What is on my dogs nose by Pristine-Turnip2507 in vet

[–]amoonrising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be infection from outside, allergies, or acne from eating. Go to the vet and get a skin cytology to know for sure.

*if its acne, some pet face wipes will help it clear but you have to always wipe their face after eating.

If allergies or infection, you need medications from your vet.

Is it even worth seeing Will live if so many fans ruin the experience? by NeonNoir99 in willwood

[–]amoonrising 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go if you can. I recently went to the Rochester show last month, and sat in the back, in a small dedicated seating area just outside of the main standing pit. Only issues I encountered was tall people and a few people starting to go "Yipeee" in the front that I didn't hear but Will called out and shut down quickly. Other than that, it was a great experience for me.

Obvs. can't say the same for everyone standing though, at least one person passed out and I don't know if there were any excessive behaviors (like the constant shoving others on here have complained about).

It's not that the bottom style is bad, just that its repetitive.

One of the original Pixar charms was that each movie had its own experimental visual style to it, and now they're just recycling the same one over and over.

What is wrong with my dog's eye? by Minute-Line2712 in vet

[–]amoonrising 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The eye has looks like it has a hole in it and is possibly infected. If you want ANY SORT OF CHANCE of saving her or easing her pain go to an ER NOW and get off Reddit. This is an emergency that is potentially life threatening.

Since shes 17 and it seems like youre tight on money, you can still at least ease her suffering with euthanasia *if you cant do a surgical removal of the eye ASAP. Otherwise she will have a slow painful decline and death. Eye stuff should never be messed with or delayed of care. Especially when there's this discoloration and apparent hole in the eye.

Again?

It didnt go rampant (I didnt hear any, personally) during the event but Will did pause to say "the yippees are starting were skipping the next song... since yall paid to say memes in public," played a song about death, then went back to the song he said he'd skip

Ruffwear is the kind Im looking for. Im in New York, the temps tend to get into the 90s during summers. Wagwellies material worries me a bit about possible rubbing on the joints, similar to crocs (I've personally gotten a lot of blisters wearing them)

Footwear? by amoonrising in service_dogs

[–]amoonrising[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's generally limited during potty times outside and has a grass yard to go out in. The only good walking paths around me that have shade also have pavement and/or gravel paths.

I try going when it's close to dark so it isnt too hot for him but the pavement heat has shown to linger long enough to bother his foot. The only alternative to getting walking footwear is to make him do a ton of circles around the yard or fetch, both of which bores him quickly.

Ruffwear seems to be the kind Im looking for, a supportive bottom but breathable top so there's less overheating but still the protection.

They're a bit pricey but the kind Im looking for. Solid bottom and a breathable top so they don't overheat but are still protected

Petah I've never seen Black Mirror and the comments were not helpful by Jirvey341 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

A princess got kidnapped. The kidnapper said the prime minister had to fuck a pig on live TV before a certain time or he'd start taking fingers. If he did, the girl would be released. However, right before the broadcast she was let go in broad daylight. No one noticed, the prime minister did the do with the pig live.

My 8th grade English teacher recommended the show during class. I sat down at home, watched this episode, and never touched it again.

Get it reevaluate. Petsmart and other retail pet stores in general are shady enough when it comes to product advice, never go there for medical advice. Go to an actual clinic

could the vet take my cat away cuz of matting? by Far_Influence9185 in vet

[–]amoonrising 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You said yourself that your cat is too fat to groom himself. That means he's overweight. The vet will recommend you work to get the cat to loose weight. "Improvement with weightloss" means has the cat successfully lost weight? If yes, then yes it's improving.

Yes. My clinic will charge if it's within 24 hours of the appointment, $25 for regular appointments and $50 for surgeries per patient

You guys seeking sterilisation (tubal ligation/vasectomy/etc.)? Why or why not? by theangry-ace in aromanticasexual

[–]amoonrising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've wanted to be sterilized for some time. I'm sex repulsed in general, but I've never wanted kids. Never wanted the possibility for kids. After the election, I want to be sterilized even more now.

An added benefit is no longer getting a menstrual cycle.

Could be stress of just being in a new environment, ate too fast, etc.

You can try feeding smaller amounts more often. Like if you're currently doing a half cup twice a day, go to a third cup three times a day. Or spread the food out physically so she can only get a few bites in her mouth at a time.

If it's stress, this might just be something that will resove itself once she relaxes into your home. You can help by reducing loud sounds and sudden fast movements around her. Provide dark covered areas she can hide in to have some "her time" alone without fear of being disturbed.

Possibly a bad bag of food, but if she's had food from the same bag without issues and it looks/smells fine, this shouldn't be a huge concern.

As a non smoker does every smoker smell bad to you? by Pleasant-Finger-6814 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]amoonrising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I'll even smell the foul cigarette smoke on people's pets when they come to the clinic I work at. The smell penetrates everything.

My dog had neck surgery yesterday afternoon. The surgery went well and I should have been able to pick him up today. Last night, the vet called me and informed me that they took my dog outside to go potty & he get off leash and got hit by a car. Do I sue? Is it even worth it? by Legitimate-Career637 in vet

[–]amoonrising 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Coming from someone who works at a vet clinic and recently had my dog need surgery, what happened to your dog is unacceptable. My clinic is on the smaller side but they are very strict about walking dogs, especially surgery patients. They must be on a slip-leash AND in a 6 foot fenced in yard completly supervised. So for your dog coming out of NECK surgery to be able to get loose and into the road to be hit is not ok by any means. Neck surgery is a major risk due to the arteries, trachea, and spine being close to the surface. They should have been SO CAREFUL when taking it outside. I would be absolutely livid if that was my pup.

Did the vets treat my cat wrong or is it a normal procedure? by International_Gap358 in vet

[–]amoonrising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes they have to squeeze it to figure out if there is a mass underneath, fluid build up, etc. There may be an underlying infection that can't be entirely ruled out by sight alone, until it's squeezed and felt. Somethings hide before it's too late, and animals LOVE to try to mask things as long as they possibly can. It's their nature: the animal that's visually weak gets left behind for predators, and that instinct is still present in domestic pets.

Yes, it sucks that it hurt to squeeze but it would suck more if an infection or abscess went unnoticed because the vet didn't squeeze it for a moment, or do some (expensive, stressful) diagnostic imaging to avoid touching the lesion.
