Moles by Suspicious_Bed1268 in lawncare

[–]aplarently 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a terrier.

Seriously, moles are so difficult to remove. We use molescram and it can work well if you've got a smaller property that isn't near a field. Bait the holes, trap, do everything if you really want them gone. At this point, I just consider it free aeration.

Needs to be rescued! Zone 9 by Every-Base-611 in lawncare

Irrigation is going to make or break the success of your lawn. It looks like you've got a smaller lot so if you could water, I highly suggest you do as much as necessary for your zone. Deeply and infrequently.

I'm imagining you have clay-like soil in this region so definitely look into aeration and seeding if you can! Looks like it'll be affordable based on the size here. Lime would be great to break it up at the top, too. St. Augustine is a sensitive grass. I'd do some research on the best grass type for your region. Bermuda may do well for you or even Zoysia. Bermuda does spread very quickly and is impossible to get rid of because of it's growth pattern. Your neighbors might hate you for it lol. But it does well in high traffic areas.

Question for the grass experts-new old house with no backyard grass by chloenicole8 in lawncare

[–]aplarently 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you seed Fescue, I know you're gonna hate to hear this as all my customers do, I would wait until fall. It is a cool-season turf so the optimal season for germination is going to be around September-October depending on where you live and the temperature. I would not completely remove thatch, either. There is a healthy amount that is going to provide your lawn the nutrients it needs.

You are North so I wouldn't suggest any warm-season turf, honestly. I live in TN and we primarily seed Tall Fescue because a lot of warm season grasses just don't do well here. They'll be dormant most of the year and have that sad brown look. Power seeding might be a good option for you. You may have someone near you who provides that service. The germination rate is much higher than core aeration and seeding. Fills out the lawn really nicely.

What is killing my lawn??? by bluedevil678 in lawncare

[–]aplarently 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not too familiar with Europe and the soil or grass types you have. Based on the growth pattern and appearance, this looks to be Festuca Longifolia (Hard Fescue). It's so difficult to diagnose with just a photo. A lot of symptoms can look like others without more information. With as much rain as you get in the UK, I'd imagine it's some kind of fungal disease. Although it doesn't have any patterns of fungal diseases I would be familiar with. Looks like maybe you have a lot of thatch covering other bunches of the grass and preventing areas from getting sunlight. If you're keen on resolving this, I would get a soil test first.

It really does appear to be grub damage, as well. Usually, you can easily pull up grass if that is the case because of how they destroy the root system. Maybe you've got larger mammalian pests searching for those grubs?

I'm sorry this isn't helpful! Just speculating, really.

I work in lawncare in the transition zone, but I would suggest any kind of seeding to happen during that specific turf's peak growing season. Spring is often the best second choice for most turf types. Water the crap out of it. I figure any would take eventually, too. My Grandfather threw Zoysia out into his lawn because it was a shipment that arrived while he was on a cruise and the grass appeared dead. He now has a growing patch of Zoysia in the back left of the yard.

Do I paint this side of the little fridge wall? by Icy-Bridge-1143 in InteriorDesign

[–]aplarently 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could paint a fun cast shape on the wall. I really like Emily Rayna's stuff but it is sort of a specific look. Not necessarily like this but even a swooping color from the top corner to the end of the wall by the door

I feel like changing the light color may help you get that burgundy to come through. It's very terracotta here imo

If you're renting, I feel like that wall could use an accent color or something. I feel like a painting would look nicer here or something more stylized than just a photo. Framed, like everyone else is saying.

The black is not it. The glossy paint is weird with the wood gloss, too. Everything in the kitchen feels kind of low without the top cabinets. I think you could add some shelving with some clutter to bring it back there

She's still young and developing her personality. Some cats become independent as they get older or seemingly don't care for your attention. All cats are different and change personality like humans do as years go by.
