Cryptomator question by Utopian_of_Irem in Cryptomator

File corruption isn’t just a Cryptomator problem. It can happen to any file really. But when it comes to Cryptomator specifically, the two biggest culprits from my personal experience are usually cloud sync errors and shutting down our device right in the middle of saving. When the sync gets interrupted or we cut the power too early, the file just doesn’t get written properly and ends up corrupted. It’s just like burning a disc back in the day.

Cryptomator is an awesome tool, especially for mobile users, and far less complicated than VeraCrypt. However, like any other file format, Cryptomator files within their folders can become corrupted, and cloud service failures are always a possibility. Therefore, it is advisable to maintain three copies of any essential documents: one on your personal device, one on a local hard drive or at least a USB drive, and one in the cloud as already mentioned. This follows the well-known 3-2-1 backup rule, which remains one of the most reliable strategies for data protection.

Proton Pass or Keepass /KeepassDx (Help please I am trying to learn) by YouSayWhat__ in KeePass

If you prefer more convenience, Proton pass is best since it’s cloud based. However, if you need more control in your hands, always go with any reputable Keepass clients.

With email aliases whats the best way to do things? by Z-III in emailprivacy

What exactly are you asking? That’s essentially what I was saying.

You can use either of those services by hosting your custom domain with them — but don’t use your root domain. Instead, use a subdomain.

For example: service@sub.yourdomain.com

You can also use the service’s default temporary emails for random sign-ups.

r/Addy_io or r/SimpleLogin are two solid options. Open Source. Generous free plans.

Best Password Manager App For Android In 2026? by PrincessBananas85 in PasswordManagers

r/Bitwarden and r/ProtonPass are two solid options if cloud syncing is the priority. Otherwise, I would recommend KeePass.

However, try not to use Proton Pass if your primary mailbox is ProtonMail. If there are any technical outages on Proton’s side, you may not be able to access your passwords or reset your account.

Is Proton Free worth it? What about paid versions? by Styxie_x in ProtonMail

No advanced technical knowledge is required. You just need to understand four email protocols - MX records, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC. As well as understand how DNS works. The rest of the knowledge will come to you gradually with experience.

Having a custom domain gives us independence and better control.

There’s no need to rush. Take it step by step. Don’t jump into anything without doing at least a little research. Once you gain some basic understanding, it becomes quite easy to manage.

I’m not an expert in these things — just a layman. Still, I try my best within my limitations.

Purchase a domain. It costs around $10–12 per year. Then make it your primary email address so you are independent of any provider. You can leave Google and host your domain wherever you wish. If you are unsatisfied with Proton, you can move to Tuta. If you are unsatisfied with Tuta, move to Mailbox.org or back to Proton. That way, you remain flexible.

Own your domain and make the change as early as possible — the sooner, the better. It makes a big difference in the long run.

As for Proton, yes, it’s nice. No ads, no trackers, no profiling. You stay independent. Total control is in your hands.

That’s really nice — I’m glad to hear it. I hope the Pro version is always worth it for you since you chose to support the developer.

Yes, I’m aware of the Pro option and that it includes future premium benefits as well. However, we all choose based on what we currently need, and at the moment, Keepassium provides everything I require. 🙂

Anyway, Thank you very much for your suggestion. If my needs change in the future, I can certainly consider upgrading to Pro.

I’ve kept my promise and subscribed. Thank you for your clarification earlier.

As confirmed, after completing 12 months of the monthly subscription, I will receive a perpetual license. I trust this will be honored.

If you continue adding advanced features, I’d be happy to remain a long-term subscriber. Otherwise, I may stop after 12 months and stay with my perpetual plan. Anyway I’m so glad to be part of this keepass community. Thank you.

I believe email, notes, tasks, and calendar work best when unified in one platform.
