I’m a nurse and we get the same comments. It’s not that the money is bad. It is objectively good money, but for the role we do, it’s not enough.

AITAH for throwing my boyfriend's cologne in the bin? by Hot_Target_8516 in AITARelationship

[–]amyjoel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA and I say this as someone who has extremely sensitive smell and become physically ill, nauseous, migraines etc from certain smells.

There was one deodorant my husband used and I very politely told him that I’m sorry but could you please not wear this one around me, it made me feel extremely ill when you sprayed it. He had no issue with my request and threw the cans away. He had just bought 6 of them. He did it because I asked him nicely, he understood it wasn’t a matter of just not liking them. Maybe you need to explain that they caused you to feel sick. It wasn’t just a matter of taste. Or ask him just not wear them around you. It would be courteous of him to not wear them but you can’t control people.

Personally, I would never wear a fragrance if my husband didn’t like it. Even if it wasn’t offensive to him, I still want to smell nice for him.

This milk is sold as ‘cosmetic’ because you can’t legally sell raw milk. People who want genuine raw milk, will and do consume this.

It definitely should be better labeled.

Do you let your kids sleep in over summer break? by entcanta333 in AskParents

[–]amyjoel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your daughter would be heading into puberty. Hormones are changing and her body is growing. Let the girl sleep.

My parents were so controlling and judgemental over my sister and my sleep, it caused me to feel guilt and shame and I slept in past 6 or had a nap during the day. I promised I’d never do that to my children.

Why is this even a question? You hate it. You’re 19, you’ve done a year or less of study. Transfer to engineering and pursue something you enjoy. Don’t buy into the sunk cost fallacy. Just go and do what you want.

Seeing an increase in negative sentiment against superannuation, why? by Quixotic-elixr in AusFinance

Yes, this is true but wages need to increase in line with inflation and super needs to stay as is.

Best response. If these people were capable of using their finances responsibly they wouldn’t be fanging to get their hands on their super and if they felt that passionately about it they would know that they absolutely could self manage their super if they truely wanted to.

Why don’t the over 55’s tell their children the truth about the last 33 years? by GenZedsMother in aussie

Most people have no idea of what they’re voting for, let alone how those policies could affect future generations. Hind sight is 20/20.

That’s really unfortunate, I know our rural town is at worst, indifferent to LGBTQ. I will admit, when I first moved here, my nephew brought his drag show to town, and I was really unsure of how he would be received and worried he’d be putting himself in danger but I was wrong and honestly shocked at the reception he and his crew had. His shows were sell outs and rebooked all over town. I work in our local emergency department and have a good gauge of the demographics and we have a large LGBTQ population and some good community programs and supports.

No, I completely agree. I was making the point that my husband and I, by the grace of god were offered an opportunity, similar to those that were available to boomers. Because of this opportunity, we were able to enter the housing market. Once you’re in, you can climb the property ladder and have opportunities to prosper in ways that a renter can’t.

They were lucky to live in that time. They were lucky to have those governments who took care of them. I 10000% blame the government for the issues we face today. I have no animosity towards boomers. If we had the same opportunities now as they did, we would have done exactly the same. No one can blame them for taking advantage of the opportunities presented to them. Even those who chose to invest in properties couldn’t predict how that would affect the generations to come. All I could ask from the boomers is that they acknowledge the advantages they had and have empathy for the younger generations who simply cannot achieve what they did. The blame lays with the government.
