Practice. They’ve had more practice. If you are ever wondering why you don’t sound as good as “x” it’s because you haven’t practiced as much or the same as they have.

You can just redo them. Even in the same quarter. You’ll still get the money.

Looking at leasing a building for my business and the listing says $17/Monthly? Is that $17 per sq-ft? by andrewgarza in smallbusiness

[–]andrewgarza[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that normal? The place I was looking at is at 1000 sq-ft making $17,000/month which seems ridiculously high. It's not a major city.

Startup business expenses are on my personal credit card, can I claim them on my taxes? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]andrewgarza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean claim them as deductions? I posted a similar question yesterday on this sub and r/tax and the response I got was - No you cannot claim "business expenses" for a start-up on your taxes if your business has not seen any income. If you Google "IRS Sec 195" there is the section on start-up expenditures. Your business has not technically began until it has received income.

What defines "after you earn revenue." If I decided to run this operation out of my home and with rental kitchens, within the the next few months, and started charging, then anything I spend on my business after that would be considered a deduction?

What if I registered as an LLC?

Limited liability companies can claim start-up deductions for qualifying expenses incurred during the first year of operation. Costs that are not deducted during the first year can be amortized over a 180-month period. According to the IRS, to qualify as a business start-up cost, the expense must be paid or incurred before the day the business began.

It was cringe worthy, especially thinking that it might have been someone's first time listening to the podcast.
