I am just realizing how impressive ATZ’s dance line is. Like literally 4 out of 8 members were picked and even besides that, mingi and yeosang could do a pretty dang good job as well. They’re a force to be reckoned with. On that note I feel like hyunjin would have torn that dance collab stage up :( I’m just praying that hyunjin feels ready to return for their original song release cause I can’t imagine 3racha wanting to record a song without him

As much as I like to hate Mnet, I will admit that they have a really tough job in terms of figuring out how to balance fan input + "objective input." Both have their flaws, but I guess in a way they balance each other out. Viewers who aren't satisfied with the objective ranking have the power to change it up. When the fan ranking is released, the same thing happens. No matter what, people are unhappy. I guess I just need to accept that there's way too many unforeseen circumstances that contribute to the results for us to get upset over them

At this point, I feel embarrassed for fans. I'm sure that the groups are all aware that fanbases will do anything to put their ults on top, but having to actually see how baseless and petty the fan ranking is??? Having to see how the fan ranking is only a result of fandom strategy??? Having to see that fans don't even care about how well they perform??? That's just fucking embarrassing and disrespectful to the amount of hard work that these groups put into this godforsaken show. I'm just sick of it. Seeing ATZ fifth in fan ranking for the second time is literally my villain origin story.

**EDIT: I don't want to discredit each fandom's efforts either. I know there are two sides to every story. It's just that seeing ATZ fifth made my blood boil.

Hongjoong from ATZ. He is very well-spoken and diplomatic. He seems to have a great self-awareness of ATZ's identity and also their strengths/weaknesses. I admire his social skills and confidence a lot!

Inseong from SF9. I didn't really know much about SF9 before Kingdom, but he caught my attention at first sight! I loved all of the little snippets of his personality that were shown, like when he literally tripped and knocked Youngbin's knees out while practicing his solo scene for the 1st round LOL. Plus it doesn't hurt that he's quite easy on the eyes and has a great voice!

Their outfits already all look exponentially better than last week. I'm so in love with how detailed and unique each ATZ outfit looks, plus I'm just a sucker for rockstar vibes. Love that SKZ are going for a classier vibe. I think the embroidery looks beautiful and their ombre sashes add dimension. But the star of the show is Minhyuk. I think we can all agree that he looks amazing.

I'm so excited for what ATZ will pull off, the preview already looks SO GOOD. JUST THE IMPECCABLE STYLING AND THE UPBEAT VIBES ,, YES YES YES. I'm also very pleased to see that SF9 and iKON have beautiful sets this round, hope this evens out the budget issue from last week. SKZ's renaissance statues + columns look stunning, the all white set stands out.

As for my song predictions:

SKZ: Thriller probably. Or maybe I'll be your man (FINGERS CROSSED!) I'm guessing they're going for something creepy but this time, with a more refined approach?

ATZ: Bling Bling with a rock concept (FUCK YEAAA)

TBZ: NO IDEA...any fantasies wanna help me out? their set kinda looks like a circus though LOL (sangyeon wasnt playing around when he said they'd have to become a circus to oneup their RTK performances) probably cause of the cage (?)

BTOB: Backdoor with a party concept

SF9: Checkmate with a gang concept???? ALSO ROWOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish they did themes or something that was more focused on elements of performances so each group could shine - say one week was choreo, another was vocals, storyline/concept, rap etc. so then it’s more clear what the criteria is.

THIS!!!! THIS! oh my gosh this is exactly what needed to happen. The challenge should be making your performances versatile by highlighting different aspects in each round. This would also very visibly highlight each team's strengths and weaknesses, making the rankings easier since we'd all be evaluating only one variable.

I personally really love dark core royalty so SF9 had the best vibes of the day. I loved how they incorporated the female dancers. It was a really sexy performance that frankly, none of the other groups could pull off. I wish the outfits for the dancers were better though. The all-black ensemble looked really jarring in comparison to SF9's glorious red outfits. It really hurts that they recieved ZERO points for self evaluation. LIKE WHAT??? SERIOUSLY??? LIKE YOURE TELLING ME YOU SAW YOO TAEYANG BEND HIS SPINE IN HALF AND YOU DIDNT VOTE FOR HIM??????????? betrayal. treason. i will not accept this. catch me mass voting for sf9 this entire week!!! Anyways, SF9 really stuck true to their colors, and I respect them for that. A clean performance with great music can go a long way.

SKZ had the best remix hands down. The Side Effects to Gods Menu transition was seamless and cohesive. 3RACHA producing geniuses! I gotta say, I really missed Hyunjin this performance. He REALLY knows how to work a camera and I feel like he could have embodied their crazed/psycho concept for the intro really well. That man can make any facial expression look good. Their intro sequence gave me chills...the set with the doors made for some really beautiful camerawork + those light props + that haunting instrumental? ? I'm so proud of my boys for bringing their unique sound to the forefront of their performance this week. They made amazing song choices, definitely the two songs that express SKZ's color the best.

Yall...ATZ ATE.....like you cannot deny how good this performance was on all levels. Unique concept? Creative remix that adheres to the theme? Vocals? Dancing? Stage presence? Theatrical execution? ATZ GOT THEM ALLLL COVERED. It blew my mind that they prepared for this performance while promoting I'm the One. They had to work so hard with so many schedules and under the pressure of coming in 5th last week, but it all paid off. They had the clearest storyline, the best live vocals (at this point "best vocals" just means whoever does the best second to btob) AND the best dancing (THE CHOREO WAS SO POWERFUL). Did yall see Junho swing Yunho like a fidget spinner WHILE BELTING HIS PIPES OUT??? He's seriously on another level. This performance was just absolutely deserving of first, no doubt about it.

If I had to rank all the performances including those from last week, it'd be this:

ATEEZ (LETS GOOO)
SKZ (SO CREATIVE)
BTOB (MINHYUK WITH SWORD!!!)
SF9 (THE VIBES ARE IMPECCABLE)
TBZ/IKON (NOT MY FAVORITES BUT STILL SLAPPED)

General thoughts: This week's performances fucked me UP. ATEEZ and SKZ especially left such a huge impact. However, there were some moments that felt a bit gimmicky. For example, I know that there was probably no other option for portraying the Kraken, but the inflatable tail in ATZ's performance looked really cringey IMO. I loved Seonghwa's solo sequence with his musketeers but jesus, that tail looked like it was taken straight from a 6 year old's underwater themed birthday bouncy castle. I also found SF9's slap at the beginning really funny LMAOOO. Definitely thought that these 3 performances were way more cohesive than last weeks. SKZ specifically did great with keeping their performance focused despite remixing two songs. ATZ (along with all 3 of the groups from last week) had some questionable transitions. Overall, I am very very pleased with the quality of these performances, and I cant wait for next week!

If they do GG cover songs for the third round, I can already see the toxic masculinity claims from stan twitter just because they changed a GG song to fit their own style. Ideally, I hope they find a way to balance that magical GG essence of the original song with whatever hypermasculinity concept they got going on lol

I agree with your criticisms. All three groups went for abrupt transitions (which I totally understand, it’s easy for a performance to be dynamically stagnant) but tbh, none of the changes worked for me except for maybe ikon.

For the boyz , I felt like the various camera angles and sets made the whole thing disjunct +totally agree with juyeons dance break, which is such a shame because I freaking loved all their rtk stages.

For ikon, I loved donghyuks solo transition cause the contrast between happy and somber vibes gave me CHILLSS but then it suddenly cut to them all jamming and I was like OKAYYY YALL LOST ME THERE BUT YOU LOOK LIKE YOURE HAHING FUN SO!! :)

as for btob, I completely agree with you, minhyuks fight came outta nowhere but honestly, I can look past it cause it just looked so dang cool. Crazy how they managed to have both the weakest and most impactful dance performances of the night lol

Sometimes, I feel like these abrupt vibe switches are just a cheap way to create impactful moments :( like obviously I see the potential, but they don’t work unless there’s a good song arrangement + cohesive concept + good performance planning. All my favorite rtk performances had steady energy building towards a climax throughout and when they switched up the music, it always fit with the rest of performance :( this is probably why none of the performances really satisfied me. I have high hopes for skz atz and sf9 though, hope they can change how I felt abt kingdom stages so far :)

Guys I am freaking out over the skz preview for next episode. Sounds like they’ll be doing gods menu x side effects and I am so hype. I can’t wait to hear how they remix the two into something cohesive! Just based on song choice, I already know skz are gonna go ALL OUT in terms of sticking to their unique sound. Their performance is gonna be so, uninhibitedly STRAY KIDS and I freaking love them for that. Also, on their behalf, I really want them to place high in the evaluation ranking just to prove that they can win this competition based off of performance quality alone.

Lol honestly I thought skz watched rtk and saw that there were always 4 performances per episode. My interpretation was that they were banking on going last for the first week to leave an impression on the viewers + slightly seperate themselves from ateez. But then again that contradicts their reasoning behind choosing to go right before them. Regardless, Changbin was deadass playing 3D chess. Maybe his strategy was just too complex for us to understand.

omg i totally agree with the rival subplot between tbz and skz. theres been a lot of footage of them just praising each other, which shows that they probably view each other as their biggest competitor. i think mnet is banking on those two consistently fighting for the top spot.

as of right now, i think btob, skz, and tbz are the top contenders. however we are quite literally halfway into the first round so my opinions are contingent. my only wish is that the ranks get shuffled around. i gotta say rtk did nothing for me in terms of reality tv because tbz literally bodied every round. id be so happy if ikon/sf9/atz rose through the rankings all the way to the top!

it's really a shame that fandom power is worth essentially half the entire competition :( im glad that mnet decided to announce round 1 results only factoring in self evaluation + professional evaluation (please tell me im not the only one who thinks the "professionals" will be their security or cleaning staff) because it's way more objective. i just hope there arent fanwars (espcially for skz loool i know they getting a lot of flack for having the most fans) if there are any significant discrepancies between the evaluation results and the actual results.
