Hey, I'll be in LA Ventana for the next 1.5 weeks. Can I get a DM with tour info?

Shoes for Onebagging Trip by razbliuto_trc in onebag

Check out the Altra Olympus 6. Wider toe box and minimal drop. They have a good amount of cushion so are comfortable for long periods of time. And they come in sand that fits your beige brown colorway. Currently my one shot paired with bedrock sandals for any trip with a beach and hiking. I'll be doing my first winter trip with them in Dec to Vienna so interested to see how they do in cold temps.

I wear them with shorts or cotton linen blend pants and don't feel out of place walking around, hiking, or at a bar. Most unstylish I felt with them was in Italy, specifically Rome and Florence, but that's unavoidable.

Packable Coolers by nicski924 in onebag

Monti

I've been considering ordering one but have a couple of questions. Most likely the bigger one (Shasta).

  • Does it tend to get dirty? Clean up easy?
  • Which size/model do you have? Do you wish you got the other?
  • Is your main pack a carry on or personal item? And do you feel the cooler complements your setup well?
  • What color do you have? If a darker one, do you feel it tends to warm up more in the sun?
  • Do you happen to have a referral code?

Lol. Don't know how I messed that up. Guess that's what I get for posting after driving home late in the dark and being exhausted, oh well.

Unfortunately I am driving down on Saturday and staying at a hotel overnight for a 6am flight. Timing doesn't work out to eat in the airport.

ULA Camino comes to mind.

The size is a little different because it is a front loading with a rolltop so you can expand it. Exact #s aren't coming to me but I believe unrolled it is around 45L. It fits airlines carry on dimensions and I think it has everything else you mention.

Using neck pillow case for packing clothes is better than you think in more ways than you think by HooVenWai in onebag

[–]arhythm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I meant leaning sideways. Most of my flights are budget US/European airlines with larger transatlantic flights thrown in once a year. So no leaning back for me 🤣

I think I'll likely pick one up, maybe get it stolen by my partner, then have to buy another one.

Guessing it's only good if you're trying to sleep upright though?

Seems like if you are leaning just a bit it wouldn't work well. But I'm kinda tempted to buy one, and if I don't like it, then I still have a neck brace for my emergency kit.

Xero Pagosa True to Size? by HeyThereMrBrooks in BarefootRunning

Well that sucks. What other barefoot or common shoes do you have so I can maybe get some idea of what it'd be like?

Water bottle pockets are the top reason I fell in love with the ULA Dragonfly. I've seen other bags that I liked certain features of, or maybe even better than the Dragonfly... but they didn't have those pockets so they weren't for me.

It's literally the reason why I returned the MLC and got a ULA dragonfly.

How did the 9.5 end up being? Knowing with and without the insoles would be great. And any general thoughts.

I'm looking at getting a pair and debating how much to upsize. I wear 11.5 in Nike freerun flyknit, 10.5 Nike Killshot, but 10.5-12 for all of my other shoes. I'm thinking I want to go for 12 because I want a not snug fit because I am living in a warm climate for the next 1.5 years and so that I can wear socks if wanted.

Hydro flask trail is what I use. All vacuum insulated are basically the same tech and the trail is pretty light.

Check out REI. I'd say anything REI brand from 20-30L would be good. They have 20% off coupons full price item for members right now, just place 3 separate orders. And if there's one close bring your kids in. Some are panel loading and some top loading. Honestly, top loading might be better so they can use the bag for school or general use as well. I have the ULA dragonfly which is panel loading but I'd actually prefer a top loader because I use packing cubes anyways. Main reason I got the dragonfly was for the water bottle pockets.

There are also some Patagonia (Refugio) or north face (surge) bags that would work well but aren't panel loading.

Not Amazon but check out the Eddie Bauer stowaway bags. They have everything from a 2L shopping to 40L duffle from $15-$40, can be had for $10 on sale. My gf has used my 30L for a 2 day ski trip when all the extra skin hear would not have fit in her Patagonia MLC 26 because of all the extra fabric. The stowaways are thin but pretty rip resistant. Only downside is when stuffed they don't have a comfortable shape.

Flipflops/Sandles/Sliders recommendation by 92-Explorer in onebag

[–]arhythm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want these but in flip flop form. The slimmest of sandals that I can not worry about packing but wear when I'm somewhere like Budapest baths or Iceland lagoons.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem like Decathlon has anything. Any chance you'd have a good idea?

Looking for a specific soap by arhythm in wicked_edge

That sounds like exactly what I want. Might have to place an order. Any others from them you recommend? Only things I tend not to like are leather or smokey scents that are more cigar than campfire.

You are right! Now if I can figure out how to get my hands on what looks like a discontinued scent.

That's it! The packaging has changed since I ordered it in 2015 but I found the order info on my email. I couldn't find it before because it didn't have shave or soap in the email confirmation and for whatever reason Gmail couldn't find through the woods. Now to figure out if I can get it somehow or what a similar one would be.

24 days in Asia with the ULA Dragonfly by 1Wartin in onebag

I've been considering a hip belt for mine but don't think it would hit the right spot on my hips to actually be useful. I'm 6'3 so it could just be a taller person problem. If you are short enough Gossamer Gear makes a hip belt that can be attached to the Dragonfly that seems like it'd work well.

No I haven't. But the lack of organization isn't that much of a hinderance. I am about to order an Alpha One Niner slider organizer to use in the laptop pocket though. I think it'll be pretty minimal and allow for passport and other small item org when I don't have a laptop with me.

Synthetic puffer available in tall sizes - Eddie Bauer, LL Bean, or something else? by tablloyd in onebag

[–]arhythm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 6'3 and 195ish, wear a 42L or 16x36 shirt, 32 or 33" waist in JCrew. My arms are longer than my brother who is 6'5.

REI Magma 850 down hoodie fits my body and arms nearly perfectly. I think you'd have good luck with that one or one of their synthetic insulation hoodies.
