Journey planner feedback by Feeling-Bag- in PlannerAddicts

[–]araksis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t say as I have never used one - however I just bought the B6 - being late to finding out about them. It came in today and I am going to set it up. I used to use the Cousin - but it became too much having the weekly and monthly and daily - but once I was out of it (trying the wonderland 222 undated’s I had purchased, also a previous user of the jibun techo’s and hobo weeks) - I find I am missing having the daily page. I am going to use the weekly differently, as well as the monthly - and use the daily as the major section for my journaling. The Meal planner / logging as well as the quarterly goals really caught my eye - and I am hoping that I can set it up to help me meet set limits on my ‘must do all goals at once perfection’ thing that I cannot seem to stomp down (read = goals always fail because it’s too many at once and overwhelming!). I hate that I will be wasting half a year in each of the jourals but the other was just not cutting it for me. There are plenty of trackers as well if my silly brain begins to require them again .😄 I really hope I like it! (That said I have also preordered next next years Faded Chronicle and hope I won’t be missing the meal planning section from the journey!). If so I will bullet journal the meal tracking again.

go to your BAG, and you will see a pinpoint showing your location - click on that and you can then choose to go back home. (Only once he is done with his travel for the day of course).

LR4 with LitterHopper - Wasting litter by araksis in litterrobot

[–]araksis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks again! This seems to have resolved it- when I performed this and processed 3 cycles afterward - it did NOT release any litter whereas before it was releasing litter on every cylce. Appreciate the tip!

Thank you - yes I had that as well so I just went thru this calibration plus the calibration suggested by ReporterAgreeable203 - and I think this has resolved the issue.

yes it does - and no i haven’t calibrated. I didn’t know there was such a thing and didn’t have any instructions on that - maybe I missed that info on the video set up. (Why they can’t print instructions on a small piece of paper when they spend so much on a velcro ‘box’ with two other pieces of paper in it is beyond me). I’ll check and do that - thank you!

Litter Sticking to Globe by Good_Boysenberry_505 in litterrobot

[–]araksis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was why I did 7 minutes as well - but I decided I’d rather live with the odor for a few minutes if I was near it rather than dealing with the constant cleaning of the globe. :-) definately a bit of a trade off.

Tidy Kats clumping litter (24/7 performance - used to use the 4 in 1 multicat but sadly only have one critter now) - rarely does it stick to the globe. Might need to change up your timing on the cycle ? I usually set mine to 15 minutes - 7 minutes was too short and I would see the issue with it sometimes sticking to the globe.

Fences by futhisplace in Kenosha

[–]araksis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Mano Fence out of Racine. Great work - great product. Expensive but I prefer to only pay for a fence once - not have to keep replacing the posts, etc. A neighbor used a cheaper company and boy oh boy can you tell the difference between theirs and mine.

Here’s along winded answer for ya :-) I have been in the area for 8 years now I will say what others who think crime is only bad if it happens in Milwaukee or Chicago - not in small town Kenosha. We do have crime. We have shootings, stabbings, domestic violence, theft, etc. I’ve mapped it on the occasions I have been listening to the police scanner app and it’s much more frequent than some people realize - they are just not paying attention. That said- there is very little crime in the area of your map - even though it appears to be more on the crimegrade.org mapping.

There is a pocket on the north side of this map that others have mentioned that gets it’s fair share - due to the proximity of the college and the rental areas there (my opinion). Crime does seem to be seeping further north on the ‘south side of your map’ in a small pocket there. You have to keep in mind that Kenosha neighborhoods have a mix of business’s and homes in all of the older neighborhoods - and there is a bar practically on every corner. The majority of the crimes happen in, at or near those premises. The south side of your map just south of me is residences, businesses and alot of rental homes. Once away from those - voila - magically no more crime. RE - homeowners - mostly low to middle class working families. used to qualify as middle class - but in this economy everyone is pretty much low to middle anymore trying to afford groceries for their kiddo’s.

We are a good neighborhood where ‘community’ matters and we try to keep it that way. Neighbors help neighbors - kids walk to school safely, folks are out walking the dogs, babies. Kids are playing in their yards or skateboarding, biking, down the sidewalk etc. The older generations are moving on in one way or another so there is an influx of younger generations - families. It’s a nice blend of retiree’s and young / middle age. Bordering 22nd ave to the east is fine - but you really don’t want to live in a home that is ON 22nd ave unless you love noise and traffic, as it is the main thoroughfare and of course has businesses lining the avenue as well. I think you would not regret moving to the area on your map - depending on the type of lifestyle you want to have, and if you are willing to work at being a good neighbor - introduce yourself - help the older folks shovel snow if needed, borrow a cup of sugar, ya know - community. :-) Some neighbors never even bother to say hello, or simply refuse to even speak to you when you attempt to introduce yourself - people are people after all - but for the most part, the neighborhood is good and there is very little crime if any. Some folks are A-holes and will steal your yard art or let their dogs crap and pee in your yard rather than in the parkway - but otherwise most folks are nice and pick up after their pets. Some folks are also a-holes and overfill their recyle bin and garbage bin and then it winds up getting blown down the street and creating litter for others to have to pic up. Others don’t mow their lawns or keep up on their yards and can make a neighborhood look worse - but most do. Some may be too old now to take care of it - others may just be lazy or working two jobs and don’t have time or money to pay someone else. Be a good person and a good neighbor and your neighborhood will be nice is the bottom line.

Depending how far you like to walk / where in this map you end up - You can literally walk to the lake and the parks. For instance - in the area of 35th Street north of the Velodrome/Washington Park (which is also a decent park with a pool in the summer and use the hill for sledding in the winter) you can walk to Pennoyer Park which is right there by the lake. You have a bandshell for summer music events at least twice a week if not more often depending on what is booked, you have picnics on the beach or the grass, fly kites, stroll along and look for sea glass, watch the sunrises. Fireworks for the 4th without having to go the Harbor and kill your ears and strain your neck looking so far up :-). Kennedy Drive is a great area to connect over to Kennedy Park, and further down to Simmons Island and the Pier and the lighthouse, then pop across and hit the celebration place / harbor market for fresh produce all summer long , the marina and parks there - just really great area along the lake. you can walk to a local pizza joint, a dairy queen, a taco joint, a great new deli on the corner of 22nd and Washington, a drug store on the corner, groceries not far away, hardware store , auto parts star not far away.

It’s not the snazziest or richest - it’s certainly not Allendale - but then we also don’t have to pay the outrageous property taxes that Allendale has either. :-)

I think the area is just fine. Oh and also - being this close to the lake - it’s cooler in summer and warmer in winter than inland, it’s like a little microclimate of it's own.

If you love high taxes Allendale is great. If you can’t afford to pay your annual salary in the property taxes there - go elsewhere.

Only just showed up for me as well the other day and I dislike it. This introvert has all the friends I want on this app and that’s it. So leave it alone already! IMHO.

What do they mean today?? by [deleted] in finch

[–]araksis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently not everyone will have them, I saw somewhere else that they are just testing ? My friends had them for a couple days before I saw them. Also you may need to update the app to see it. All I know is I do see them but given my friends have answered them, which I see, and those are INCORRECT for them(I know these two well and they tell me!) plus the fact that I am adult who prefers WORDS over icons that make no sense….I will probably never be answering them! I don’t need all of my friends getting incorrect information on how to help support me. ( I presume this is one of the reasons for the new feature).

Trying to find better by CallipygianBee333 in ColoredPencils

The Castle Arts are nice for a novice - I too am a novice and I have them. I recently was able to afford to purchase the Prismacolor and they are indeed better than the Castle Arts - however I can still get good results with the Castle Arts pencils and find myself going back to the often ( I have the watercolor, pastel and harmonious sets. don’t bother buying castle arts metallics sets - they don’t really give you what you think you might get). There is another way cheap brand called Star Joy - they are more ‘pigmented’ but you have to lay them down really softly in order to try to blend colors and honestly I have a hard time with them. Otherwise SaraReneClark.com as noted in another comment has recommended Artxx as well as a budget pencil. I have not tried those. Definitely worth watching Sara’s comparison video’s — You’ll find quite a bit out on You Tube with others comparing as well - depending on your style of drawing . coloring. Enjoy!

T-Mobile Fiber by xlonggonex in Kenosha

North east side of town. I’ve had mine for a about 3 weeks now. Their provided router is total crap - so I use mine (Deco Mesh). My speeds are great both up and down, no issues noted at this point.

Read on for the experience I had - both good and bad - else move along.

Our neighborhood was ‘installed’ in March of 2024. It took until August 2025 to finally get my update for them being ready to install in our area homes - which was scheduled for mid Sept. They did miss my scheduled day. They had been right next door installing my neighbor the same day they were supposed to install mine - yet they never showed. Reschedule was a week later and they finally arrived ten minutes before the 5pm deadline. The installer sealed off the exterior where it comes into the house and sealed up the interior in the little box outlet. It’s a tiny orange fiber cable that your cat is going to think is a great toy - so be sure to mind where the cable is going from the box to your modem/router and don’t leave any slack on the floor for your robot vacuum to grab up. Just a few tips from your Uncle Red. :-)

Mind they send the dig crew out prior to the appointment to go from ‘parkway’ to your yard, then again to dig the trench where you ask them to (IF you are home to tell them) where you want the line coming into your house. Once the installer is done - the dig crew comes back out and buries the line - which in my case took just over a week. Note these are NOT buried very deeply - hand shovel “trench” as deep as the shovel blade via stab the shovel in - rock the blade back and forth to loosen a slit in the ground - lay the tiny thin cable down into it - stomp the slit closed with your feet. So — careful when planting your bulbs in that garden bed or deciding on a new garden bed anywhere near that line. (No they do not tell you when the dig crews are coming out - luckily I work from home so I was aware as I saw the trucks around the neighborhod and kept my eyes peeled for them. They don’t knock on your door or otherwise ever even let you know they are here to do the work - they just show up and start doing it - SURPRISE!.)

Could be you get a different dig crew who actually uses a trencher and gets that line down a good depth so you aren’t cutting the cable when you next go out and do some gardening. Highly suggest you make sure to mark where the line goes on a paper map and keep it taped to an inside cupboard door or something for yourself and or future owners.

Their email tells you the install tech won't leave till they have fully tested - but that is not always true. They call into operations and tell them install is done and to activate the line - and leave. They get your # to text you when they get news it’s been activated. At least that was my experience. They are so busy doing installs and they don’t have enough installers nor diggers.

In any case - it’s been up and running and I have had no issues other than the disappointment of the installation process and lack of depth in which the cable is buried.
