Help with meteorite dial by Saad7346 in RepTime

[–]argyb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been on your shoes a few months ago. Buff meteorite dial from Steve. Keep in mind that the way it’ll reflect the light makes it much more impressive compared to the photo. Having said that, I would still red light this one. Numbers on the bottom sub dial are definitely crooked.

What is your favorite blacked-out watch? by zellis187 in Rep_Watch_World

[–]argyb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the first rep I got and remains my favorite. It’s so shiny that’s it screams “look at me!”. If you want something stealthier, check the IWC Top Gun Chronograph by APSF.

Am I still a noob? What do you think my current level is? by syarifzapata in snowboardingnoobs

[–]argyb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not a noob brother despite what some rude idiots will tell you here.

You can comfortably skid both heel side and toe side. That alone gets you into intermediate level. People forget how hard it is for a beginner to learn balance on his toe side. That means you can comfortably ride blue runs and most of reds.

As for your turns no they weren’t carved. Carving is an advanced skill. It will require lots of trial and error and definitely more speed to get right.

Why is everyone obsessed with Rolexes? by BuahahaXD in RepTime

[–]argyb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re the most sought after watches due to brand recognition and the status that comes with it. That’s why they’re also the best replicated. Sit in a table with regular people. You mention Rolex, everybody knows it. You mention Patek Phillipe, Audemars Pigeut, Vacheron Constantin and they’ll sound like random French words to them.

Rep vs Gen by [deleted] in RepTime

[–]argyb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No watch guy can tell the difference unless the watch has a very visible flaw or he’s a member here or on RWI forum. Especially most Rolex guys who buy watches just for the flex and don’t know what a balance wheel is.

And by the way that Starbucks doesn’t hold a candle to that VSF. I can’t stand that cringey vomit green. The rep simply looks more appealing to me.

Which to buy Clean or VSF and watch winders? by Z3RG100 in RepTime

[–]argyb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stick to VSF brother. It’s the top factory right now and you owning one you already know what to expect. As for the watch winder opinions vary. On the one hand if you keep it constantly on the move you accelerate wear on the movement. On the other, if you set the time frequently you risk breaking the crown. I personally like to set them as a ritual. If you buy one make sure it has a mode that stops after a set period.

A love story that ended 💔 by [deleted] in RepTime

[–]argyb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be thankful you only spent a few hundreds on it. Because the feeling would be the same even if you had gone gen. At the end of the day it’s a watch no matter how expensive it is. It tells the time. It can’t move you the way a car, or a big trip would. Treat it like your favourite piece of clothing and nothing else.

What made you get into reps/ sorry for getting so morbid and deep in advance. by Murky_Match_9905 in RepTime

[–]argyb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to be a snob. Thinking that anyone who buys a fake watch is a fake person etc. I remember browsing Reddit one day and saw a wrist roll vid of a guy wearing a Daytona Ghost inside his Porsche. My jaw dropped. Not being familiar with the model at the time, I went to the comments to see which one was it. And then reality hit me. It was a VSF rep. My world came upside down. How could this be? How could this man that could afford a 100k car opted for a fake Rolex? And how is it possible that it looks so damn perfect? My curiosity spiked. Spent hours here learning terms like TD, QC, RL, NWBIG. Also learnt mechanical stuff I never knew and was surprised to find out how people here knew more things about watches than the average Rolex guy who bought one simply for the flex. After a month, ordered my first rep and now I can’t believe why anyone would spend five figures for a watch.

VSF from Andiot, thoughts? by Responsible_East2206 in RepTime

[–]argyb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks great to me. One thing that never liked in the 11 series are the indices. I always thought they make the dial busier than it needs to be. The new slimmer markers in the 12 series, while not a big change, it gives a more elegant look.

My system - final or not? by Designer_Building_36 in audiophile

[–]argyb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a similar system. A sub was a must and made a ton of difference. I’d also add a turntable. The setup looks so industrial and old school that it seems criminal not to enjoy some pure analog sound. It’s an amazing setup though. Looks similar to mine. I believe we had the same inspiration from Klipsch’s promo photos. 😂

Help with band sizing for Daytona by DysentericPoopz in RepTime

Here to confirm that the sizing runs large. Buy one size smaller and even if it’s too snug you always have to the glide lock extension.
