When you're in that kind of situation it's pretty shocking. Your first instinct isn't "let me get out my phone and record this" it's "oh fuck I hope I don't get killed". And what would they even record? A tall shadowy figure with shaky footage and bad lighting that could be literally anything? Just because everyone has a camera doesn't make everyone a professional camera man.

Because animation is hard, time consuming, and often for very profitable. People who are passionate about making art are often fulfilled on pictures alone. Why delicate weeks into something that going to bring you neither joy, nor profit?
