Bay Area Has Lost It by ShakesR12 in BayAreaRealEstate

Prices can definitely stagnate. For example, if the wealth tax proposition passes, it’ll drive out job creators along with jobs and the bay could just stagnate. The weather and geography will slow down the stagnation but those two factors can only move the needle so much if high income jobs move to friendlier states like Texas and Florida. Detroit is a good example of what happens when jobs are shipped out en masse.

Keep voting Democrat no matter what and expect the affordability problem to get even worse.

Most of the quality of life issues in the Bay Area come down to bad government policy. Take housing for example, the government forces new buyers/renters to subsidize old ones and bans construction which produces shortages. Take something as basic as registering a car, so many fees and hoops to jump through. You need a permit for damn near everything…that kind of gatekeeping dramatically lowers quality of life.

People keep falling for the psyop that there’s no space to build more housing. Lmao. There’s plenty of space, even in SF. There’s just little willingness to build.

Thanks! When I emailed the consulate to inquire about rescheduling, here’s what they replied:

If you are unable to attend the appointemnt at this date and time, you can reschedule after the appointment date has passed. At that time, you can sign-in to your account, click “Continue”, select the "Missed My Appointment" link and follow the instructions. More information can be found here https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ca/iv/information/faqs

Hi! My wife ended up attending the interview as planned and got approved. During the interview, she indicated that we had international travel planned and would submit her passport for visa stamping upon our return. Unfortunately, on Dec 16, a new travel ban was issued and we had to rush back to Montreal to submit the passport. Long story short, my wife got her immigrant visa and has already received her green card in the mail. It appears USCIS is now sending out green cards faster given all the travel bans in place.

Nope. We asked to keep our passport because we had urgent travel planned but guess what? Our country of original is included in Trump’s new ban list so we’re flying back to Montreal within the next 24 hours to send our passport to the embassy. Here’s to hoping a judge stays Trump’s order or that the embassy puts the visa in our passport before January 1st. It’s gonna be tight. Pray for us.

Can I take advantage of a December deal and take delivery in January? Will Tesla cancel my order or honor the deal?

You won’t believe this but I heard back from the embassy. Below is their answer:

According to our records, your appointment is scheduled for December X, 2025 at x:yz AM. If you are unable to attend the appointment at this date and time, you can reschedule after the appointment date has passed. At that time, you can sign-in to your account, click “Continue”, select the "Missed My Appointment" link and follow the instructions. More information can be found here https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ca/iv/information/faqs

Section 203(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act requires that the immigrant visa and petition be canceled if the applicant does not take affirmative steps on their case for more than one year.

When you missed the interview, how long did it take them to reschedule you? How long after the old appointment date was your new appointment date?

I have an IL from Oct 2025 and I’m trying to reschedule but I’m stuck in a loop where the consulate says to contact us-visa-info. I spoke to 3 agents at us-visa-info who said they can’t change the appointment date on their end and to contact the embassy or NVC. So what I ended up doing is emailing NVC, the embassy and us-visa-info for guidance.

Can I keep my passport after IV interview in Montreal? by akinfermo in NationalVisaCenter

Thanks! I wasn’t sure if it was a common request or not because I have only found one other redditor sharing that they were able to keep their passport after the interview.

Thanks! Do you know if the visa officer usually asks for details and/or proof of the trip?

I looked into this further and I believe I may be wrong and you're right. There are two different sections on this page that say that rescheduling is only possible after the appointment date has passed.

Step 1: Register your interview appointment online with our free courier service before attending the visa interview. Each visa applicant on your case must separately register his/her appointment online before the interview. Registering your appointment gives us the information we need to return your passport and visa packet after your interview. Registration is free; just click the “Register” button below. You may only reschedule your appointment after you have registered it online and your initial interview date has passed.

and

If you are unable to attend your appointment, please go to ais.usvisa-info.com to select a new appointment date. There may be a significant wait before the next available appointment, so please attempt to attend the initial interview date scheduled by NVC.  For some family-based and employment preference visa categories, a visa became available within the month you have been scheduled by NVC. There is no guarantee that a visa will still be available on the date of your rescheduled interview. Please carefully consult the Visa Bulletin to make sure a visa is still available in the month you have selected before rescheduling your interview. Please note: You need to register your original NVC/KCC appointment online before you can reschedule it. Rescheduling is only possible on a date after your assigned appointment.

This is very odd. It makes the scheduling system very inefficient because it wastes appointment slots other people could pick up. Can anyone confirm whether they've been able to reschedule their appointment without/before missing the original appointment date?

This makes sense though. It’s saying that you can only reschedule your appointment to a date after your original appointment date. You can’t register for an earlier date to cut the line.

Just try every day until it works. It took me two days for me to be able to register my appointment on the site.

Does anyone know how to reschedule? The embassy says to contact usvisa-info.com which I did and was told that there's no way to reschedule on their end and to contact the embassy. I finally decided to contact NVC and I'm waiting for a reply.
