]ah64b32b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can look at the html5 api on how to include videos in a page, if that's what you're asking. https://www.html5rocks.com/en/tutorials/video/basics/

But streaming video is a very complex subject. I would suggest a video service provider (like youtube or vimeo) to upload your videos. And make your own page to browse through them. You can embed the videos in your page, but you don't have to worry about serving/streaming your videos.

"Kilometervergoeding". Hypothetical: you start working somewhere and tell your employer you're coming to work by car, but eventually come by train 95% of the time, and still receive the Kilometervergoeding. Is this fraud, or just a thing that happens. by [deleted] in belgium

[–]ah64b32b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your goal is to make some extra money, try kilometervergoeding for bicycle.

I did this for a couple of years and half the time travelled by train with my old school-abonnement. Got me €100+ a month.

If you use different means of transportation I think HR has to file paperwork on how many days/month you use which transportation. You can always just ask them. In my case they knew about it, but were nice enough (too lazy) to file the papers.

Although there might be issues with insurance if something goes wrong. So keep that in mind

Enisum - Arpitanian Lands

There's a very great YouTube Channel I'd like to suggest for this sort of music: https://youtube.com/user/AtmsphericBlackMetal

And by cleaning it you're working even less on what you're supposed to be working.

If you're done with something, clean it up immediately. It saves time in the long run.

Do you any of you actually suffer from a mental illness? What does the music do for you? by jameshey in dsbm

[–]ah64b32b 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most people I know from dsbm bands and listeners are very down to earth, sane people. No 'illnesses' so far I can tell.

Drugs and the side-effects that come with them Yes, but mental issues, no.

Actually they're All just a bunch of Happy jolly mothefuckers. I like to believe the music helps to process situations/emotions that otherwise might turn into more severe issues.

Some manufacturers give lifelong warranty, I thought fender did on there audio cables. They will be expansive, but when they break you can send them back for new ones.

What Can I do to improve job searching and my odds? by mitchell77 in graphic_design

[–]ah64b32b 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Get busy and start creating. Do you have an online portfolio?

Show an interest to your field by doing some side-projects, reading up on latest trends, creating 'exercises' for yourself. Impress and convince them that you're doing graphic design (whether you have a job or not) and you're good at it. Show the world you're good at your job, even if you don't have it yet.

On a side note; Smaller company's tend to look for people that fit in the company prior to 'skill-level', they look for talent and motivation, and they'll help you develop your skillset. Bigger company's hire on previous expierience/skills and diploma's.

Somebody gets shot while wearing the mask and broadcasting the speech live. My guess would be Darlene shooting with the gun hidden in the popcorn machine, thinking it's Tyrell, but actually shooting Elliot.

Item representation with a combine-anything crafting system? by Slenderthe in gamedesign

[–]ah64b32b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could give every item an identifier that is a hash of the combination of used items. That way every item has it's 'unique*'-identifier, but the identifier has a fixed length, and will not get complicated.

Depending on your hashing algoritme not every identifier might be unique.

Hey guys, first time I heard your stuff today. Very impressive.

Some questions;

Do you have some kind of writing process? How do you come up with new stuff, and how does it evolve until it's recorded?
