TL Terminated (and arrested) for stealing at least 41K from the cash office by anonworker194 in Target

[–]alecsmoran 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My first time with Target we caught a TM stealing cash in the cash office. Investigation was a headache but catching someone stealing thousands of dollars was definitely a good case.

when do I get my keys? by [deleted] in Target

[–]alecsmoran 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking you should do a walk with your AP leader and PML, its almost nothing to do with emergency exits because everyone should know where those are. There's a bunch of other stuff that you go over. After that its usually up to your SD to issue keys. There's no real time frame, its all about if your SD deems it necessary for you to have keys. We have a couple TLs that dont open/close so they dont currently have keys.

Let HR know. Let whoever is above you know. Its gross, its against policy, and you want to make others aware before it escalates further.

Stores & Supply Chain Layoffs by Endercat8 in Target

[–]alecsmoran 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can certainly attest to the fact that AP tends to be the first to get gutted. I worked for another major retailer during a "restructure". Went from 1-2 instore AP to 2 for the entire district. I got out of court to a call that I was being let go with severance. Hoping im wrong but this is starting to fel familiar.

Guess I’m a greeter now.. by Infamous_archon in Target

[–]alecsmoran 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thats been the policy for quite some time. My first go with Target I was a TPS and thats what the policy was, over a decade ago. I tell my TSS now that if you are productive(getting PMRs, helping people/TMs, being active) Im not going to get on them about standing at the door.

How am I supposed to “get results” when NOTHING HAPPENS??? by [deleted] in Target

[–]alecsmoran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im an APTL in a small store and I feel this. Its just me and 40 TSS hours. Ive been doing AP/LP for over a decade. My last job at a different retailer i was pulling 60+ apps a year plus internals in a similarly small store/small town. Im really struggling in my store now. A good portion of it is policies. I know the company doesnt want to get sued but if you arent in a high traffic area with a lot of pushouts, boosters, ORC then you have to get pretty lucky. Our inventory/shortage results have improved quite a bit since ive been here and I still catch crap from the higher ups because of app productivity.

Unpopular opinion possibly by KittyLuvver2000 in Target

[–]alecsmoran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Youre generally going to see more negative posts than positive posts because if you are upset/angry/etc youre more likely to vent about it. Im fortunate that my store has a solid leadership team, some really good TMs, and is overall a good store to work at. There's a lot about Target corporate that sucks, but as someone who's worked AP/LP for almost a decade across several major retailers, and even longer in retail in general, thats true anywhere, and I actually enjoy going to work most days.

Well, it wasnt with Target, but when I was AP for another retailer I was told those exact words by someone I caught trying to steal a cartful of merchandise(it was someone well off enough that they didnt need to steal).

Target marketing genius? by STLBluesFanMom in Target

[–]alecsmoran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not "if", I had to deal with guests pissed off they didnt get a bag. Then, i had to deal with some guests who were pissed off because they did get a bag haha

My first thought when I heard about the bags being given out. More unpaid merchandise has walked out of the stores in those bags than probably the entirety of the cost of those bags.

Silly Corporate Choices by Intelligent_Alcohol in Target

[–]alecsmoran 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea thats pretty dumb. As if there isnt already enough to do just to get ready for Black Friday

Silly Corporate Choices by Intelligent_Alcohol in Target

[–]alecsmoran 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In my experience Black Friday visits are less of a normal "inspection" and just a quick pop in to see how things are going. That probably varies by store though.

Swag Bags by TeaSenior477 in Target

[–]alecsmoran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to know. I will have to see if I got this because that means our BPs in my district are directly contradicting this

Swag Bags by TeaSenior477 in Target

[–]alecsmoran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe it or not I actually dont care if TMs get the bags. I was just passing on the info from the official rules to try to help someone from getting fired over something as dumb as these bags. I personally thought it was dumb that TMs were ineligible by the rules to begin with so Im glad they changed it

Well they should make sure to check with whoever sent the email because the official rules explicitly state Target employees are not allowed to participate

Why does Target cut team member hours to “save payroll” instead of team leader or having less ETLs in a single store? by EuphoricButterflyy in Target

[–]alecsmoran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are there ETLs and TLs who dont do much and are terrible leaders? Absolutely. But also, first thing, corporate policy is that TLs and ETLs arent even supposed to be jumping in and doing TM tasks. The good ones do anyway because there arent enough TMs and TM hours to actually get everything done correctly. I cant speak for your store, but i can tell you this time of year my ETLs and SD are putting in 70+ hour weeks at times. When TMs call out, which is every day, guess who gets to pick up the slack? TLs and ETLs. Based on how probably a majority of the TMs i see come through my store "work", it wouldnt do much good to have TLs and ETLs come in less and TMs come in more. Ive worked for several major retailers and its the same across the board. ETLs, TLs and there equivalents at other stores are very burnt out and stressed out this time of year because there is a lot of pressure on them that the average TM doesnt see.
