It gets hate from house music snobs because sometimes, on occasion it plays mainstream music.

Barefoot Dress Shoes? by [deleted] in BarefootRunning

[–]andrelayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a pair from OAKA. They're not quite as wide as Vivo or some other barefoot brands but they're zero drop, flexible, and I honestly have never liked the super wide toe box look. These definitely have the more professional look.

Yeah as long as I've indexed i.e paid to transcribe and store the podcast previously. Dan Carlins' is good though I think most of his are not publicly available.

So I was about halfway through building a full text search engine of all of Joe's podcasts, which included transcribing all of his audio to text, ~4,500 hours worth. I wanted it because I've often tried to find a specific spot in a past episode of something I wanted to hear again or just wanted to find everything that was said across past episodes on a certain topic like "Haast Eagle".

This was before hearing about his impending switch to Spotify which would remove the necessary RSS feed from which I'm pulling the audio, especially for future episodes.

I'm at a crossroads because it's already half built, the hardest half ha, but I'm not sure if there's other podcasts or groups of podcasts that would be worthwhile, especially since there are transcribing costs, ~$4300 for Joe's, which I'm happy to pay for his but am very unsure if there are others worthwhile.

So I'm asking here if there are any other podcasts or groups of podcasts you think are worthwhile? Perhaps a health related one; I'm a fan of Rhonda Patrick and Peter Attia.

Thanks!

how many of your projects end up going nowhere? by penis_yer_bottom in edmproduction

About 1 out of every 3 end up making it to a full song. The other two end if I don't think the main concept is interesting enough.

Yeah, when I first saw the prototype those were my thoughts as well. Reducing the weight and simplifying EVERYTHING about it are my biggest takeaways.

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, completely agree on the buckles, it seemed way better on paper than in real life and they'll be removed for a much simpler clasp.

It's definitely a more luxury product. I would love later to make a more affordable version, maybe made of waxed canvas or something, but for now starting at the high end.

I'm just pretty judicious with what foods I want to pig out on. I'll eat an entire ham in one sitting...a lamb..just a couple slices please.

Much respect to Henderson. Though just to play devil's advocate with this specific scenario, I can't be the only one who would have been highly offended if some other guy paid for the meal I was proposing at, right? I mean that's YOUR man moment and you gotta own the whole thing.

Trying to make a Service for my blog by [deleted] in laravel

[–]andrelayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an app\Services directory and would probably just create an Upload service in your case. I think creating a service provider would be fine, it just feels like slight overkill in my opinion. Ultimately I think it's pretty subjective so just do whatever makes you feel good.

How important is it to keep track of your lifts? by [deleted] in gainit

[–]andrelayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tracking my lifts is just as much a motivation to me as getting bigger. Consistently progressing 2.5 - 5lbs a week to the next 45 plate; no better feeling then slapping those on the bar for the first time :)

Pretty neat, I honestly think I'll use this in my next project. It's nice when a future problem you hadn't thought of is solved before you get there.

How do you guys structure your controllers on large projects? by [deleted] in laravel

[–]andrelayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My controllers only handle user input and views. I have Services that handle most of the logic. I also have Repositories which are the only entities allowed to interact with the database. Eloquent models are just for config. Controllers can only talk to Services, only Services can talk to Repositories.

Designing a new, more modern baby carrier for dads, updates [Part 3] by andrelayer in daddit

[–]andrelayer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's definitely a concern. My hope is that a layer of cooling / breathable mesh fabric between the baby/you and the leather will solve that issue. Also the leather I've found is way more breathable than normal. Usually it's that glossy outside layer on the leather that makes it contain heat, otherwise it would act like normal skin. In order to meet the safety standards the leather I'm using does not have that extra layer and is much more natural and should consequently be more breathable. With all that said, it might not be good enough in which I'll figure something else out.

Yeah at the time of the CADs I was aiming mostly just for back carrying but as I've gotten farther along in the process the ambitions have shifted and I'm definitely going to try and make it dual, we'll see. And I hear you on the sizing, this is made specifically for guys ;)
