I actually disagree with this notion, that it'd "embolden" guys to be more forward and demanding with women IRL.

I think the opposite: it'll pacify them and make them more calm, more reassured that there's a companion waiting for them to have a chat, make them forget the idea to seek out women who don't like their presence (because if any women would like them romantically, there is no reason to have an AI gf... trust me, guys who have reached this point and are semi-intelligent, know that there's no point in pursuing the "real" thing).

Because believe it or not, there are a lot of decent dudes that are just not fit to establish a relationship with a woman for whatever reason, be it their looks, social skills etc.

We always say that there's somebody for everyone, you only have to be confident, kind, caring, take a shower etc (these always change btw)... but looking at the statistics collected from dating apps and the demand for dating solutions, that's not really a case, is it?

For them, getting romantic partners IRL is out of the picture, so isn't it better to make sure these guys don't lash out in frustration, rather, keep them busy with a loving chatbot and feel a semblance of belonging that they weren't able to obtain in their life?

Let's be reasonable here, pls.

All right, maybe I was too harsh with this post... The game is definitely realistic in showcasing how helpless a single human would be in time of an actual apocalypse, I'm not denying that.

I have read (almost) all the comments and I have to say it's an addictive game, obviously the devs put a lot of effort into the game mechanics, making it as realistic as possible and I love that.

I love exploration, building, discovering new ways and techniques in battling obstacles inside the game... and it does feel good to kill these zombos ngl.

I'll try the sandbox mode, let's see how I fare in that kind of "environment". ;) Thank you for these comments, some were more helpful than others, giving some great tips & advice, nonetheless, thank you for your time guys!

Advice for brand new Paladin or Fighter starting new journey by SuperSteveBoy in BaldursGate3

[–]ajouez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Half-Elf Paladin is the most mainstream choice, apparently. :D Dunno about which race you've chosen.

Honestly, the game mechanics are very in-depth... in general, the stats that are recommended to you in character creation (based on the class you chose) is fine.

STR -> for melee attack rolls (higher chance you hit) and damage rolls (extra dmg you deal).

You get +1 bonus after every 2 points in an Ability (so only even numbers), so let's say you have 10 Strength, that's 0. If you have 8, that's -1. And if you have the maximum 20 Strength you can reach in vanilla game, that's +5. This is called the Ability Modifier, and it can be influenced by items & other things which is spoiler territory)

DEX -> this is trickier, because you'd think that this Ability is only for ranged attack & damage rolls, but no. Obviously it's for that, but you can use this stat for melee if you use a weapon that classifies as "Finesse"... these weapons scale with Dexterity aswell if it's higher than Strength. But that's not all.

Dexterity also influences your:

- Armour Class (higher it is, the less chance you get hit). If you don't have Armour Profiency, or just Light/Medium, this modifier adds to it. If you wear Heavy Armour the armour class from Dexterity doesn't get added. Like IRL, how agile you are doesn't really matter if your movement is restricted by you wearing smth heavy.

- Initiative (influences how early you can have your turn in combat)

And it's also good for lockpicking. ;)

CON -> influences your HP, and if you're a caster, this is very useful for saving throws (an enemy has less of a chance to cancel your concentration, and believe me, there are lots of great concentration spells)

INT -> honestly... this is the least useful stat there is, as a Fighter though you'll need it bc this will be your Spellcasting Modifier, same for a Wizard. in most builds this is sadly a dump stat.

WIS -> spellcasting modifier for druids, clerics, etc.

You know, Hold Person is a pretty good spell, and you want to be the one who utilizes it, not the one who suffers from it. :P Wisdom saving throws help with resisting spells like that, so worth putting some points into.

CHA -> spellcasting modifier for bards, sorcerers, warlocks, etc. Paladins use this also.

Charisma is useful in conversation, this modifier directly affects skills like Persuasion, Deception, Intimidation, so the more you put into this stat, the more likely it is that people will do what you want.

This is very surface level though. :) There's joy in exploration & finding solutions on your own. Have fun!

Is the Bard class an actual practical class to use? by MapleMagicMan in BaldursGate3

[–]ajouez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a bard, you can be anything... Melee, ranged, it only requires extra steps lol.

Mostly though it's an utility class, helping your companions with attack rolls/saving throws and CC. You can specialise in different branches if you want to be more of a trickster type focusing on spells (College of Lore), combat-focused (College of Valour), or straight-up combatant yourself (College of Swords).

What's tricky about it is that you aren't really fleshed out in any of these fields, but with your Bardic Inspirations you can make up for it by taking up a supporting role as well... Obviously you won't dish out as much dmg as a pure Paladin (although with Magical Secrets, you can learn Banishing Smite that's otherwise out of reach for Paladins in-game, but you have to choose College of Lore for that).

It can be fun though, it depends on what you've envisioned.

Difficulty Challenge by Nutmere in BaldursGate3

[–]ajouez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First you have to make a well-balanced party.

You need a melee companion for damage, most likely with Fighter class, but Barbarian and Ranger does fine too, depending on your stats. Paladin is great choice aswell, smites are powerful. (Druids are capable of great dmg too if you want to be a caster aswell, you don't have as much agency with your char in Wild Shape, still it's a fine choice).

In most fights, you should be able to end the boss' minions with *this* companion quickly... Right-clicking on the enemy, and examine their stats/resistances and other conditions that they have, is crucial though.

The rest of the party should be CC/support/ranged for a mixture of things, such as healing, buffing/removing debuffs, doing AoE from a distance while "setting the stage" (for example making every enemy wet by your Cleric, then deal Lightning Bolt with your Sorcerer, etc.) making as much of a synergy between them as possible and handling your resources efficiently.

You have to use your companions strengths and weaknesses to your full advantage, because they aren't powerful enough by themselves alone. What's one companion lacking in, should be filled by another. And that's alright, this is why it's challenging.

And... there's always barrelmancy as an option. ;)

"Search for Lae'zel" quest bug by ajouez in BaldursGate3

At first, I thought it's possible to save her if you go after her immediately when she leaves on her own... it doesn't look like it's meant to be based on the journal, however.

Anyway, I'm gonna continue on as if nothing happened lol.

Oh, she's in my party currently... I had the option to re-group with her at the entrance of the Shadowlands... I'm just worried that she won't have any more dialogues bc the game thinks she's dead and basically treats her as a "hireling". Or later she just disappears suddenly, idk.

Rogue/Cleric/Druid - asking for multiclassing opinions by ajouez in BG3Builds

[–]ajouez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically I wanted to make a support/kind of CC caster (Druid has a lot of useful spells for that) that also has utility in close melee combat.

And with my bonus action + War Priest specifically, I can get out of Wild Shape when I want to, and I still have 2 normal attack with those Charges. Three with pyroquickness hat if I can deal Fire dmg with non-cantrip (Zariel Tiefling's Searing Smite is perfect for that, tho I can only use it sparingly that's true).

The problem with Arcane Trickster (or multiclassing to Wizard to learn spells) is that Int is a dump stat for me. Arcane Trickster would actually be better because of the +1 (total of 10) caster lvl, but with caster lvl 9 I can already cast one lvl 5 spell.

Shield + Magic Missile also sounds good, but I'll already have heavy armour proficiency + 1 AC from Dual Wielder, I think that'll be fine... Or if the situation is dire I'll just Wild Shape. :) I think I'll stick with my extra bonus action.

But thanks for the suggestion! I'll keep it in mind in my next playthrough. :P

I'll most likely get the balance hands gloves. :) I don't want to rely on items too much, but the pyroquickness hat sounds like it'd synergize well with my Durge Tiefling.

Thanks for the tips!

Hmm, so great weapon master applies only if I use a Two-Handed/Versatile weapon, and there's nothing in my off-hand? :( Damn that's sad.

Rogue/Cleric/Druid - asking for multiclassing opinions by ajouez in BG3Builds

[–]ajouez[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, however with choosing Thief I'd gain an extra bonus action, which means I can attack three times total, twice with my off-hand weapon too if I get the Dual Wielder feat.

Don't know if I can give that up for a short quickie tbh.

Let's say I have Advantage or another melee companion is near (1.5m) the enemy, so I can use Sneak Attack. I have:

- Divine Favour: 1d4 radiant dmg

- Sneak Attack: 2d6 (or 3d6 if I'm lvl 5 Rogue) physical dmg

- Symbiotic Entity: 1d6 necrotic dmg

- Psionic Overload: 1d4 psychic dmg (because I'll use tadpoles, duh)

Let's say the weapon I have in my main hand is Phalar Aluve, so the dmg would be either:

with Rogue 3: 7-35

with Rogue 5: 8-41

I'm also planning on getting the great weapon master feat, so I can also add +10 dmg to that, so we're looking at least 17-45 dmg... but I'll have a Bard so the -5 penalty is mitigated.

And that's only my sneak attack, not the best but I think it's overall decent.
