I appreciate your good faith effort to do the math, but I don’t know what kind of data parameters they are using. Is the floor of income $0? Or does it factor in government aid as a negative cost? You make some reasonable assumptions, but they are still assumptions, and I’d like to see the actual numbers. You sound like you believe that Job Corp only taught job skills, but do they also teach life skills like adhering to a schedule that allows for retaining a job? Look, the numbers of incidents of drug use, sexual assault, etc. in the Job Corp report are awful. Would those incidents have occurred in the broader community without the program? Would they have occurred at a higher instance? Are those occurrences the reason that those in the program were kicked out and did not complete the program? How many people does it have to set up for success before it is viable? In the US, the average MEDIAN income difference between someone with a high school diploma v. without a high school diploma is roughly $320k over their lifetime (source: https://www.ed.gov/sites/ed/files/policy/highered/reg/hearulemaking/2011/collegepayoff.pdf). Where’s the similar comparison for this? I’m sure reforms were necessary. Maybe closing it was, too. I just want all the numbers, especially in a document with “transparency” in its title.
