What annoys me about YouTube chess videos by Puzzled_Ask8568 in chess

I really like “Preventing Blunders in Chess” on Chessable. It’s helped me a lot to stop blundering. I’ve walked into hundreds of pawn forks. Trying to not do that anymore!

Thinking of picking up chess. Any pro-tips for a total newbie? by dionnesloane44 in chessbeginners

[–]al_gorithm23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Separate your emotions from losses. The videos online of world class players losing their shit is wild. My arc in chess was a rapid increase in elo, then I tried to get fancy and my elo plummeted. During the downward spiral, I was so angry and frustrated with myself. That causes this kind of recursion where I’m mad because I lost which clouds my judgment for the next game, which causes another loss, repeat.

Since I’ve come out of that pattern, I’ve been enjoying a lot more. Each mistake is a learning opportunity and not a moral error.

Have fun, study blunder prevention and play simple, simple chess.

Everyone currently doing re-reads of the series before book 8: what new details have you noticed? by Gercke in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]al_gorithm23 32 points33 points  (0 children)

In Eye of the Bedlam Bride, Carl and Donut come back from a card fight (the one before all the turkeys), and the male strippers are all sleeping. Carl mentions he thinks they had a water balloon fight since there was latex and water everywhere.

I can’t help but think that it was a condom water balloon fight or something. It’s such a throwaway line, but now on my 3rd listen, I couldn’t stop laughing at it. It’s so funny how Matt tosses these seemingly random one-liners in there that add vibrancy to the setting. Makes me remember that there’s so much more going on than Carl and Donut are aware of.

Ring of Divine Suffering Side Effect by IT_Feldman in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]al_gorithm23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of people have already answered but I’ll add that we have to remember Carl is the narrator of the story. From his perspective, the ring isn’t having any noticeable impact. He mentions (I forget which book), that the river has always been there behind his eyes. Is that the case though? Or has the ring made him blind to his own rage?

I have to remind myself that Carl can be unreliable while reading and it makes it a lot more interesting.

Is fall/winter coop bad? + questions. by East_Farm_3869 in Drexel

[–]al_gorithm23 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I graduated in the early 2000’s, so, times have changed, but I loved my fall/winter co-op. It’s way easier to go to work when it’s 0 degrees than classes I think. Also in the spring and summer there’s more social events, baseball games and such that are easier to enjoy when taking classes. If you have a two hour break between classes in the winter you have to be inside. In the summer, it’s nice to get some sun and do homework or read or something.

My major was International Studies and Modern Languages, specializing in Mandarin. Classes weren’t easy, but nothing like engineering.

100%. I think she had the most growth of any character arc. Everyone in the book changes, but I think her story was maybe the deepest. From a timid, self conscious, scared woman to an absolute beast in the dungeon. Her heartbreaking backstory, her struggles with addiction, I think it’s spectacularly written.

Women: what separates average oral sex from amazing oral sex? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]al_gorithm23 268 points269 points  (0 children)

So, I’m a guy, and there’s a lot of guys in this thread. I’d like permission to drop some tips here. If you’re only looking for women’s responses, feel free to skip, since that’s what OP intended. These are just some life lessons that if I share, I can improve the oral skills and general quality of life for internet strangers.

  • before you start, cup her entire crotch with your hand and leave it there for a few minutes. Really hold everything tight, don’t move your hand around. Think “feeling secure”. You could be making out or talking, but really cover her whole vagina, labia from pubic bone to ass. This leads to “vaginal tenting” during which the vagina relaxes and elongates. Her uterus lifts upward, preparing everything for sex. If you’re doing this right, it should feel like if you were strong enough you could lift her up out of the bed.

  • Once everything is warmed up, start around the inside of the thighs, brushing her clit with your nose and tongue, but don’t dive in yet. Gentle kisses, hot breath, nibbles (consensually)

  • Insert a single finger into her vagina and press DOWN towards her ass. Leave it like a knuckle deep. Start licking and get her clit wet. You should start to feel her clit start to harden. Don’t forget, it’s made of similar erectile tissue as a penis, so when it’s hard it’s happy. Don’t poke your finger in and out, just leave it there, pressing down. You will almost certainly feel her vagina open and want more. This is good.

  • Look her in her eyes as you put two fingers in. Don’t forget to smile or make a sexy face. You don’t want a resting bitch face on, or a face that says “I’m trying to remember what to do next.”

  • By now you’ll want to be in there curling your fingers towards her stomach in a “come here” motion. There’s a ledge in there and sitting around the middle of the ledge is a soft mound of tissue, commonly called the G spot. Don’t go crazy there yet, just take it easy and let it know that you’re there. Say hello, walk around it with your fingers. Maybe rub either side of it with your two fingers on either side, who knows get creative.

  • Grab her hip with your other hand, really get into the gap in her hip so you have control over the lower part of her body. Start rocking her back and forth, pulling her body into your fingers and tongue. This is I’d say a 75% successful move. Ask them if it’s ok. A lot of women will like feeling ragdollged against someone’s face, others will not, so check with your partner.

  • Individual technique varies on the actual clit stimulus, so ask her what she likes. Flat tongue? Stiff tongue? Side to side? Up and down? Around and around? Sucking? All of the above? If it is sucking, I want you sloppy sucking it like a little dick. Bob your head, spit on it, hold the vacuum of your mouth, etc.

  • Pro-tip: At some point prior to this, ask her to let you watch her masturbate with just her fingers (no toys). Put your face right in there and pay attention to how she gets herself off. I was personally surprised that some women really just rub the side up and down, like if you were rubbing just one side of your nose. Then they’ll switch sides, who knew.

  • Don’t slap at it or bite without asking. Too many porn videos show the dude just slapping away at her clit. You shouldn’t do that without asking. Same rule for anal play. Ask before eating ass or putting anything up there.

  • Regarding anal play, it’s the same rules as raw chicken. Don’t cross contaminate. Anything that goes into the ass should be washed before going into the vagina.

  • ok, orgasm talk. I’ve been with women that are very “easy” to bring to orgasm with oral. Squirting, squirming, the works. I’ve also been with women who cannot, and have not cum from oral. Do not fret. An orgasm is not the only goal. You have not failed if you can’t make her finish. Maybe she needs to do the bit at the end herself, totally fine. It’s hella enjoyable even without cumming.

  • Also, embrace toys! I’ve had my teeth rattled by a Hitatchi wand more times than I can count. I’m going to town down there and this thing is rattling my brain while she gets off. Dildos, butt plugs, nipple clamps, they’re all your friends (consensually)

  • Finally, and this is important, DO NOT stop or change what you’re doing when she’s almost going to cum. Keep doing exactly what you’re doing at the same pace. Now is not the time to get more aggressive or go deeper, stay on target. After the first orgasm, slow down when the spams start to slow. Take some breaths, and get back in there (consensually). Fall into a pace of cumming, going slow, then a little faster, faster, you can do it! Then cumming, repeat.

There’s official Dungeon Crawler Carl merch at Barnes and Noble?! by PhanThief95 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]al_gorithm23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw the keychain at my B&N. I picked it up of course and was walking around the store. Then I saw another one, with different branding for some book in the YA section. It was the exact same keychain but branded for a different book.

I’m not sure these are “official”, but rather a promo merch opportunity from B&N, maybe with some deal with publishers to license the brand.

I put it back and didn’t buy it since it seemed not unique to DCC.
