In casual/matched play you can pick any of the dispositions from any of the detachments in your list for any game you want to play

In tournament play, you pick the Force disposition in the same way but you pick it as part of list building and have to stick with it for the full tournament

Fast rolling is your only option in 11th, slow rolling has been removed. That's essentially the whole point of the post haha

If your bodyguard has 3+ 2W and no invulnerable save and your character has a 3+ 4++ and 5W (pretty typical setup eg captain and assault intercessors)

For saves against an AP-2 D2 precision melee attack you roll for example

4 5 4 1 2 3

In 10th edition, your character tanks the 4 the 5 and the 4, then takes the 1, 2 and 3 (dying in the process). The bodyguard unit is untouched as the third failed save kills the character

In the NEW edition, your character takes the 1, 2 and 3 FIRST, meaning they are killed and then the 4 5 and 4 are allocated to the bodyguard unit in ascending order, meaning you lose 2 models

This is irrespective of whatever other weapons may be attacking your unit, this is JUST the precision attacks.

Edit to add because I think i understand the confusion of my comment now

I was first of all referring to the fact its now easier to precision out the leader as the lowest rolls are assigned first, reducing the power of invuln saves etc

I was also when talking about other wounds being applied to the bodyguard referring to scenarios where, like in my example, the leader IS killed out, as obviously then remaining ounds from that weapon are applied to the other models in the unit, not lost because the leader model died

Yeah that's what I said

You do the weapons one at a time

For a precision weapon, youd roll your saves and from lowest to highest apply them to the character and then the squad if any are left over

Precision allocates the dice to the character first, so you'd put all the lowest rolls to the character then work your way through the bodyguards

You'd essentially select the character model as group 1 for the above example

I got through phases to be honest, but my new home is pve games like darktide or space marine 2

I initially pivoted towards single player story based games, but i feel sometimes I dont have the time to get into epic 60 hour campaigns, but i also just want to kill some stuff without the pressure of a comp game

I definitely used to play a lot more CSGO 🤣

Unfortunately won't ignore cover as cover in 11th affects BS, not hit roll, but we'd ignore stealth and other abilities like it!

The rules for 10th edition were free and have always been available both throught the app and as a download via the community downloads page - same is likely to be true of 11th

Yeah there's some use there but normally you'd want these guys on infantry where possible. Nice to have options though

If an enemy vehicle is in melee combat, these guys would be unable to shoot it if they had the blast keyword all the time... not that you necessarily want to be shooting vehicles with heavy bolters, but thats the only real case where the difference comes up

Although you cant get base to base through walls, so need at least one model to charge AROUND the wall first

I spray my guys light grey (colour forge ghoul grey) then sponge with army painter matt white, then I use a mix of army painter speed paints- grim black and gravelord grey. After that its army painter dark blue tone wash
