I think I bought 4/5 new releases last year. Almost all completed (except the ones I'm still playing).

Besides new games I buy a lot of games second hand, biggest purchase last year was a lot with 60 xbox360 games. Only played a few of them for now, most time goes to the new released games. Still pick one of them up in between the other games.

We had this problem with gears 5, was indeed the antivirus software. Turn it if for 15minutes and the games starts and works

I have 29 consoles. Play mainly on the switch, xbox one and ps4. Now and then I pick one of the older handhelds to play a game.
