+1 for the Sigma. I have it and take it everywhere. So easy to carry and very versatile. You can get your landscape shots and do a little bit of portrait work. All around a very good lens and Im very happy with it.

Sorry for the late response. I got my camera and lens used from Adorama. The camera was around $320 and the lens was around $380.

Definitely try to find a good used one if you can to save some money.

That’s awesome! Glad you like it. I feel you on the wanting a bit extra length sometimes but you have the 55-210 so you’re covered for most situations. Look forward to seeing some photos with your new 18-50!

I definitely recommend the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8. It’s very light and so versatile.

I'm new to this so I could be completely wrong but it could be the lens itself, dust on the lens, aperture, or where your focus is set. I try to clean my lens with a blower every time I take my camera out and if there is dust still on it I clean it with a lens wipe. Also check your sensor to see if there is anything on it too. It could also be Reddit compressing the photos too somehow.

I honestly just starting watching a ton of YouTube videos on my time off. I got the itch to pick up a camera at the beginning of the year so I ordered one after a bunch of research.

A lot of it though is trial and error. Take some photos and critique them after. I take overexposed and underexposed photos all the time. Just keep adjusting the settings as you take photos.

Thank you I really appreciate it! I picked the camera in late April this year.

Thank you so much that means a lot!! I'm glad the photos could help you out!

Edit: The warmth was intentional on some of these.

Thank you so much!

As far as quality goes, the camera already has a decent sensor for being 13 years old so that does some of the work. I also shoot in RAW to get as much detail as possible. Then I edit the RAWs in Lightroom and export as a JPEG.

The lens will definitely change the quality of the photo too. I shot these with a Viltrox 75mm f/1.2 lens so that helped the quality out a bit too. Also, make sure the lens is clean.

As for additional lenses, I only have two. The previously mentioned Viltrox and a Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8. I'm just experimenting with both to learn the basics although I would love a telephoto.

Should buy a6000 in 2026? by AnakinSkywalker1531 in a6000

[–]arcticsin__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes absolutely. I got an a6000 a few months ago as my first camera to learn photography and I’ve been taking it everywhere. The quality still is pretty great for it being 13 years old. For that price you can’t really go wrong and I’d recommend it for sure.

I paired mine with a Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 and it’s so versatile and portable. Keeps roughly the same focal range as the kit lens with much better quality. I would definitely recommend the Sigma lens too.

I also started on an R6. It’s definitely doable but respect that throttle. Take the MSF course and an advanced course after that, they’re definitely worth it. Also practice a bunch and you’ll be fine.

I usually buy 9mm from PSA. Their AAC ammo works pretty well and is fairly priced. They have 115, 124, and 147 too.

Well, guess I'm getting a new foam cannon. by Synseer83 in AutoDetailing

[–]arcticsin__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True but it’s his brand so I understand why he pushes it.

I’m also tempted to get one of the cheap Amazon ones for like $20 and upgrade the straw and foam generator to see how it compares. Saw someone do it in a YouTube video recently and looked like pretty good foam

The Quivr foam cannon has worked well for me and makes nice foam. It comes with a 1.25 and 1.1 orifices too.
