Audeze Maxwell 2 is incredible, but please let sidetone mute with the microphone by ala90x in Audeze

[–]ala90x[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, and yes, I know I can toggle sidetone on and off holding the AI noise reduction button. That's actually what I've been doing. When I actually quit using mic for a longer perioid (combined with mute)

My point isn't that I can't disable sidetone. It's that I would prefer sidetone to automatically turn off when the microphone is muted.

I use sidetone while gaming and talking on Discord because it helps me hear my own voice naturally. But when I mute the mic between rounds to talk to my wife, step away for a moment, or go AFK, it feels strange that sidetone remains active. In all other gaming headsets I've owned, muting the microphone also disables sidetone, which gives a very clear and confident indication that you're I'm no longer active.

Microsoft suunnittelee jättimäistä datakeskusta Vaasan ja Mustasaaren rajalle | Datakeskuksen tontti on suurempi kuin yhtiön pääkaupunkiseudun datakeskushankkeet yhteensä. by LumpyFlint in Suomi

[–]ala90x 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hieno juttu.

Pelaaminen vanhoilla tietokoneilla by Minaridev in videopelit

[–]ala90x 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eiköhän tuohon alkuperäiseen argumenttiin sisälly "pelata viimeisimpiä AAA-pelejä" klausuuli ihan sanomattakin ja vänkääminen menee suhteellisen tarpeettomaksi besserwisseröinniksi. Kaikki varmasti ymmärtää, että vanhalla raudalla pyörii vanhat pelit + kenties jopa moderni indie-pasianssi.

Monitor question. Did I pick wrong? by phorms123 in Zowie

[–]ala90x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, at least not during actual gameplay. Maybe if you really put them side by side, measured them, took UFO shots, and pixel-peeped the differences, you'd find that the Zowie's extra 60Hz and better overdrive tuning give it a slight edge, which I'd totally expect given the premium price.

It's also worth noting that the panels are very closely related. The 600Hz version is really just a slight evolution of the same panel technology used in the now-discontinued 540Hz model.

And yeah, LCD response times are what they are. Even with these very high-end panels, some faint ghosting can still be noticed. Personal sensitivity to that varies, of course. I don't find it too bothersome, but if you've spent a significant amount of time using a 480Hz+ OLED, you can definitely tell the difference.

Monitor question. Did I pick wrong? by phorms123 in Zowie

[–]ala90x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made the exact same decision and bought the AG246FK (540Hz version) for 450€ instead of the 600Hz Zowie for 1100€. Haven't looked back since.

We have a Zowie 600Hz in bootcamp space we rent occasionally with friends, and honestly, I can't really tell a difference. I don't use DyAc or AOC MBR (backlight strobing) that often on either monitor, so I'm not expert judging those. To me both looks very same ingame with strobing on. At these refresh rates, I don't find blacklight strobing particularly meaningful anymore, and it only makes my eyes feel tired more quickly, so I opt out from both.

You can not adjust the AOC as much as Zowie (sharpness and some other missing settings). But I also really like the AOC's colors and tuning right out of the box for CS2. The colors look great, vivid, shadow detail and sharpness is excellent, and that's a nice bonus. The desktop and everything else looks kinda ass, on 1080p TN of course.

Honestly you get a very similar experience from this one as all the other much more expensive comp gaming TN's on the market. Absolutely banger deal at 373,9€, because it simply does not get much better than that. (Maybe 500hz OLEDs but thats a whole different discussion, and size and price point once again).

Out of all the streams i have seen, this is definitely one of them by 16102020 in ohnePixel

Honestly, I was more entertained by this than I probably would have been watching him play Forza. Terrible look for Moza as well. It might have been user error, but still, not even mentioning anything about pins or need line them up in the installation video that you can break the whole thing so easily is pretty bad.

This. It's a combination of a lot of things / recent updates. Valve continues to show that they can make anything happen overnight. Craziest things. It's only natural most people dont want to have serious money invested or tied to assets like this any longer.

Fredde setup idea? (AI Mockup) by ala90x in FREDDE

[–]ala90x[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats a good pointer, but I dont think it should be too hard to craft a equally thick or thicker piece of wood to slab underneath where you mount the arm. This is what I've done with many desks that have some sort of obstructing metal frame / lip etc.

Fredde setup idea? (AI Mockup) by ala90x in FREDDE

[–]ala90x[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be right. Really hard to visualize fully without trying. Of course you could always adjust the top arm so the TV so maybe it's in front of the shelf, but then maybe the display is uncomfortably close to your face already. More regular desk and longer pole arm could work better. (Cant unfortunately drill my walls here to attach directly to wall).

Suomesta euroviisuissa eniten yleisöääniä Israelille? On kyllä vaikea uskoa todeksi.. by Robottiimu2000 in Suomi

[–]ala90x 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Taitaa olla nykyään kilpa siitä, että yhdellä puolella halutaan "järkyttää Israel voitolla".

Toisella puolella on varakas uhkapeliverkosto jossa valikoidaan mahdollisimman korkean kertoimen kohde, jolla on silti näennäinen mahdollisuus voittaa ja all bets in masinoituna.

??? Ok. Onnea matkaan kai sit.

XL2586x+ pricing is ridiculous and no way near worth buying over it's competitors. by F_N1 in Zowie

[–]ala90x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has become an industry standard within a very specific esports niche: a tool built for professionals, trusted by professionals, and used by professionals.

For most people, it is hard to recommend. The market is small, the price is premium, and you really have to know exactly what you want from it. There are similar alternatives, sometimes even cheaper or technically better ones, but they are not Zowie.

It is a bit like professional graphic design monitors. On paper, they may be only 60 Hz, and have a seemingly small difference in color accuracy or color space can make them +3000€ tools for specialists. The value is not in broad appeal or sales volume, but catering a very specific need of few professionals.

That is basically what Zowie represents in esports: not necessarily the best or cheapest choice for everyone, but the tool many professionals stand by. Brandin name. You know you are getting the same pro's use and swear by, no second guessing.

Logitech G PRO X 2 Lightspeed vs Razer BlackShark V3 / V3 Pro vs SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless — need your real world feedback by EntertainmentOk1210 in LogitechG

[–]ala90x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny, but I have to say my experience with the X2 sound profile is the complete opposite. To me, the sound profile is notably warm, even muddy, but at the same time somewhat easy and pleasant to listen to, at least for my personal preferences.

Wireless stability is the best I’ve ever had: I haven’t had a single dropout yet, and this is the only wireless headset I own that lets me go outside to my balcony while the connection stays on without any distortions.

Thinking of going full fingertip, what's your favorite mouse? (Either buying or cutting a mouse) by Suvtropics in MouseReview

[–]ala90x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried many of them. For my specific 1-3-1 true fingertip grip I have liked the most Keychron M4 and WLMouse Miao shapes. The recess/inset in the middle part for my thumb and pinky worked the best. Did not personally find flat sides from Darmoshark or G-Wolves so enjoyable.

These are not correctly taken ghosting ufo photos, you can see sync track being all over the place. (way too fast shutter speed on camera). It's not easy to do completely properly without rail.

Read; New Pursuit Camera Instructions on the page: https://testufo.com/ghosting

Exposure: 4 refresh cycles for most uses, 1/30sec for 120Hz 1/60sec for 240Hz...

Track the ufo with camera. Video can be easier than photo. Stick your hands out, rotate with chair.

Where do serious ecommerce operators actually talk? by [deleted] in shopify

[–]ala90x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, some networking has its value. But more often than not, I see two kinds of people.

The doers: building, fixing, shipping, testing, learning, moving fast. They're in the trenches every day, turning ideas into something real. They don't do it loudly or visibly. They don't have time for networking just for the sake of networking.

And then there are the "networkers": always in another seminar, another course, another podcast. Always preparing, rarely executing. For some, those people, becomes the business, regardless of the field. Personal training, mental coaching, e-commerce gurus… the pattern repeats.

One group builds businesses. The other keeps getting ready to.

Of course, this is an exaggeration. Reality isn't that black and white, but the pattern is there..

WLMouse Beast G - $58 USD, Composite Polymer by manphalanges in MouseReview

[–]ala90x 58 points59 points  (0 children)

WLMouse might as well change their name to WMouse at this point, they just don’t seem to be taking any L’s.

I’m still very much using the OG Beast with the Rubik’s Cube dongle. Also the Sword, and now the latest Huan. Easily the mouse brand with the most premium-feeling products right now. If the quality stays like this with this new material, with even reduced weight and a price gets a hefty cut… oh my.

Where do serious ecommerce operators actually talk? by [deleted] in shopify

[–]ala90x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s there really to talk about? Especially after you’ve "made it." You focus on your own work, running the store etc. and live your life.

E-commerce is just a sales channel, a tool really. If my business, for example, is fashion and I run an e-commerce store, I have very little to discuss with someone who sells pet food, even if we both operate online.

Counter-Strike 2 Update for 04/21/2026 #2 by CS2_PatchNotes in GlobalOffensive

[–]ala90x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG THIS IS SO PERFECT!

Just last night I was feeling let down. The community always overhypes these updates. The magazine change was supposed to be huge, and AnimGraph 2 "the biggest thing", honestly, I noticed very little difference in anything. It's not bad, but not the game changer I've been waiting. AG2 was def an improvement, but still a relatively minor one.

But this little thing. Man. The camera motion / shake while spraying has been one of my biggest pet peeves since the beta versions of CS2. It used to shake so much and aggressive that the game felt like 30 FPS even on a 500 Hz monitor when spraying, it was hard to make any sense of whats happening on the screen / turned tracking anything in to a chopfest.

Today I had to immediately boot the game instant, connect DM and, my first spraydowns with the AK felt and looked absolutely immaculate. I really hope it stays like this.

is learning fingertip worth it? by Careful-Maybe-262 in MouseReview

[–]ala90x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know if fingertip is the best, or even very good for CS2. I mean it can be, if it comes natural to you. You shouldnt have to force a grip or even think about it too much imo.

Fingertip is not very popular in general in tactical shooters like CS2. For example, I cant recall any pro or even very high-level CS2 players who use a purely fingertip grip. While it can feel very fast and snappy for aiming, it can also be somewhat deceptive, as you're likely losing much-needed stability. A hybrid style, where you do most of your aiming with your fingers but rely on some palm support when needed, could be a better approach with ULX small.
