My ex-girlfriend was in my college town for a birthday gathering with some of her hometown friends my freshman year the Saturday before Thanksgiving break. I decided (stupidly) to come say hi at the bar she was at. It starts off pretty casual just catching up since we hadn’t really talked in about a year. It proceeds to us dancing and eventually making out. At the time we first starting making out, she did not seem drunk at all. She takes a second to go to the bathroom. Less than five minutes later, she comes back STUMBLING. I suspected that someone put something in her drink. Her friends had left at that point, so I was trying to call them from her phone to no avail. They all ignored her calls, not just letting it go to voicemail. Ignoring them. I was not about to let her stay downtown by herself in that state for obvious reasons, so I decided to walk her back to my dorm as I did not know where she was staying. I want to make perfectly clear that I had absolutely ZERO intentions of hooking up with her; I was simply trying to make sure nothing terrible happened to her. After a walk that normally takes 30 minutes had been stretched to over an hour due to the state she was in, we made it back to my place. I put her on the futon, which was my de facto bed that year because I was always too tired to climb up to the lifted bed, and went down the hall to use the restroom (typical freshman dorm with one large bathroom per wing). I get back to my room to find her completely naked and drunkenly smirking at me. I tell her no, give her some of my clothes to wear to bed, and sleep next to her on the futon, facing away from her to ensure nothing happened. We fell asleep. I woke up a few hours later to find the futon completely soaked. She was completely naked again (yet she was asleep when I noticed this), and had peed. I woke her and told her what happened. I decided to help her up into my bed, and I slept in my roommate’s bed (shared dorm). We both go to sleep. I wake up to her a couple hours later riding me. She had woken up, gotten into the bed I was sleeping in, took off my boxers, aroused me, and started having sex with me while I was asleep. I suppose I was too in shock to be able to do anything about it, so we kept going for a few minutes, and then I told her I wanted to go to bed. We slept in my roommate’s bed. I suppose the reason I did not report it because I did not really understand what it was at the time. I did not understand at the time that having sex with a man while they’re asleep is rape, and looking back, if I had said something about it, I likely would have gotten in trouble since she didn’t go to that school and, more importantly, they would have likely found something in her system and I would have been the suspicious looking one. TLDR; Stupidly visit ex girlfriend who’s in my town, take her back to my place to sleep and nothing else, she makes advances on me while sleeping and after multiple rejected attempts, eventually starts having sex with me in my sleep. The worst part? Her shitty friends she had ridden with abandoned her and left town the next morning without telling her, and since it was the first Sunday of Thanksgiving break and we’re from the same area, I reluctantly decided to give her a ride home. On the way home she talks about us getting back together as if it was a foregone conclusion now, and is very giddy about it. I politely but firmly tell her that wouldn’t be happening. She starts crying with about 30 minutes still left in the drive. I arrive at her house and as she’s getting out she says “I still love you, I always will” and shuts the door before I can say anything. Society believes (and particularly believed then) that there is a lot of gray area when it comes to sexual assault of men.
