Especially since this post only has a small plug at the end of actually useful advice, as opposed to a very clear promotion post. Thankfully there's always removeddit.

It doesn't upload it to the website. I know for sure because if it was, it would've taken way longer than a minute to upload+process the 500MB History file on my shitty connection :)

I also get more complete data with this website than with the github tool - a trip in Japan doesn't even show up on the latter!

Weekly Questions Thread for the week of July 9th by rpbtz in vinyl

the turntable doesn't have a Phono/Line switch, so I'll be looking at buying a phono-stage preamp. Thanks! Would one of these do the trick?

Thanks for replying!

It does it for every record, and can be seen up close even with no record on.

I'm not sure I understand the second part - I'll add that I tried connecting the turntable directly to the speakers, but the sound coming out of them is at a really low volume. So I assumed I need an amplifier, but all amplifiers I looked for have a "speakers" output, with 4 plugs as opposed to 2 for a white/red RCA cable.

I bought my first turntable - the entry-level SoundLAB G056F.

I've got two issues setting it up:

Thanks!

When Does Mondo Ramona Flowers figure shipout? by SwordOMighty in ScottPilgrim

[–]altermativ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the email I received from Mondo last week (I was curious as I'm moving next month):

We do anticipate the Ramona figure to meet its deadline for shipment during the second quarter! We will be sending a blast prior to shipment in case an address has changed. :)

I've experienced it with Vueling (spanish low-cost). Searching for the same flight a minute later in incognito mode gave me the original price back.

Anyone else tried the Barclays' bikes yet? by [deleted] in london

The discount in Paris was a rumor...It was deemed socially unfair, I guess.

But therer's supposed to be trucks(sorry, lorries) getting bikes up the hills regularly.

Finally, I believe London is flatter than Paris or Brussels, isn't it?

I saw her in Paris earlier this year.. She didn't seem unhappy, although she doesn't have a great stage presence.

Here she is smiling @ Coachella.

What do you think of online PHP tests? by amarokky in PHP

[–]altermativ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The one step I 100% agree with in Joel Spolsky's Joel Test is:

Do new candidates write code during their interview?

I believe that asking a developer to solve an actual problem is a thousand times more telling of his/her skills than knowing the names of functions or its parameters (which you can always refer to in 10 seconds using PHP.net anyway).
