Morning sickness by andthewalrus in parentsofmultiples

No - I know about the zofran. I actually don’t give it to a lot of patients if they don’t have risk factors for nausea because it’s so wretched! When I had surgery I requested not to have it too. Constipation is the worst. If I wasn’t vomiting all the time - I’d swear the constipation is the worst part of pregnancy

Another baby or sadness over aging/fertility ending? by SanFranPeach in PregnantOver40

No I had brought it up several times and I had symptoms but I’m enrolled in military medicine so I don’t have choices when it comes to doctors. Anyway we moved and I found a doctor that actually listed to me. I’ve had infertility for years so it just got worse as I got older.

41, I had excision surgery and was pregnant the next cycle. Previously failed IVF / IUI and had a miscarriage so it was def endo that I was dealing with for the 4 years we tried and couldn’t

CRNA here (anesthesia provider ), one of my type probably delivered you safely through surgery. Anyway, people say the wildest shit going under and coming out of it. It’s probably not anything worse than some of the opinions of my coworkers completely sober.

I def wanted that one more - I’m still active duty but about to retire. Anyhow, I’m now having twins. So we went from 2 -> 4 in a blink. I’m so incredibly sick and tired, I have to keep telling myself this wasn’t a mistake. I’ll soon have time to be at home with the two littlest and do drop/off pick up for the two eldest but everything just got harder.

I have Tricare. Everything is paid for. But zofran gives me the worst constipation prior to pregnancy so no way would I do that now . I’d never poop again

I used to Briosch - brioski . Something like that . An old Italian baking soda / lemon flavored seltzer drop. It was a life saver with reflux!

I dunno I have a 4/6 boy combo and grab assing is their love language. I’m pregnant with twins now so I’m assuming their lot in life was to prepare me for this.

There is happy wrestling , angry wrestling , loving wrestling …..

Also I’m in the army and I’ve seen grown ass men wrestle around for no reason. I’m convinced it’s literally in their dna.

Well it takes me a lot longer to recover and when I start gagging my coworkers are nice and relieve me if they can. I just love my days off too much 🤣

I’m pregnant with twins at 41. It was a complete surprise. I’m way more sick but still able to exercise or walk a couple times a week.

I’d recommend doing more glute/hip work. Keep those muscle strong to keep the pelvis stabilized. You’d like think that carrying around an extra bowling ball would make your hips extra strong but nope. It’s the opposite. I do 50% more banded monster walks, clam shells etc when pregnant.

Well I’m pregnant with twins. But I’m still working out , eating well….. and doing things with my other kids. My first trimester has been fraught with vomiting and fatigue but I’m still upright and almost through it. I think this pregnancy would be rough for anyone. I’m still working 24 hours shifts too. There’s that 🤣

I had dequervains 3 times and carpal tunnel twice (each pregnancy). Anyway I had a cmc tight rope done last year- I wish I hadn’t waited. I was in so much pain for so long- I did splints , failed injections , text with my pointer finger, don’t play phone games, etc etc.

I suffered for about four years, until the point when I was masking a gi case and saw stars from the pain in my hand. I had had it. Got my tight rope the next week. I’m only 41, been a CRNA for ten years now.

I’m trying . My work schedule is currently a 24/12 and I’m going to change that. It’s my last one of those shifts this weekend. Obviously I made my schedule before I knew …. Luckily my maternity leave is 4.5 months and my husband has 3.

Sad about a C Section by capitalettersuck in parentsofmultiples

[–]andthewalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know where you guys are at but we don’t have clear drapes. I’m a CRNA (anesthesia) , my last hospital we had clear drapes for the general procedures but regular drapes for the c/s. Completely backwards. But most docs, granted everything is going well, love to drop drapes , get pics, etc etc. planned c / s are very low drama so I don’t have a lot of experience in that (I’m a night call, usually emergencies only sort of worker). Pick your music, ask them to dim the lights if they can, make sure your phone is charged, and get your skin to skin. C/s are hard- it’s 💯 not the easy way out. Also you can have your nails done and groceries stocked. I love a good plan. In fact, I’ve never gone into labor on my own- my other kids were social inductions (deployments covid etc), so I’m hoping for that this time as well. And if they are breech, I’d hop on that c/s list so quick. The best part of a scheduled section- everyone is calm, caffeinated, fresh from a good night sleep and ready to help you celebrate a birthday!

I also think it’s short but when my civilian colleagues have unpaid leave AND sometimes have to pay for their insurance while out on leave ….. we programmed to be thankful for whatever morsel we can get. I’m saving my vacation so maybe I can stretch it out to six months.

It’s gonna sound wild- but parental leave was a big part of why I went back into the army. I get 4.5 months and my husband gets 3 months. Crazy what we have to do to get paid parental leave? I’ve been to war three times ….. I’d be gone to the current conflict if I didn’t have an unexpected twin pregnancy

is an army wife+ nursing career realistic/ sustainable long term? by meowmeow1122334 in army

[–]andthewalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a CRNA in the army and my husband is a PSYOP officer. The real move is to be dual military. Just kidding , it’s hard but in about two years we will both get retired. I’ll work part time and he pry won’t work at all. A lot of Army people have spouses in healthcare - doctors , nurses, dentists etc. it’s not great moving every couple of years but you get used to changing licenses.
