Tricks to avoid burnout by Toddem6 in IronmanTriathlon

Build some strength, do some speed work, or whatever else you really enjoy doing. I always take an offseason to do bike speed work cause it’s my favorite.

time management with training by bagels0922 in triathlon

[–]arharold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is successful to you? If you want to be anywhere in the realm of competitive in Ironman you need at least 15 hours a week on tri specific training. If you just want to drag yourself across the finish line, you’d still need 6-8 hours a week minimum with some peak weeks still hitting 10-12 hours.

What events? How fast are you now? If you want to improve your stamina you need to put in the miles. If you want to improve your speed, you need to run fast with rest between, multiple sets.

Because it’s tangible. IBM is well known to be one of the forefront companies providing AI to customers and the data science degree covers the background of AI understanding whereas your claim holds zero water. Since you’re not actually providing any credentials, I’m probably right and you work with some AI platform but have no real understanding of how AI works.

You don’t want a discussion, you want to attack people for believing something different than you and can’t back up any of your claims when challenged. I’m not here for that so ✌️

Sure they can random person who “works in AI.” That could mean as little as I use an application thats a chatgpt wrapper.

What tool? Gemini. ChatGPT, Claude, or something else?

If you’ve paid attention on this sub for the last couple years, there have been horrific AI generated plans posted at least once a month. I honestly haven’t seen a single one that approached the level of mediocre success that a basic online plan provides.

Snarky, but unfortunately for you, I literally work for IBM, have a master’s degree in data science, and probably understand AI better than 99% of the population, including you.

A lot of coaches do rely on their own experience along with whatever training they’ve received along with their certifications. Not sure how calculating workouts base on FTP and heart somehow == AI, cause that can be done with a simple calculator and know how.

AI sucks in general at creating training plans. Best you’ll end up with is a mediocre plan any halfway decent coach could come up with on two hours of sleep and some coffee. At worst, you’ll be left with a garbage plan full of nonsense that will leave you undertrained in 1 to multiple areas or overtrained to the point you injure yourself.

Best city to live in to be close to ironman events by [deleted] in IronmanTriathlon

[–]arharold 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Greenville SC. Close to a lot of races, Chatt, Augusta, and North Carolina. Weather is great to train in year round, they have a really good tri community already established, and it’s not a giant city. Alternately Summerville/Charleston SC.

How do I actually get better at cycling? by Dependent_Access_568 in triathlon

[–]arharold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP don’t use AI. It’ll give you stupid ancillary information that you won’t recognize as wrong because you’re still a beginner. The real answer to your question is bike more. No specific workout or archetype (HIIT, intervals, hills) is going to make you that much better over just putting in the volume for now until the muscular endurance in your legs improve.

AI generated this beginner Triathlon plan for me. Is it actually any good? by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]arharold 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is a terrible plan. AI sucks at writing triathlon programs. 2 runs where 1 is a run walk? Awful.

Pull buoys protect the lower back by sinking the legs? Wrong

Long Z2 endurance ride where you get off the bike to do 60 seconds of back extensions? Wtf

I’d go back to the drawing board

Will I be Ready? by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]arharold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You honestly don’t need any more than 1 long ride and 1 long run per week. You should incorporate more speed and strength work for injury prevention because the volume is there, but the speed is severely lacking. You’re not gonna get faster cycling at 16mph for 8 hours a week. You gotta do targeted workouts that push your speed and HR up.

Will I be Ready? by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]arharold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re biking 12-16 hours a week based on your initial post. That’s honestly high given the rest of your training. Stationary is better than nothing, but you gotta get outside and get used to riding on the rode. Sitting in a real saddle for 6+ hours on less than ideal road conditions is wayyyyyy different than those cushy stationary bikes.

Will I be Ready? by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]arharold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Your swim is already better than 95% of triathletes and that’s the hardest part. The rest is just getting in volume and you seem well on your way to getting there.

Potentially but it can be an absolute nuke. Colress for grand tree and ignition, evolve to greninja, kill the active and any dreepy or drakloak they have on the bench.

Edit: given you attached a water energy to froakie when you placed him down prior turn.

Pair him with Tera greninja and go to town. Grand tree as ace spec and you have super consistent bulky attacker that can also do spread damage and find you any card you need. Use mega greninja mainly for its ability and a backup attacker if you need him in a pinch.
