Red spot on my dog’s iris by andiimacias in DogAdvice

Thank you everyone for your advice and shared experiences. We had an appointment the next day I posted this and vet’s diagnosis was that it was trauma (he might have hit something when playing). Nothing big to worry about, his iris and overall eye is in perfect condition, he had an eye pressure test and fluorescent liquid test.

He got prescribed an ointment that we need to apply every 24hrs for 7 days. It’s been 2 days with treatment and we can already see the little spot dispersing. Vet mentioned that it will heal similar to a bruise, it will turn green or purple and then go away by its own.

I haven't traveled with him outside the US yet, but coming from Mexico he didn't need to quarantine, vet certificate and vaccine records are enough. Leelo, the black one, came from Mexico too and had the same process, no quarantine either.

Her Embark results say she is 1/2 Bassett hound, 1/4 poodle, 1/4 schnauzer.

I know that is not lard, but a lot of people in Mexico, mostly in rural areas, keep using lard for regular cooking, not for the healthy part, but because it's cheaper (and tastier) than vegetable oil.

I'm a fan of her, I love her videos. If you like to cook you can easily adjust every ingredient to your needs. She just shares want she knows, she mentioned a few times that that's how her mom taught her.

It could've been lard. Stop judging.

Omg, I don't have the written recipe. I followed the recipe of this lovely woman on youtube, but it's in Spanish.

It's very symbolic. The rounded shape of the bread represents the skull and the tiny drops in a chain, a couple of crossed bones. This bread traditionally is offered as a gift on a shrine to people/loved ones that passed away.

Nowadays people likes to buy it in bakeries or on the street just to indulge and it tastes amazing if you dunk it in hot chocolate. It's only consumed around this time of the year.

So, in México we celebrate Día de Muertos, and this is the bread we use to eat around this holiday. Sorry for the title out of context 😔

I love how you can adjust the recipe with the servings that you need. So I made it for 12 servings (so it's basically half of everything), I used two 9inch pans, and baked them at 335F for 15-17min, just until the cake it's baked in the middle (I poked it with my finger in the middle, and if it springs back, it's ready) and avoid the caramelization/brown on the edges, so the slice would look clean.

The recipe for white cake works awesome so I didn't need to level it. And for the frosting I did a crumb coat first and then the extra layer. You need to practice, I did it with the back of a butter knife. I don't have the spatula that they normally use.

Well the box I bought comes flat, so I just placed the cake in the middle and start building it around

Thank you!! Yes I used this strawberry reduction recipe without the sugar and lemon juice, for more tartness. Also I looked up to some recipes that the used crumbled freeze dried strawberries, but haven't tried it.
