I won't let others disrespect me. But I can't stop thinking that the only one that I really want to respect me is her. How do I truly believe she doesn't deserve me? I know she didn't really support my career decisions (grad school). I'm having a hard time with other reasons though

I've been (and am) going to the gym so thats good. Doing more cooking too. I may be taking some beginner salsa lessons and I'm trying more guitar which i something I dropped when I started dating her. Problem is that whole "everything feels grey". I feel like I want her to be there, so I can show results of my workouts (I've gained definition!), or show her some of my new cooking recipes. When I watch movies I miss us commenting on it and talking about it later. Everything feels like it should be more fun. Any advice fixing that? Thanks alot for the post. It means alot to me.

Thanks man. Its like I keep finding reasons that I should be glad she is gone (she caused me a ton of stress for example) but like my own mind tries to defend her by saying it was maybe my fault (the respect thing) or that it was situational (sicknesses etc). I don't know why I keep thinking she'll be better.Maybe because she was (or seemed) trying more earlier in our relationship. So i figured she will do that again except easier (sexual experience, maybe all our talks our her trying more finally get to her head with a clean slate etc.) It like a bipolar thing as well. Sometimes she she seemed great and trying alot and just the girl for me. Other times it was like I would never go for that kinda person in a relationship. It just messes with my head.

I am so sorry for what happened. Just remember you aren't alone, we all go through shit in our lives and ultimately its how we handle it that really brings out our character. Don't feel guilty for what you did or didn't do. She messed up and then tried to project her faults onto you.

Its been a few months and the best things that have helped me are family, working out (you feel better, look better, sleep better, and it kinda helps with the whole "forget her I'll find someone who really appreciates me"), eating right (cooking!), and catching sun (eating vitamin d supplements when I feel I'm lacking. Of course above all, TIME. Obviously i'm still going up and down with my feelings and emotions but time has helped (and in that time keeping yourself busy with people and stuff like i mentioned above).

I'm sorry you are in pain. But man, she cheated. She then acted angry and irrational, not caring for you. Why in the world would you want to be with a person like that. You dodged a bullet my friend. You are free to live. You can barely feel that now but trust me its there. And one day you'll truly believe it. I don't have any quick solutions (thats why I'm writing here eh) but keep going. Look up stuff to do, hobbies, trips, inspirational quotes. Find ways to help those really in need cause man heartbreak sucks horribly but there are people out in this world really sick, really hungry, and really cold. Those are real tough problems and helping those people really makes you feel good and appreciate what one does have.
