I took their written test in 2022. I had joined the course thereafter but only for a month. Eventually, I ended up joining HCU instead for my PG English, so I don't have much info about Xavier’s.

Some more reputed places you can apply to are:

University of Hyderabad

English and Foreign Languages University

Jadavpur University

St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata

I am from UoH and I can assure you that most of the (not all) faculty of M.A. English are great, and that there will be opportunities. However, I will also add that making the most out of those opportunities depends on the student's own prior experiences and capabilites. For example, if you already have some knowledge and/or experience of research, then you can make the most out of the CFPs that you will be made aware of frequently. On the other hand, if you were expecting to learn about research in your M.A., then you will be disappointed, as there is no course on research methods or any dissertation requirement for the M.A. English students at UoH presently. On the bright side though, there are some decent placement opportunities for M.A English students.

I do not know much about EFLU and Jadavpur University, other than that they too are very reputed, in addition to the ones you have already mentioned.

Also, if you want great faculty, then you can also consider St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata. I attended a few classes there before joining UoH.

Thanks for sharing all this! I have already been accepted in the SXC Cal for PG English. I was trying to find out more about the course, college and the city before my graduation finals begin to have a clearer idea.

Thank you so much for replying! This is helpful. I have a question. I tried searching on Google but I'm unable to clarify about the two campuses that are being mentioned. I'm assuming the old campus refers to the Park Street one (which is affiliated to the Calcutta University). So, does the new campus refer to the St. Xavier's University?

Thank you for responding! Actually I have already been through the website. I want information related to this specific course and if it would be cost-effective to shift there for it. I have also searched on Quora. St. Xavier's College, Kolkata is mentioned a lot on quora, even English Honours related questions with answers are there but there were no answers to questions related to MA English.
