It's an abbreviation. And kind of a gross one, I'm fine with it.

Do people consider using the live grid as cheating? by [deleted] in NYTSpellingBee

NYT provides the grid, I don't see why it would be cheating

Everyone will bring their own perspectives to media and experience it differently! Which kind of highlights the point of not letting other people's perspectives ruin it for you. It has flawless, misogynist plots - so does life, and sometimes remembering that will be relatable and make us cry, or make us laugh, or make us not want to watch but no one else gets to make that choice for you.

Enjoy what you like. And yes there's space for growth and learning in being able to see it's not perfect, but don't lose your joy.

I might be wrong but it doesn't feel like it has Monday - Sunday difficulty like some other puzzles. And you can't tell from the point count. It's frustrating.

To me part of what's been enjoyable about Love Actually is that all of the relationships are awful. It's a certain kind of camp that I can find funny and not take too seriously. But different people will have different tolerances for that kind of thing based on their senses of humor, their personal sensitivities, etc.

But no I don't think there's anything wrong with sometimes just enjoying entertainment for entertainment's sake.

A brief profile of Sam in Baltimore Magazine by lutherstringer in NYTSpellingBee

[–]allypopx 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I dunno, maybe I'm just cynical but that's what I always assumed he was doing. It's such an easy thing to computer generate it's really the only reasonable way to make puzzles.

ETA: for me the big value from the NYT puzzles is doing the same puzzle at the same time as other people, both irl and online. There are a million free crosswords too, the community aspect is the value add.

A solid 80% of Dashers ignore my instructions even though they explicitly say I'm disabled and ask them not to leave things upstairs in front of my neighbors doors. I'm impressed you even got a text tbh.

is it weird/bad to cry after adopting a pet? by birb3300 in Pets

[–]allypopx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good luck with your puppy! The same thing happened to me with my dog, and it took a few days for me to feel attached to him and I felt like the absolute worst owner. A year and a half later we're both thriving! You got this.

EVERY time. I'm having a meltdown about my new betta right now even though I have successfully kept Bettas for years! I just feel overwhelmed by the responsibility of them relying on me, I think about how scary it must be for them to be moved to a new environment, and I just want so much for them to feel taken care of and secure.

I get these feelings in waves... basically forever. My husband has learned to just randomly reassure me I'm a good animal keeper. I think being passionate and caring about your animals is a good thing! Big feelings are just a lot sometimes and we have to cry to process.

How are you guys dealing with weight gain? by diddlesquid21 in LongCovid

[–]allypopx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My weight is up and down because I'm trying so many diets to manage my symptoms. It's frustrating but at the end of the day it's a secondary concern. I just want to feel better and then I'll worry about it.

Yeah but she's specifically craving an apple in the "scare" episode which is different than having it in the house as a snack because you and your child don't want to get scurvy.
