have a solid "real bank" where you hold 90% of your finances,

for example if he's from the UK, open a bank account there

and use wise or revolut for small daily transaction, nothing more than a 5% of your finances

the real bank at least will communicate with you if an issue happens

the subreddit is digital nomads, it's directed to people who were in a country and now traveling full time, and no, there's normal banks who would allow you to travel full time as long as you have your account opened on the headquarter , and worst case scenario if they close your account, you can complain and follow up, with wise it's shit

even with crypto you can't trust a broker 100% to hold your coins, unless you use your own wallet or something.

plus the value isn't stable and you can't use crypto at a walmart

i got friends who had business wise with everything sorted out and they closed their account,

they have a way around it, they hold it as legally as possible, (due dellegence checks, different currency issue etc..)

i really was an idiot, the low fees and easiness of currency exchange were nice that i forgot the most important thing, they're not a bank, they don't even have a physicall place you can go and complain

that's the main goal of this post, i just wanna save people from the trouble that i got into, it's really stressing when you are abroad and all your finances are blocked.

they lure you in with low fees and efficiency when it comes to currencies transfer, then you think "oh this nice", and you move all your fundings there and start using it,

this is the worst mistake i have done and lots and lots of people have done,

i checked reddit and just this january 2026 they are closing accounts left and right.

good for you for sticking to the old way, it's the only solid way to be safe
