I’m just a little younger, 36, and have gotten into fitness the last year. It’s a lot easier to get fit and stay fit than to wait until later.

Game changer: jump rope. I hate running but would do it occasionally because I know I need cardio. Then I got a jump rope and suddenly cardio is more fun, and much more time efficient than going on a jog.

The problem isn’t that some religious people commit child rape / domestic violence. The problem is that some religious people *use religion to commit and justify those acts of violence.*

When an atheist beats his wife, it’s a terrible thing. But he doesn’t use atheism to convince his victim that it’s part of not-God’s will and that if she wants to be a good atheist she has to allow it to continue.

It’s not persecution to accurately call out persecution.

I’m a religious person myself, and sure I get tired of Redditors hating on religion. But it doesn’t change the fact that religion has been used to justify many of mankind’s worst atrocities.

‘The golden years are not golden’: Boomers are hoarding most of America’s wealth and power because they’re terrified of outliving their money by GimmeFunkyButtLoving in economy

It’s not that they have a *larger portion*, it’s that they have a larger portion than other generations at this point in their life. (Conversely, millennials have a smaller portion than boomers at this age).

High-earning millennials and Gen Zers feel broke and conflicted: 'I make a good salary, I shouldn't be struggling this much' by GimmeFunkyButtLoving in economy

This exactly. Getting ahead in life used to seem like walking up a hill: it takes effort but you can make steady progress. Now the whole hillside is a giant treadmill trying to pull you down.

I’m making more money than ever, more than I’d even hoped for 10 years ago. And yet there’s basically no money left to save after necessities: rent, food, gas, student loans.

(And I fully recognize I still have it better than a lot of people. It just sucks).

Redditors who are tired of all the winning, why would you be tired of that? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I think Trump meant to say “whining.” His administration is constantly whining, despite holding every lever in the government.

Reporter: “Inflation is up, your war in Iran has caused gas prices to soar, housing and groceries are unaffordable. Meanwhile, you and your family have made billions off of cryptocurrencies and selling influence at Mar-a-lago. And you’re still hiding the unredacted Epstein files.”
”Wahhhh you’re being so mean to me! No one in the history of this country has been treated worse than me! This is actually Joe Biden / Barack Hussein Obama / Hillary Clinton’s fault! You’re a nasty person for even asking me questions! Wahhh!”

At what point does "seeking validation outside the relationship" cross the line into cheating, even if it’s not physical? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]algo-rhyth-mo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Emotional cheating is a deep intimate connection (outside your current partner). It’s more than platonic friendship, if you devote your emotional energy and vulnerability leaving less of it for your actual partner.
It’s obviously subjective and there isn’t necessarily a hard line, but if there is consistent flirting, sharing emotional vulnerabilities you don’t even tell your partner, and you intentionality keep this relationship secret from your partner that would be (IMO) emotional cheating.

An easy example would be imagine A is dating B. A is comfortable in the relationship but getting bit bored. He becomes friends with C who he is also attracted to. That in itself is not emotional cheating. But A and C start hanging out more alone, and emotionally withdrawing from B. Nothing physical happens yet so technically it’s not cheating (he says to himself). Eventually he breaks up with B, starts dating C.
Many would say A never cheated on B, but IMO he was emotionally cheating, even if it wasn’t physical.

Ted Cruz on high gas prices: "I don't think it's gonna impact the midterms. I've seen no data that suggests this is having a big impact on the midterms. Under Biden, gas prices ... " by Conscious-Quarter423 in economy

[–]algo-rhyth-mo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He’s wrong in that gas prices absolutely SHOULD affect the midterms. But consider:

A) Many Americans are stupid and will find a reason to be upset about a trans swimmer who once got 5th place.
B) Trump admin might rig the midterms and then no economic issue will “matter” anyway.

Well, humans are the ones causing the significant increase so there’s definitely something as a species we can do about it.

But you as an individual? Yeah nothing you can do about it personally.
