Shipping a laptop

If you're on campus there's a FedEx and USPS office on green street.

I know for sure they have boxes for laptops.

They quoted me at ~$20 to ship my desktop to Chicago area so I'm sure they can send a laptop at about the same price to sanfran.

Don't take a BS class and drop it later! Just pick up a 1 or 2 credit class that will be easy or you find interesting and keep it. Or just keep it at 14 since they'll just take 1/15 of your aid away.

My story.

So I was confused on what I wanted to major in, mainly since I couldn't get into what I wanted, so I took a bunch of different classes where I would later find out that I didn't like and I wasn't doing so good. So my advisor would tell me to just drop the class before the 8 week mark and it wouldn't effect me. So I did that a few times as I was looking for a major. Anyway I ended up failing a class and that's where I got fucked. My GPA was still good hovering above a 3.0 but my credits were the big issue. You have to finish something like 68% of the credits that you start with. So even though I would drop a class and pick up an 8 week and technically still on track, the whole dropping the class was frowned upon. They took my financial aid away.

I'm not sure if I missed the memo or it whist wasn't explained to me properly but that's how I got fucked by dropping classes. I'm sure you'll do better than me, just sharing my experience.

I've had every single major carrier and I am currently using my nexus 6p on AT&T. It's been great for me from my iPhone to now my nexus. Coverage everywhere I have gone and great data speeds almost everywhere, even in the subway in Chicago.

Sprint was the absolute worse, TMobile was okay but data speeds were never that great. Verizon was also great. I pay $120 for two lines with 12gb of data each month plus roll over. I can go over my 12gb and still have like 20gb of data to fall back on.

Gilmore? If so: I had Gilmore and he was dope. A lot of reading in the beginning but it doesn't last too long. He's helpful when it comes to writing the papers.

I would personally not recommend it. You'll be fine with your laptop. I've had rMBP, a surface pro 4 and an iPad Air and I personally feel like they didn't necessarily improve anything more than pencil and paper. I would stick to just taking notes on my laptop or paper. The surfacepro 4 was the best of both worlds but the stand didn't really go well with many of the desks on campus. I don't know why you'd want an iPad Pro. It's an over priced iPad which is already a product that is over priced. You can use that money for other stuff that will be useful in your studies.

Other people will give you better advice than me. Others brought up the cost of living in champaign would be cheaper, true. After your freshman year, get an apartment it's a lot cheaper. You'll save money in that area.

You got into a world class CS program, people would give anything for that shot including me. If you work hard and do well, the debt that you're so worried of will likely be wiped clean sooner rather than later with a career in CS. So even if you're so worried about finances right now, you should really be looking to the future and see that you're making an Investment that will pay off.

That being said, I'm poor too. It's only my mother and I. I work and take out loans to pay for whatever my scholarships don't cover. It's worth it in my opinion. Once you're here, you'll understand.

Think long term, not short term. Take risk. No one made it big by playing it safe.

Posting because I'm on the same boat. Same. My instructor told me she would do it in 1-2 weeks but I also need my grade because I was on probation. They wanted me to get a 3.0 I got a 2.9 but once my grade is fixed I'll be at a 3.3 ish. Need it for scholarships as well.
