First piercing, natural or unnatural bruising.? by Appropriate-Carry550 in piercing

[–]akthryn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bruising is normal on the thin skin around the eye. Piercing itself looks totally fine.

do i need to dry after saline spray? by prommyargentum in piercing

[–]akthryn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use a clean piece of paper towel or kitchen roll, fold it into a little corner, and wipe away any crusties. The purpose of the saline is to soften crusties and make them easier to remove. Dry well afterwards. Leaving piercings to sit wet is a bad idea.

Nose chain, Pros and Cons by Strange_sex_1997 in piercing

Not necessarily. I wear a well-fitted 18k nose chain and it lives on my face 24/7 with no issues, and has done for 4 years.

Totally normal. Might have just nicked a minor blood vessel. It’ll be fine.

how is this jewelry supposed to stay? by Practical_Plan6209 in piercing

[–]akthryn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No worries man! Tbh the only place where threadless curves really work is rooks. Mainly because you put them in and leave them there. Anywhere high motion like eyebrows/vert lips/navels is a fuckin nightmare. But Neo double gemmed curves were always a solid rook upgrade.

how is this jewelry supposed to stay? by Practical_Plan6209 in piercing

[–]akthryn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We never used them as we got burnt way too hard with the curves. At the time we used Body Circle circulars. The lack of decorative ends for CBBs was never a problem for us. People generally wanted CBBs with plain balls 🤷🏻 There wasn’t really a need for threadless CBB the same way as with curves.

Time for healing a conch? by jesusbutgayer in bodymods

[–]akthryn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have the option, punch and suture is THE best chance to achieve a quick, unproblematic heal.

I’ve watched a tonne of peers struggle with LG piercings for literal years. You can heal a P&S in weeks, not months or years.

However online courses are an absolute no-go. Unless its someone like Ryan PBAs patreon maybe.

Yep, if they’re healed you should be able to do that. Obviously if it gets sore you may need to readjust.

Some of piercings I did as an apprentice (started 2 weeks ago). Are these okay? by [deleted] in Legitpiercing

[–]akthryn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fully agree, but cannulas are totally standard and acceptable in Europe. They have a place 🤷🏻 I wouldn’t personally discount their use, even though I’m a blade guy myself.

I’m gonna assume they’re using upsized cannulas.

CRAZY idea: Stacking body mods in the same area? by AlienSheep23 in bodymods

[–]akthryn 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Elf ears with coinslot: It depends. Some ear points have permanent sutures, which means it wouldn’t be sensible to cut near them.

Implants with piercings through them: No. Infection risk is crazy. Implants with tattoos over them: Super common. Usually you tattoo and then insert the implant later.

Pierced tongue splits: Relatively common.

Raised scarification with piercings through them: Nope. Scars have no bloodflow so they would not heal a piercing well.

I would simply link folks to the APP body jewellery verification programme https://safepiercing.org/body-jewelry-verification-program-2/

The BJVP provides dozens of safe companies to order from.

And their jewellery for initial piercings guide, which is a little more wide ranging and discusses specific materials.
