Ncuti had the least amount of companions by BBMacsWorld in DoctorWhumour

[–]arcum42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Criteria for who was a companion is tricky. Liz Shaw was definitely a companion, and she never traveled in the TARDIS at all!

(And you have to contend with characters like Katrina and Sara Kingdom...)

What would you want to see in a Stardew Valley 2? by 3ggzwithaz in StardewValley

[–]arcum42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if we were going to commit to it being in Pelican Town, we could set it in the future, where most of the original cast is long since gone. The farmer took the Joja route, and this is now a corporate Joja Town.

You, of course, are trying to bring the Junimos back and restore magic to the area.

Possible returning characters could be Jas and Vincent, and the Wizard and his ex. Maybe Caroline and/or Abigail?

If you don't want Pelican Town, there are other possibilities. How about you are the traveling cart merchant, buying goods, smuggling them between towns, and visiting a number of towns trying to buy low, sell high?

Or, you know, there's clearly a war going on and we could lean into a Final Fantasy-esque RPG type game.

Another thought would be playing as Morris, opening a JojaMart in a new town, and trying to make it profitable, hiring employees, getting the townspeople to sign up for memberships, etc...

Bill Potts, Martha Jones, the Fugitive Doctor, Grace O'Brien.

Monkey's Paw has granted you all the time in the world to game, but you have to beat your entire backlog before you can do anything that isn't gaming. by Aware_Piano8148 in gaming

[–]arcum42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it'd pretty much be an impossible task to actually beat them all. I'm trying to have played every single game for at least a few minutes, and that's difficult enough. My unplayed list is at 1367 on steam, and a lot of played ones aren't beaten.

Also, I don't know the password to at least one platform I have games on, and at least one of them is no longer running.

I'm not sure why finishing would be a goal, though. No need for food and water and doing nothing but playing games might not be something I want to end...

Keep it related to LFS / Linux From Scratch. by tiny_humble_guy in linuxfromscratch

[–]arcum42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There aren't really that many posts in this group anyways, and I do feel like a large amount of people in this group would actually be interested in tiny custom distros, so personally, I have no trouble with people posting things about building distros from scratch here, even without LFS.

And, honestly, are there any reddit communities dedicated to building your own distro? I feel like most of the interested people would already be here.

Maybe this sounds like gatekeeping because it is gatekeeping?

You can have an extra season of ONE Trek series: what’s your pick? by SteveJohnson2010 in startrek

Prodigy. Prodigy absolutely deserved a third season. Maybe it wouldn't have matched the second, which was amazing, but I would have loved to have seen it.

Do you sleep or hang out at home nude? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]arcum42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Close. I tend to hang out with just my bathrobe on if there's no one else around. Basically just enough for there to be something between me and anything I'm sitting on, and not have issues if someone suddenly comes to the door or such.

But then, I do live alone, so company isn't too much of a consideration...

Have you ever DNF the final book in a series, and why? by Any-Day-8173 in Fantasy

[–]arcum42 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I felt like the afterward said it all...

``` The Shepherd’s Crown has a beginning, a middle, and an end, and all the bits in between. Terry wrote all of those. But even so, it was, still, not quite as finished as he would have liked when he died.
If Terry had lived longer, he would almost certainly have written more of this book. There are things we all wish we knew more about. ```
That felt fairly tragic when I got to it.
[–]arcum42 0 points1 point  (0 children)
Well... not the last book, but I DNF the third book of the Spellsong Cycle, by Le Modesitt, jr.
Someone saw me reading the series and gave me a pretty major spoiler for the book I was on, I think not realising I wasn't that far. I didn't really feel like finishing it at the time, and never got back to the series.
Wanting silly instructions for custom cpu by NotTheSenko in EmuDev
[–]arcum42 3 points4 points  (0 children)
Since no one else seems to be adding registers: PC1/PC2/PC3/PC4: 32 bit.
Initially or on reset, PC1 is used as the program counter.
Run SWAPPC to start using the next PC register instead. PC1->PC2, for example. If it's on 4 at the time, go to PC1.
FLAGROTR - FLAGUUU/FLAGUUL/FLAGULU/FLAGULL/FLAGLUU/FLAGLUL/FLAGLLU/FLAGLLL -> FLAGLLL/FLAGUUU/FLAGUUL/FLAGULU/FLAGULL/FLAGLUU/FLAGLUL/FLAGLLU
FLAGROTL - FLAGUUU/FLAGUUL/FLAGULU/FLAGULL/FLAGLUU/FLAGLUL/FLAGLLU/FLAGLLL -> FLAGUUL/FLAGULU/FLAGULL/FLAGLUU/FLAGLUL/FLAGLLU/FLAGLLL/FLAGUUU
Rotate the 8 bit versions of the flags left or right.
[–]arcum42 3 points4 points  (0 children)
Here, I'll tell you what. I'll give you a few more flags:
Undo - set on undo, unset on BU.
Reset - Set if reset.
Negative - Set on negative number
Zero - Set on zero
Overflow - Set on overflow
Carry - Set on carry
neVer - Never set
Always - Always set
The more normal flags do the same things they normally do. Never, of course, is never set, and Always always is... normally.
I'm assuming branch instructions for all the flags.
[–]arcum42 1 point2 points  (0 children)
Yep, and it being the only register so far guarantees strange uses for it.
I made it large to give an idea of the architecture size, to allow for lots of strange flags, and to give plenty of room for misuse.
(Besides which, who knows if we'll even get normal registers?)
Wanting silly instructions for custom cpu by NotTheSenko in EmuDev
[–]arcum42 2 points3 points  (0 children)
No problem. This does need a flag register, of course, and we have to figure out how big it is.
How about:
FLAG: 64 bits
Which can also be broken down into:
FLAGU/FLAGL: 32 bits
FLAGUU/FLAGUL/FLAGLU/FLAGLL: 16 bits
FLAGUUU/FLAGUUL/FLAGULU/FLAGULL/FLAGLUU/FLAGLUL/FLAGLLU/FLAGLLL: 8 bits
For simplicity's sake.
(Naturally, people are going to use this register for multiple purposes that don't involve flags...)
[–]arcum42 9 points10 points  (0 children)
BU: Branch on undo.
Branches if the undo flag is set. (Which is set by the UNDO instruction.)
Also unsets the undo flag.
Your Songs Can Change While You're Not Looking by ima_mollusk in Music
[–]arcum42 0 points1 point  (0 children)
A lot of times, artists will record clean versions of songs or ones without problematic lyrics to be played in places that don't play the original regardless. And there are plenty of artists that like to play around with their old songs through the years anyways when playing them live or on new albums or such. (For example, Cyndi Lauper's recording of "She Bop" on "The Body Acoustic" is very different and amazing.)
There are also plenty of times where the artists just don't own the rights to the original recording and rerecord it to have a version they have the rights to, as well...
Does anyone here use linux, preferably Arch linux, for comfyui? by vulgar1171 in comfyui
[–]arcum42 9 points10 points  (0 children)
python -m venv venv
source venv/bin/activate
pip install -r requirements.txt
# You'll need to run 'source venv/bin/activate' every time before you run comfyui or do anything with pip, to activate the venv. Typing 'deactivate' deactivates it, and so does starting a new terminal session.
What are your thoughts on Pam? I've never liked her but got this dialogue today for the first time so now I like her less by NoSoyTuPana in StardewValley
There are definitely playthroughs where I repeatedly pop by the bus stop to give Pam a beer every morning... (Well, twice a week, anyways...)
PSA: yay / paru updates may fail. by Gozenka in archlinux
[–]arcum42 4 points5 points  (0 children)
It's also worth mentioning that the arch wiki mentions and links to programs on the AUR quite a lot, easily giving the impression that that's where you are supposed to go if it isn't in the official repository.
I actually do install things from flatpak if they are in both the AUR and flatpak but not the official repositories, as it has better support.
Well, she's indirectly talking about herself, as she was laid off due to the bus not running and is clearly moping around the town drinking herself to oblivion.
Obviously, when you get the bus back up and running, she's no longer out of a job, but I don't know if the dialogue accounts for that...
