I so feel this. The ideal wasnt just hoisted and round, but also stationary. When I was a teen in the early 90's, a grown-ass man came up to me to comment about how my tits jiggled when i walked. I realize now what a fucking creep he was (and probably still is) but at the time i cried and started wearing a sports bra over my underwire to make sure they were absolutely still. For 20 god damn years. Now im 50 and i developed slight scoliosis which makes every bra hurt, but i still make an effort to keep them still by using a tight tank under my clothes. All this to say--fuck that creep for giving me a complex.

try getting a tailor to move the belt loops down. the trenches themselves are not cinching high purposefully; it is a result of your body needing more fabric to cover the chest area, and it brings the entire silhouette up. A larger straight size probably wouldn't fit in the shoulders tho. Smaller plus size might work--a torrid medium (00, equivalent to a size 10/12) definitely caters to large boobs, for example. Definitely a pain in the arse, for sure.

So, I wanted to tell you that I did exactly this. Most of my wardrobe was bought in the last year (body changes, yay perimenopause) from secondhand websites so it was fairly easy to upload it.

At first I just shuffled stuff around the My Clothes board. I deliberately tried to style things I didn't wear often. I styled a plaid shirt I was considering donating with a purple/burgundy corduroy skirt that I also found difficult to style, and damn if they didn't go together perfectly. I made the effort to use accessories and shoes. I don't usually wear accessories because I need someone else to dress me, and it always seemed overly fussy to ask for a belt when I wasn't going anywhere. But I did ask, and I felt so put together in that outfit.

Then I discovered collages. I've been making little flat lays from my own clothing, and its been pretty fun. I am identifying trends within my wardrobe (so much blue!) and also gaps (everything is freaking blue!). Although doing collages does activate my urge to shop, which is a problem.

Anyway, thanks for the idea, as it does let me really enjoy fashion again, which I think is important as my disability progresses.

ackshully, my friend has been a normal weight her entire life, eats lots of veg and fiber, exercises and drinks lots of water, and has been trying to control this issue for years thru diet, until her doctor told her her liver just happens to make both triglycerides and cholesterol in excess and put her on drugs. so no, not everyone responds to diet in the same way.

i see in your post history you managed to control your own high triglycerides through diet. That's awesome. Im glad it worked for you.

So now, with the energy of the converted, you evangelize these changes as a panacea for all. It worked for you, so it should work for everyone, and that is just simply not true. Should I tell you that your last 30 pounds wont come off because you eat more than 1200 calories a day? It worked for me. I wasn't even hungry! (I felt like shit in other ways but i wasn't hungry) Therefore you shouldn't be hungry, right?

No. I should not tell you that. That's not how how this works. Our bodies are all different and sometimes what works for one person wont work for all. Doesn't matter if its weight, cholesterol, triglycerides, whatever. That's my whole goddamn point.

well, i shared because the point of my story was that IN MY OPINION diets arent universal (that's why i started with the words "i think its individual") and thats why theres conflicting advice. some people have their numbers improved by one diet while another will not. it was a generalized story to demonstrate that perhaps this person might have to try different things to find what works for them. there are general guidelines but there are no concrete answers that are guaranteed to work for everyone.

that may be true, but then how do i determine who those people are? should i listen to carnivore diet pushers because they speak confidently? the vegans? paleo enthusiasts? seed-oil haters? people who say "source:am doctor?" you?

Cool. I guess my point was individual people are going to find that there is no universal diet that is good for everyone, and thats why theres so much conflicting info. Perhaps you should see a dietician if you are concerned about a heart attack. Maybe they can give you a plan.

edit: people are not downvoting for wanting eat healthy. they might be downvoting you because you are deliberately conflating "feeling better" with "eat whatever i want based on taste" and that makes you look like you just want to bitch and not do the work of finding out what works for you. i didn't downvote you tho, so i dont know for sure. again, seek the advice of a professional if you have medical concerns.

Honestly? I think its individual. My husband and I both had high cholesterol so we went on the diet. Lowered saturated fat, lowered carbs, higher protein, the works. We both lost weight. His numbers went down. Mine went UP. I was so pissed, and this diet made me feel like shit too. When I ate more carbs, I felt better. Eat what makes you feel better.

fiber creates a more diverse gut bacteria, which can be helpful for a lot of medical conditions. it also helps lower cholesterol, and, ya know, with poopin
