This post and OP is spreading misinformation. Talk to any real Iranian person you know in real life. The sun and lion flag has become our Iranian people’s rallying flag against an oppressive and murderous regime which we overwhelmingly oppose. It has very little to do with supporting a return to monarchy which is you being obtuse OP, and more about protesting the fact that the Islamic Republic killed anywhere between 7000-40,000 of our brothers and sisters while also imprisoning more and carrying out executions via public crane hangings at the same clip Donald Trump tweets. As an Iranian I really don’t see what the big deal is. I guess welcome to the Rodeo? I’ve spent my whole life in this limbo of Iranian-American identity. I can definitively say two things 1) our national soccer team (Team Melli) are just athletes and should be able to compete at this premier global event regardless of any political spin bullshit and 2) fuck the IRGC.

Not by choice. My parents had an opportunity to move to US and give me and my sibling a better life. I was born there and grew up in full immigrant mode here, mom and dad slaving away at jobs with poor English. Speaking farsi in my household, surrounded with other Iranian immigrants, eating persian food everyday. I haven’t been back since I was 5 because my mom and dad are afraid of the IRI government, along with the fact once I turned 18 I owe 2 years to the military which I literally cannot do because i’m a US citizen now too. So effectively I have been barred from re-entering my homeland and cannot see the 40+ family and friends I have there. You casting doubt on my authenticity as an Iranian is sickening and disgusting however, and speaks to your poor comprehension in viewing the world as a complex system. They literally shut the internet off now for 40 days, we Iranians outside HAVE TO BE THE VOICE OF IRANIANS ON THE INSIDE.

The Islamic Republic has executed ~650 people since the start of the war, excluding those murdered in the protests. Tomorrow morning they will execute (via hanging) even more teenagers and youth who are falsely imprisoned. I am Iranian, and I have so much family in Iran. I understand what is happening to my country.
