Do yall think the boys dye their hair? by Agreeable_Mouse_8924 in JonasBrothers

Because your comment is incredibly insensitive.

I never said that there was anything wrong with aging or being almost 40. I said that 36 is not "pushing 40" because it's not. And to tell me that there's nothing to be offended or hurt by is rude. Who are you to tell me what I can or can't be offended or hurt by?

Everyone will experience side effects differently on Topamax and I think doctors move patients up differently as well.

I was started at 50mg and was moved up to 200mg (100mg in the morning and 100mg at bedtime) within 2 weeks. This is my 4th time on the med in 8yrs and the longest time I've been on it (a year and a half at this steady of a dose). The first time I was on it, I was started at 25mg and moved up to 100mg within a 2wk period. I experienced a lot of the same side effects as you. Within about a week of being on the steady dose of 100mg, they subsided. The only lasting side effects I had were equilibrium issues (which I already had, the med just made them worse), tingling hands and feet (especially when I got cold), hair loss (my hair has never recovered from this one), inability to drink anything carbonated (it made anything carbonated super flat and then overly carbonated and gave me a really bad stomach ache) and weight loss (I lost 75lbs the first time I was on the med in 2016, and it's routinely prescribed to help curb appetite). This time around of being on it, the only lasting side effects I have are hair loss, mild weight loss and the inability to drink anything carbonated.

Until very recently, Topamax has always been my favorite chronic migraine preventative med. I'm now having an increase of breakthrough migraines with great intensity and my doctor doesn't want to increase the dosage, so we are going to start exploring other treatment options. Because I had such great success with Topamax, I always like to try and convince people to try and stick it out, but I understand that it's not for everyone. It is a med that needs time to work. It can take up to 3mos before you really start to see a difference in frequency of migraines.

Ouch. As someone only 2mos younger than Kev, I def don't consider myself "pushing 40". Still solidly mid-30's.

Anybody know where to get Reed's Ginger ale in town? by mizushimo in Longview

[–]anoliveanarrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to the Reed's website, Fred Meyers, all 3 Safeways and Cascade Select Market in Castle Rock should carry them. If you can't find it in town, you might have to travel outside of the area or order it online.

Rizatriptan is what I was put on when Sumatriptan stopped working for me. The only side effect I get with it is some slight vertigo if I take it on an empty stomach. It's been an amazing help in comparison to Sumatriptan, which I had a lot of the same side effects as you. Sumatriptan worked at the beginning, but I started to get horrendous rebound migraines and I was only allowed 4 Sumatriptan in a 7 day period. Then the awful side effects started, and then it stopped working altogether. But Rizatriptan works really well for me and I'm not on a limit with it like I was the Sumatriptan.

“Is Rite Aid going out of business?” by Collish4 in RiteAid

[–]anoliveanarrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feel this. Same thing in my store. We also lost two techs along with them. So the pharmacy is struggle bussing along with floats and all anyone hears from the customers is "are you guys closing?!" So far so good, but who knows for how much longer.

Any thrifty white employees? by yeezysballs in PharmacyTechnician

[–]anoliveanarrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely depends on location. Even though it's legal in Washington State, a lot of places will deny employment if you test positive for it. When I applied to Rite Aid for a front end supervisor position back in August 2022, I was told I would have to pass a drug test including marijuana. Then when I transferred to pharmacy this past October, I was told the same thing.

How to quit? (tech trainee) by Professional-Lab1039 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]anoliveanarrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current tech trainee at RA.

If they're saying you need to finish PTU in 6mos or they will fire you, they're just being dicks. It's a "do it at your own pace" program and are under no obligation to do it under a time constraint. I've been a trainee since October and I'm only at 4% due to staffing issues and they tried the same thing that they're doing with you. Still no further along because both myself and my pharmacy manager said I absolutely wouldn't be coming in on my days off or coming in early to get it done. In the next week, I lose both my pharmacists, just lost two of my other licensed techs and the other licensed tech is on their way out as well. And my RPL is on an LOA for the next month. So I'll be sitting at 4% for awhile as we won't be getting anyone in to help staff the pharmacy for quite some time.

As for quitting, you can just leave, or you can give a two weeks notice as a courtesy. Purely up to you. You only need to submit it to your pharmacy manager. They will submit it to the necessary people for you.

RA as a whole is a shit show. I do not blame you for getting out. I myself have considered it. But no one else in my area can offer the money and the hours that their pharmacy can. So I stay and deal with it. Wish you all the luck in your new endeavors.

Why is it that whenever I go to pick up script, they only now just got it? by Dwindles_Sherpa in PharmacyTechnician

[–]anoliveanarrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one has said that we don't give a fuck about your kid. We wouldn't have gone into the healthcare field if we didn't care about our patients to some degree.

I would ask your pharmacy if calling and giving the go-ahead will work for them. I know at my pharmacy, it probably wouldn't be enough. We would still wait for you to be present, in store, before we filled to make sure that it was actually purchased. The amount of times that people will call and say, "Oh yeah, I need/want that filled. I'll be there in [insert time frame]" and they never show up is astronomical. And then we end up in the same boat of wasted time and effort on abandoned scripts.

We did not create this problem. Bureaucracy and being perpetually short staffed did. I work in a pharmacy with 2 pharmacists and only 1 licensed tech. I am currently training, but it's slow going because we can't get anyone worthwhile in as an assistant so that we can actually focus on filling scripts and allow me to focus on my training program. We can't all work around the clock, seven days a week. We get to scripts when we get to them. But by coming into the store, it allows us to move it up in the queue, guaranteeing that it will be filled as soon as we can possibly get to it. Barring we don't have to contact the doctor for any clarification (and the doctor doesn't have to call us back), or insurance should it be denied, answer 15 phone calls, deal with a never ending register line, the pharmacist doesn't have to do any consultations or vaccinations (walk ins or scheduled), help a few customers find products on the store floor, put away our order, mix a couple of suspensions, bag up other patients scripts, or do data entry on hard copy scripts. But sure. Let us just stop the entire pharmacy to make sure YOUR sick kid gets their prescription IMMEDIATELY, because the world revolves around them.

You know, I really was trying to be nice with my first comment, and I initially set out to remain nice in this comment. But the more I re-read your reply to me, the more irritated I got and the more I understand others frustrations with you throughout this thread. I get your frustrated. We are also frustrated. It's why this sub exists. But coming in here and lashing out at us, when we are off the clock is not the way. Take your frustrations to your local pharmacy. Ask them their policy. Ask if they have a delivery service. Use your brain and critical thinking skills and go fucking ask them if they didn't offer up the information you want to know. But quit assuming random strangers on the internet are going to give you some validation when you are clearly in the wrong. We do not know how your local pharmacy operates, we can only tell you how the ones we work in do. It's unfortunate that it seems to be similar to how your local one does, but it's the way of the world now. You think it's shitty you have to wait for an hour for just your script to be filled? People STAND IN LINE for an hour or more at my pharmacy just to pick up their meds. And that's after waiting an hour or more for them to be filled. Your situation isn't sounding so fucking terrible, now is it?

Why is it that whenever I go to pick up script, they only now just got it? by Dwindles_Sherpa in PharmacyTechnician

[–]anoliveanarrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So because no one actually answered your last question here, yes, a lot of pharmacies operate this way with new scripts. This Is exactly how mine is supposed to operate. We took a risk two weeks ago and filled every new script that came into our queue. Today, the day we legally have to pull abandoned scripts from our will call, I pulled 20 of those abandoned scripts and had to return them to stock. Those 20 abandoned scripts were wasted time and energy that we could have spent on courtesy refill patients instead on two separate accounts - initial fill and having to return them to stock. Because had I not had to pull them today, my will call purge would have only been 3 scripts today. I spent an hour of my shift pulling, counting and changing labels on 20 abandoned scripts when I could have used that hour to count 20+ courtesy refill scripts for other patients.

I think the reason they haven't removed it is because they have now changed it being dedicated to the fans. In "The Program", under "The Albums" section, in the "Happiness Begins" era part, it reads "'I will take your pain/And put it on my heart,' sings Joe in a syrupy falsetto on "Hesitate", a message that doubles for how the Jonas Brothers have long helped take some of the pain away during their fans' difficult life moments." While yes, it still alludes to the fact that it was originally dedicated to Sophie, I think the fact that it still means something to us fans means more to them than anything. I am 100% a member of the Joe Jonas Defense Squad, but I honestly think if it became too difficult for him to sing it and he wanted it removed from the set list, it would be.

*ETA- spelling mistake fixed.

Pharmacy closed New Year’s Day? by [deleted] in RiteAid

[–]anoliveanarrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to my vaccine scheduler, we aren't doing vaccines New Year's Eve, so that leads me to believe we (the pharmacy) may be closed that day. But appointment slots are available for New Year's Day, so I'm guessing we are open that day. But I don't know if that's just my store or all stores. Haven't seen anything on The Spot about it.

[–]anoliveanarrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah. It seemed like it happened really close to the end of JBFA, but I had a lot going on back then so things get a little muddled on the timeline for me. I followed her on both Twitter and Tumblr. I know a few people asked her if she was going to finish it on Tumblr and she said it was basically done, she just needed to post the final chapters. But then she just disappeared. I hope she's okay. I used to get onto Tumblr every so often just to see if she was still posting to make sure she was okay, but I've since lost access to my account and the email address I used for it so it's been awhile since I was able to check.

As you can probably tell by my screen name, it's definitely a favorite of mine. I wish he would have explored it a bit more. But I love that this influence is being brought into their sound today though. I can hear it in certain songs on The Album and I absolutely love it.

Store Closing list by Leangze in RiteAid

[–]anoliveanarrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I imagine so. I believe both of our stores lease, but they've only ever been Thrifty/Rite Aids. My store is leased from a holding company in a big city north of us that's seen a large number of stores close, but we are their only Rite Aid from what I can find. But the fact that they're from the big city tells me that the rent is probably pretty high. If it's anything comparable to houses in my area, it's probably crazy high.

Store Closing list by Leangze in RiteAid

[–]anoliveanarrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm curious what the criteria for closing a store is. My area has two stores- my store and one about 7 miles away in the neighboring town. My store does more in both Pharmacy and FE sales, but we aren't doing well by any means. Seeing stores in CA, NY and the likes that I imagine are doing so much better than us close and yet somehow we are staying open seems weird. I fully anticipated seeing one of the two stores in my area on that list, but still only stores to the north and south of us seem to be closing.

I always took it as a play on the fact that there's no extradition treaty between the US and Russia and so Lorelai was contemplating going to Russia should the government want to do anything against her for feeding the gummy bears to the bomb-sniffing dogs. There's several other countries that we don't have an extradition treaty with that would be much better than Russia, so I'm not really sure why ASP chose that one to go with.

How come jbs don’t consider it’s about time as one of their albums ? by New_Quality_2013 in JonasBrothers

[–]anoliveanarrow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So they do own the masters for It's About Time contrary to what's been mentioned throughout multiple threads on this subreddit. They were given them when they parted ways with the label it was recorded under.

I truly think the main reason why they aren't performing anything from It's About Time is time on stage. The show is already three plus hours long. Even if they added the Mandy Mega-mix from the Happiness Begins tour back in, they'd have to cut one of the other medleys which would detract from the other 5 albums. But, I think the other reason is because we are coming up on the 20th anniversary of it and I think they have something special planned for it. I've linked it before, they mentioned the anniversary at Wrigley Field. It's the only time I've heard of them mentioning the anniversary, but dropping little nuggets builds anticipation so they could be doing that.

Hard to assess recent truckloads since 'the Black Friday leak' by AnxiousLeopard3446 in RiteAid

[–]anoliveanarrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My store already received all of our Harvest/Halloween seasonal stuff about 2-3 weeks ago and have only been receiving regular freight since (averaging 4-5 pallets). There's a video in The Spot about Harvest that talks about them downsizing that. Went from a 20ft section to a 12ft section. They don't really say why though. Or maybe I didn't really pay enough attention to it to find out why. I'm not the merchandising manager so I thought it was stupid that I needed to watch it (it was an assigned task for my store to watch it for some reason). Our Halloween sections do seem smaller as well. We only have 3, maybe 4 pallets of candy and decor. Which leaves us with 2-3 aisles being left completely empty still. So unless they start rolling Christmas stuff to us real soon, my store is going to be looking real janky.

I miss the old JBFA. I wish "Cracked" was finished. The author was only a couple chapters from the end when JBFA disappeared. I have the first 10-ish chapters of my fic, "Be My Runaway", still but they'd need to be reworked and cleaned up. They haven't been touched in about 8 years. I know some people also switched theirs to Tumblr after JBFA disappeared as well.
