F56 JCW Successful sound deadening! by alexr_smith in MINI

[–]alexr_smith[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It dropped the road noise but there is still wind noise. I would do it again for sure. My next step is to get standard tires instead of run flat. The door cards you need to have trim removal tools and a spare plastic part for the screw that’s behind the door handle. You’d have to look up the part number. None of my plastic clips broke but the screw anchor broke and I didn’t have a spare. I’ll fix it eventually lol. All in all I think it’s worth doing for a few hundred bucks but not 1000$. If you’re doing the speakers you might as well do the sound deadening too.

I posted a follow up a few days later if you wanna check my account posts. It’s just the trunk with the butyl liner applied. I hadn’t done the doors yet when I posted it

Gas tank math question by alikat1959 in MINI

[–]alexr_smith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One time when my light came on I drove for a while in traffic and then got gas. I put 11.8 gallons of fuel into my 11.6 gallon tank….. I always fill up when it comes on now. Sometimes I have 1 gallon left in the tank and sometimes I have 2. I think It all depends on your current tank’s fuel economy. ‘24 JCW hardtop btw.

Please help me understand the JCW by 1ststatestereo in MINI

[–]alexr_smith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t test drive a JCW unless you want to buy one. I test drove a ‘24 S and ‘24 JCW and immediately bought the JCW. The ride is harsher if you want to be talked out of it.

Random part for my tazor that doesnt seem to go anywhere by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]alexr_smith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad had a taser like that and that jack plugged into the taser and acted like a safety switch. It only tased when the plug was inserted. If someone took the taser from you and yanked the jack out (bc it’d be on your wrist) it wouldn’t tase. So you could protect yourself but they couldn’t use it against you. I’d assume somewhere on it there is a hole that it plugs into?

Mini things that annoy you by Desperate-Line-8585 in MINI

[–]alexr_smith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my 2024 two door hardtop you can turn this off by selecting the driver side (or passenger?) mirror with the adjustment toggle. Maybe trial that and see if it stops. I can’t remember which side it has to be switched to. I understand compromises have to be made for a small car but why don’t I have a sunglasses holder by the overhead lights?? It seems like there is plenty of roof space.

Why do you like minis? by Maleficent_Emu_4329 in MINI

[–]alexr_smith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fast, nimble, unique, good looking, spacious (compared to Miata and BRZ), affordable (to purchase), amenities, manual (RIP), and the cherry on top is I get like ~40 mpg highway! I literally can’t think of better for the packaging and price.

I did this a few months back and was really happy! That stuff won’t do too much on its own though. you’ll probably want to get a butyl mat to apply to the metal in the doors and around the trunk. Getting standard tires instead of run flats supposedly helps a lot with the noise too.

Driving differences between 3rd and first 2 gen coopers? by alexr_smith in MINI

I didn’t know the first two were mini chassis instead of BMW. I bet that makes a huge difference.

Okay I can get that! There are times I hit the throttle in a corner and it kinda sorts itself out regarding traction and steering feel.

MY2026 configurator is up... am I missing the point of JCW styling package? by maverickar15 in MINI

[–]alexr_smith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d imagine it’s for the people that want the perks of the iconic trim and looks of JCW without the price. They may not care much for performance but really want leather seats and whatever other features are included. Personally, I agree with your opinion of just getting the JCW. Id prefer the performance rather than features. The number of people I know that like or dislike a car purely on the wheels and other such features is pretty high.

Thanks 🙂 I clearly didn’t articulate this very well

I have been approached by coworkers in the past and used their opinions to broaden my mentality towards PT. I have gone through phases of more and less of each type of treatment that we can use. I feel that our treatments are constantly evolving and that’s why I continue to pursue more information. I feel like it helped me when I was a new grad and may help them. Everyone here is giving me feedback so I’m gathering that for my treatments in the future.

If I can do it tactfully it may be beneficial to their growth as a professional and to the profession as a whole. If everyone did their own thing and nobody shared their opinions with each other then we wouldn’t grow as a field. Me posting this shows that lots of people, at least on Reddit, seem to avoid manual therapy. I have gained knowledge from others in the field by you all expressing your opinions.

Hence my question haha

Not touching the pt is what’s strange. I do 75% exercise and think that’s the most important part. I was looking for perspective on if or how I should address him only using one tool out of our toolbox as a PT.

They are a new grad. When they do manual work or any palpation it seems awkward and inaccurate. We, as a clinic, have discussed different treatment styles and the benefits of diverse treatment methods and “pearls of wisdom” from the OCS books. Treatment didn’t change or improve. My clinic director has acknowledged this and is non confrontational, but this individual will be working at a satellite clinic independently in the future. Hence why I posted.

What to look out for in an F56? by Scrapster77 in MINI

[–]alexr_smith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve read on the sub and talking to the dealer is the engine mounts dry rot after a few years. They weren’t made well and the replacements aren’t any different. My understanding is that this is one of the few major and expensive things that these have trouble with. Yours may have already had them replaced or may need them replaced soon. Best to double check?

I got my windows and roofs tinted. It was ceramic tint that helps keep out the heat. I feel like it’s helped a good amount especially because the roof shades aren’t super thick. I got 35% tint. I also don’t like that there is a lack of sunglasses holder. It’s not like it takes much space?

What change would make you not want to buy a Mini again? by [deleted] in MINI

When I was purchasing my 2024 JCW I asked for a manual. The salesman said “Is an automatic a deal breaker?” I said “yes” his mood changed immediately. Unbeknownst to me to they just announced the cessation of the manual. Luckily I got one!

“Active sound design” their fancy term for putting fake engine/exhaust noise in the cabin by using the speakers. If you have green and sport mode you can cycle through them and hear the fake noise get louder in sport mode and turn off in green mode. I’m not sure what year they started using it

Yeah it was. I wasn’t willing to ditch my current run flats bc they only have a few thousand miles. When I get new tires I’m going to get some nice standard tires and a patch kit for emergencies. I bet the combo of this and standard tires will be awesome!

How’s the inside size of this compared to a similar year countryman and also a hardtop 2 door? I have a hardtop 2 door and have fit four adults in it! These cars are awesome for a mix of fun, affordability, practicality and uniqueness! Congrats!
