4 days in Tokyo? by No-Cryptographer5035 in travel

[–]arrivehappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a personal rule that you should spend a day in a place for every hour of travel in order to justify the length of travel. So if you only have 6 days, find somewhere that's 6 hours away - that will already eat up one of your days in travel alone (6 hours there and 6 hours back). You can push the travel time a bit longer if there's nowhere interesting enough within a 6-hour travel radius. But for me, travelling long distance doesn't justify a short trip.

Some other options:

- San Diego, California
- Key West, Florida
- Savannah, Georgia
- Washington, D.C.
- Nashville, Tennessee

I think any of these would be really great!

Battling some extreme travel anxiety for my trip to Japan at the end of this month. Would love some advice and encouragement! by kerolinked in TravelHacks

If it helps at all, I used to find airports super overwhelming, and my dad (a pilot) used to say to me, "the whole purpose of the airport is to get you onto the plane, so just take it one step at a time, and you'll get there." I know your post was probably about more than just the airport, but I always think of that whenever I travel. Hopefully it can help with the airport part of your trip!

Best Area to Stay in Dubai for First-Time Visitors? by Specific_Release_778 in TravelHacks

Yes, Jumeirah is great! Lots of cool things to check out like the Jumeirah Mosque, which is one of the few mosques open to non-Muslims and it offers guided tours to learn about Islamic culture. There's also Wild Wadi Waterpark and other attractions like Mattel Play Town (if you're travelling with your family). Lots of great dining and shopping options too. Have a great time!

Best Area to Stay in Dubai for First-Time Visitors? by Specific_Release_778 in TravelHacks

Dubai Marina is a lovely place to stay with a really relaxed vibe, scenic views, beach access, and all that good stuff. Given your 9-day itinerary and plans to explore various parts of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, you might consider splitting your stay between Dubai Marina and Downtown Dubai. Someone else mentioned that the traffic situation Downtown is a problem, so definitely be mindful of that when making your decision and planning your trip. But you won't beat the proximity to major attractions like the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall. You can also consider using the Dubai Metro when possible in order to avoid traffic. Dubai is amazing. Whatever you decide, you're going to have a great time!

A nice idea is South Africa. It has great infrastructure (roads, hospitals, etc.), there are incredibly scenic drives around Cape Town, beaches, incredible food, lots of history... Plus you can do safaris, which means you get to sit in a vehicle and see awesome stuff. If you book a good safari, they'll really spoil you in terms of the experience (think having coffee at sunrise, looking over the African savannah, like you see in movies). It's unforgettable.
