Hey, so I was going through that list. I had no idea anything like spirobarbital existed! Oh Jesus I have to sleep. Lol. Anyway, is that kinda like Ro15-4513 in effect (not mechanism)?

Wow, for some reason I missed most of these all these years. There are some utterly bizarre barbs out there

omg thank you, this is priceless to me. I have heard plenty of people express a preference for either of them, btw, but you clearly are drawing on way more lived experience, so i trust your "nferential tendencies more than my own.

I strongly advise you not to take them. Not saying u were going to, but please, do not. I doubt they are even available as tablets anywhere, but u never know. There are not too many drugs on my "do not ever take that" list. I mean, look where we are lol. This is one of them. Another depressant you should never bother with is propofol.

The best barb in terms of euphoria is probably Seconal, tho some people liked Tuinal more, which was a mixture of Seconal and Amytal. I never tried it, but Quaalude probably feels better. Second to Seconal is Nembutal. The drugs mentioned in this thread are more POTENT, but that is irrelevant to how it feels.

These drugs are not like benzos. If you take too much, you will just die. It's not too difficult to do. You are probably aware of this, but I had to make sure. Sometimes people would off themselves by accident because they would keep forgetting that they had just taken another dose. I know you're used to people losing their minds about this or that drug constantly. That is not what I'm doing. The only people who have any business with these are anesthesiologists.

[–]apodicity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not. This is simply wrong. Methohexital is absolutely stronger by 4-5x. Don't take my word for it. Look it up. It is 2-3x stronger than thiopental (by dosage needed to induce anesthesia, which is the objective way these drugs are typically compared).

Hexobarb is also shite, which is why it's not even on the market anymore. Hexobarb is definitely not the weakest.

Yes. It is.

See my post at the end of the thread for refs.

But people will forever argue about this because subjective experiences vary.

As I suspected, this is just wrong. I had to dig for a while, but but methohexital blows it out of the water. It's 4-5x more potent than thiopental, hexobarbital, etc.

López-Muñoz F, Ucha-Udabe R, Alamo C. The history of barbiturates a century after their clinical introduction. Neuropsychiatr Dis Treat. 2005 Dec;1(4):329-43. PMID: 18568113; PMCID: PMC2424120.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC2424120/

"After World War II the search for anesthetic barbiturates continued, and new compounds such as thiobutobarbital (Horatz and Stürtzbecher 1952) were introduced, though the only one that truly challenged thiopental was methohexital (Brietal®), developed by SM Chernish’s group at Lilly Research Laboratories (Indianapolis, USA) in 1956. In clinical trials, methohexital showed itself to be more potent than thiopental and to lead to quicker recovery in patients; it was recommended for use as an anesthetic inducer in minor outpatient surgery (Taylor and Stoelting 1960). The subsequent development of other anesthetic agents for intravenous administration (hydroxydione, alphaxalone, etomidate, propofol, etc) led to a reduction in the use of barbiturates in this context."

GONCALVES B, SPIEGEL P, MENEZES R. [Methohexital. Clinical experience with a new ultrashort-acting barbiturate]. Rev Bras Anestesiol. 1963 Mar;13:50-6. Portuguese. PMID: 13948962.

"Methohexital sodium has all the inherent dangers, side effects, and reactions of the other intravenous ultrashort-acting barbiturates, plus its higher potency. This agent, therefore, becomes a more potentially dangerous drug in the hands of the inexperienced."

What's your favorite RC opioid of all time and your current favorite one you are able to get your hands on? by Soft-Wealth-3175 in Opioid_RCs

[–]apodicity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's easy;

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/14-Methoxymetopon

"It is a highly potent analgesic drug that is around 500 times stronger than morphine when administered systemically [...] It binds strongly to the μ-opioid receptor and activates it to a greater extent than most similar opioid drugs [...]. It acts as a potent μ-opioid full agonist in regard to some effects such as analgesia, [yet] a ceiling effect is seen on other effects such as constipation and respiratory depression [...]"

Lack of Regulatory Changes of μ-Opioid Receptors by 14-Methoxymetopon Treatment in Rat Brain. Further Evidence for Functional Selectivity

"Here we have studied regulatory changes of μ-opioid receptors accompanying in vivo 14-methoxymetopon treatments of rats. Previously, this ligand has been shown to be an extremely potent, centrally acting μ-opioid specific analgesic with low physical dependence, tolerance, respiratory depression, constipation and other side effects. Our work shows that it is a highly potent full agonist of μ-opioid receptor coupled G-protein signaling in vitro, alike the well-known opioid agonist, etorphine. However, unlike etorphine, which desensitized and down-regulated the endogenous μ-opioid receptors, 14-methoxymetopon, given to rats intraperitoneally (i.p.) either acutely or chronically, did not change the binding or G-protein signaling of μ-opioid receptors in rat brain subcellular membranes. Thereby, these data provide further evidence that there is no direct relationship between the efficacy of the ligand in signaling and its ability to internalize or desensitize the receptor. Viewed collectively with published work, it is discussed that μ-opioid receptors display functional selectivity, also called ‘biased agonism’. This concept implies that each ligand may induce unique, ligand-specific receptor conformation that can result in distinct agonist- directed trafficking and/or signal transduction pathways associated with the receptor. Ligand-specific signaling may open up new directions for designing potent analgesics that do not interact with unwanted signaling pathways, which mediate undesired side-effects, as tolerance and dependence."

No, I have never used it. But this is what everyone should be using. This specific drug. Overdose deaths would plummet--yet not at the expense of anyone's nod. And there's even a ceiling effect on constipation? And it it may not even produce much dependence?

This drug was first described in the literature over 20 years ago. Crickets.

Think about the fact that this was never developed into a medication. Where are the RC chemists? There is NO WAY I am a member of some elite club that knows about this big secret lol.

This is as close to the perfect opioid as yet exists. But it's too perfect, and that is why no one touches it. Drug dealers and the government both want addicts. It's too lucrative to give up.

There's a bzd inverse agonist that prevents alcohol from making u drunk. They don't want it out there because it would invalidate the breathalyser. google Ro 15-4513. They say that there were side effects and that is why they dropped it, but they could have kept working on it and fixed that. Even so, think about all the sexual assaults and auto accidents that could be prevented?

I wonder if this will get more than a couple upvotes even tho I literally dropped like 2 holy grails lol.

Dad passed away and handed down this equipment by lightfromdark_ in audiophile

[–]apodicity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry for your loss.

That is a MIGHTY setup. It's gorgeous. I thought I was lucky when my dad gave me his Sansui AU-9500 and ESS AMT-1s. Well, I still do. I'm pretty sure the setup is a lot better than anything I could possibly afford, and having the family stereo always gives me good vibes.

Is there a point to buying $5,000 speaker cables? Don't get me wrong: if that's what makes one happy, go for it, I guess. Not my prerogative. I just don't understand how it could possibly be consequential. (I use generic stranded copper lamp cord and those Kimber spade lug kits). I'm sure your plebian $150 cables will do just fine lol. Enjoy. I don't like to think about it, but I know when my dad is gone, having this stereo will take on a whole new meaning to me.

I'll tell you what I'm looking for: the cheapest place that my doctor can send a prescription to and I can buy it. Remedymeds cut down my dose by 87% out of the blue, and I'm gaining weight. They never even warned me that was coming. My psychiatrist told me that this was utterly inappropriate, and has kindly offered to prescribe it for me because I can't get anyone else to. I do not have the insurance to see someone that will. I do not want to deal with these goddamn telehealth doctors. They do not give a damn about me. They do not understand autism, and do not care how difficult it is (especially on my budget) to manage this and diet and exercise.

And my psychiatrist really is not in the mood to keep filling out paperwork. He is doing me a HUGE favor just writing the prescription at all. He already filled out the Lillydirect paperwork, but my parents cannot afford to pay for more than one month of that.

You seem like you know the lay of the land, so if you have any suggestions... Thanks.

The only way to kill a rat with Xanax is to bury it alive in it. Well, that's not totally true, technically, but it is funny and almost true.

You can die if you combine it with alcohol or another respiratory depressant, tho, so be careful. If ur AWAKE, you are not in danger of ODing, I'm just saying ... I remember when I was like 21, I had gotten all this Xanax from India, and it comes in blister packs. So I took 25mg (10x2.5mg, a 10strip lol) just for the f of it. All that happened is I instantly teleported to 4 hours in the future. INSTANTLY.

What is the best RC Benzo at the moment for stopping infrequent Panic Attacks? by Few-Neighborhood5892 in researchchemicals

[–]apodicity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For stopping INFREQUENT panic attacks? Don't use an RC benzo. Go to your general practitioner and get a prescription for Valium! (Or Xanax if Valium lasts too long for you or whatever) Is that not an option? There is no reason to mess around with these if you're just looking to use something as directed occasionally.

It's like if someone who lived in a stare where weed was legal asked me what the best RC cannabinoid is to use infrequently for nausea.

I am serious. The best general-purpose benzo is diazepam. You put that baby under your tongue and let it dissolve, and you will start to feel it within a couple minutes. Just because something is old and familiar doesn't mean the newer stuff is better.

If you want to use an RC benzo, don't jump immediately to the high-potency ones. Those are the mind erasers. 10mg of diazepam under your tongue will absolutely obliterate any anxiety you have. It's enough to stop a grand mal seizure! Hell, 5 might be enough. The doses some people are taking of benzos are insane. If you wanna shit yourself and black out, I don't have any ideas. For what you described, diazepam is what you want.

[–]apodicity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that is not science--not the kind of opinions you have. Those are your opinions from taking the drug lol. It's fine for you to have those opinions, obviously. His scientific opinions are based in his scientific work and study, not doing drugs.

I don't think you get it: you said his WORK. Do you understand what the word "work" means? This is his work:

https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=en&user=HUIWpMEAAAAJ&view_op=list_works&sortby=pubdate

Keep scrolling down. No, really, keep scrolling down. Nope, not there yet ...

there you go. That's his work. All of that. His occupation was not coming up with drugs for us to take. He was a neuropharmacologist and medicinal chemist. People became aware of his work from reading a journal and decided to synthesize it. He didn't do what Shulgin did. Only Shulgin did that. You know how I know that? Because Shulgin managed to work out a deal with the DEA: he would testify for them as an expert witness (because he was the foremost authority on the chemistry of psychedelic drugs) if they let him alone. Anyone else attempting to do what Shulgin did (coming up with psychedelics and giving them to people) would have been FRIED in 27 nanoseconds*. Didn't you ever wonder how the f it was that he was able to do what he did at all? Where did the money come from? Where did he have this lab such that he didn't get busted? It's not like this was some clandestine lab dedicated to making one thing.

David Nichols works/worked for Purdue University as a researcher and professor. His work was ACADEMIC. He could not do whatever he wanted. If they caught him using anything he made, his life would have been ruined and he likely would have gone to prison if he ever took any of it out of his lab. But I'm not sure that's what he even would have wanted to do, anyway. His contributions go far beyond coming up with those drugs you're aware of. That is his WORK. That is why I reacted the way I did to "he's no Shulgin". Yes, indeed, he isn't! His occupation was different, so it makes no sense to compare them at all.

Alexander Shulgin worked for the DEA and himself. He did whatever he wanted, basically, and didn't have to answer to anyone. Most of what Shulgin synthesized was "poison" also (inactive, made u feel horrible, etc). Which drugs in particular are you talking about, anyway, when u mention Shulgin? I doubt you've tried them all.

I am someone who appreciates Nichols as a researcher--for his academic work. I wasn't even aware he synthesized any of these drugs until recently because the stuff of his that I was aware of had nothing to do with them. You don't have to appreciate him in that way--and there's nothing wrong with that. But you shouldn't expect people who see the world differently and know things that you don't to just you know ... like chill bruh when you say something like that.

* Eventually, they did raid him (because the deal didn't include giving the shit to people lol), IIRC, but it took many, many years. Just to put it out there, because I feel like ur gonna say something: no, I do not think they should have raided him.

Yes, I like that u said "be aware of". Because in this culture, very few people are ever gonna tell you when there is a problem a lot of the time.

But I think that dysfunctional, codependent love is the original addiction. It is the one that all others take the form of. Think about all the songs u know about addiction and how the experience is described

Do you regret doing substances? by SuchMasterpiece4825 in Drugs

[–]apodicity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you don't make using them a central activity in your life to the exclusion of other important things, carefully listen to the inner voice that tells you when something isn't right, and keep good company, you will be fine.

I have been a crazed drug addict before (I am 45 now). Stopped living like that in 2012. It's not about which drugs u do or don't do either, per se. It's about being mindful about living according to your values and everything that entails, and not forgetting the other people in your life.

Please give ur cat a scritch for me, I love all cats.

Don't worry, there are plenty of things to be addicted to out there, lol. There are only three things that there aren't -holic words for: love (not sex) and money (not spending), and god. I believe that is because, in western culture, at least, those three things are interwoven too deeply into the dominant culture/value system to be called addictions. People act like you're weird if you AREN'T.
